own a private island for a week

as soon as we got our luggage, the Como Cocoa Island representative greeted you and carted your luggage across the street down to your boat and 45 minutes later, we arrived to a beautiful white sandy beach. fresh coconut was served with a refreshing cold towel. there are only water bungalows with the sunset and sunrise side. the sunrise bungalows are more separated whereas the sunset bungalow are next to each others. we were on the sunrise side which on top of white sands, not much corals so not many fishes under the bungalow whereas the sunset side are next to the corals so you can go down on the ramp and snorkeling and there are variety of fish including sharks and rays, and octopus. the water is pristine, the beach was the cleanest beach we have been. the workers were cleaning the beach all day long. Our room is quite large with an outdoor shower, bath tub, and two sinks. the bed was very comfortable. There are comfortable couches, Nespresso machine, and variety complimentary teas. Fresh fruits changed daily. there are lounge chairs for you to recline enjoying the ocean. The towels were soft. Food was excellent especially, the best Naan. The buffet selection was small but many ala carte to order from. the food was fresh and good quality. I would recommend to do half board because there is only one restaurant and it can be expensive if you don't do half board. They are very accommodating and willing to make adjustment to your restriction or liking. Although the resort was full, we felt very relaxed, and calm. never felt like we needed to get out of the restaurant because someone else was waiting or needed to wait for anything. We were assigned a butler and Nazeem made our stay 100+% happy. He booked our itinerary, served our meals, and made sure our stay was perfect, yet not in the way. We took two boat trips with marine biologist, Emily, who was extremely knowledgeable. We saw hundreds of dolphins and the second trip, at least 30 sharks and rays. We have been to Soneva Jani, Four Season, Constant Havale, and Como Cocoa Island has the best service. Only one remark is that there is no bucky so if you have problem walking, it may be difficult to walk to places. Also the bedroom is elevated so there are few steps which you have to be mindful not to miss or bump into. Other than that, if you want to feel like you own a private island for your stay, go to Como Cocoa Island. It is not inexpensive but you pay, they don't nickel and dime you so you can enjoy the fullest.

One week in paradise
Reviewed 1 week ago

We just spent 1 week at the amazing Como Cocoa Island.
Our holiday was perfection in paradise. Our villa was so beautiful, simple and perfectly decorated. You can do snorkeling directly from the villa and we saw so many beautiful colored fishes! The beach is amazing, with one kilometer of sand extending in the sea - such a dreamy walk!
Food is delicious, with different choices across international & local cuisine. There were 2 special nights when we were there: Thai and Barbecue, which were fantastic.
The resort is not so big so this is the perfect choice for a couple / small group of people. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Honeymoon Joy

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and Como Cocoa is beyond beautiful. The scenery was like a dream. The staff are friendly, helpful and kind. The water around the villas is insanely blue/turquoise/navy and the snorkeling was magical. We stayed for 5 days and never got tired of the food served at the restaurant. It was always delicious each day and the menu always had something new. The amount of sea life we saw just around our villa was really something amazing. Not to mention our cozy villa. It was crisp, clean and beautiful. It felt as though we were on an island of our own. Como Cocoa truly is a magical place. Hoping to be back soon!

A place close to our heart.

This was our second trip to Cocoa Island and yet again, it impressed us in every way from the idyllic of the resort to the service we have received. Especially the service we have received.

It is obvious that Cocoa Island is extremely well managed, and the credit goes to Ben Kreuz, GM. Every detail in the running of resort is well established and the whole Cocoa Island team of staff is so amazing in giving the best service. Everyone here is attentive, caring and friendly. For us, the fantastic thing is, we did not need to “request”; everyone is so proactive that they seem to know what we needed. For example, upon our arrival from Como Maalifushi in the late afternoon, our son was itching. It was noticed straight away and someone came to our room to attend to him. Cream was obtained from Male and delivered to us just after dinner time which helped tremendously. This high level of service was maintained throughout our stay by every single staff, and we thank all of them for it.

We particularly enjoyed looking at the moon with Zara. He is very knowledgeable about the stars and it was very interesting especially for our son.

Then there were the little touches that made this place a little paradise island away from home like a lovely lighting ceremony of the Christmas tree, carol singing and drinks. We really liked the snowmen made of painted water container and coconut! 😉

We could go on and on singing songs of praises for Cocoa Island. It is truly a perfect place for us as resort goes and it is a place close to our heart. We will be back.

Last but not least, a little note for any reader who could be deciding between Como Cocoa Island and Como Maalifushi. Cocoa Island trumps the service in a way that it is not even worth comparing. It is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye and for some magic reason, time almost stands still here - one day here felt like 4 days at home. Food and drinks are way better. The only things that Cocoa Island doesn’t have which Maalifushi has is the kids’ club, but honestly, it didn’t matter to us at all. The villas don’t have private pools but hey, there’s a whole ocean with bright blue clear water to swim in right at your door step!
