How to Get There
Stayed here for 3 nights during our trip to Costa Rica. The hotel is nicely located out of the busy town (an easy 40 minute walk in, or a few minutes in a taxi), just across the road from the beach. Rooms are quiet and spacious and you can see and hear lots of birds from your balcony (we saw loads of toucans which was really special). We also did the jungle man tour which we really liked, and enjoyed the peaceful situation a lot.
Staff were really friendly but the service isn’t great, with messages not getting passed on. I ordered boiled eggs every morning for breakfast and that caused issues...on the second day, three different dishes appeared before boiled eggs came, a full 45 minutes after my husband had eaten his. Similar story with room service, and lunch - I’d be nervous to eat here with a serious food allergy because even if you triple check that a dish won’t contain something, it tends to turn up with precisely that ingredient! I ordered salad without oil that came with oil; vegetables without oil that came with oil; a salad without nuts but which had nuts...it became tiring after a while.
Breakfast was ok but not a great variety, and the restaurant menu was shockingly expensive - definitely wouldn’t eat or drink in the hotel unless you don’t mind paying US$4 for water! It’s a shame because the actual rooms were lovely and the staff super nice, just let down by lack of standards and continuity/communication..
my son and I had a great time riding bikes and walking the beach, another great trip to le Cameleon, our third. I love the improvements! Great service and great location makes a great trip. See you again soon!
Caribbean of Costa Rica was excellent. Sunny days which was amazing! The staff.food at the beach restuarant. Free cooking class was fantastic! Walking tour by Jungle Man was great and free. Thanksgiving dinner was a bonus! Could be advertised upon arrival or a sign. Staff helped with tours or suggestions. Jaguar rescue center is a 5 minute walk and 20 dollar entry. They have change when the hotel does not for US dollars. *asked all week for changed no luck and no real help. Please improve not just me I heard other guest ask as well. Slept well with Air con.Tip card key demagnitize with cell phone. Separate them for future travellers. Caribeans chocolate tour is also close the hotel. I was able run on the beach and roads. Massage was just ok. I was not allowed to have it at the beach no real reason why. Not a big deal just communicate better.Bikes and locks on site. Bakery near by.
The hotel is nice, however dated and needs an update. The overall service was just ok. The breakfast was in the open air which unfortunately brought a lot of bugs around the food. The property has direct access to the beach. While the hotel needs a renovation, it is probably one of the better hotels in the area.
Excellent service. Very clean room. Breakfast...YUM!!!! Staff was very accommodating. Our room was upgraded at check in because the requested room wasn't available for the second night and Gerardo didn't want us to have to change rooms the following day. Jessica was super accommodating, and patient, when we wanted to see a couple of room types. Then... from Jessica hearing about our recent wedding, 2 nights before, we arrived to our room after dinner to find a nice bottle of spumante on ice and 2 glasses awaiting us!!! Big thanks to all the staff for kindness and attention to detail!!
