What We Love
- A relaxing country hotel and spa, with breakfast, a spa discount and optional dinnerGoing for a post-treatment stroll down to the glassy lake and taking in some fresh country air
- Heading into Birmingham to shop or exploring the pretty town of Royal Leamington Spa
- Tucking into expertly cooked British classics in the hotel's Brasserie
Set within 83 acres of leafy grounds and landscaped gardens, you’d hardly guess that Ardencote in Warwick was just a 40-minute drive from Birmingham. Perfectly located for combining a shopping trip with a soothing spa break, this four-star hotel is a gorgeous red brick building, trailing with ivy and perched on the edge of a large lake.
The elegant spa offers a sleek, modern space for treatments and the extensive leisure centre has an indoor and outdoor pool, open seasonally due to the good old British weather. There are also squash courts, tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course to get stuck into.
Good to know
Please note that children are not allowed to use the outdoor pool.

How to Get There
I booked this as a surprise trip for my partner for our anniversary. I booked though secret escapes, the deal was an overnight stay 3 course meal with a bottle of wine, a cream tea and breakfast the next morning, which sounded like really good value - and it was.
We arrived and had our cream tea on the terrace which was lovely and very relaxing. We then checked into our room which was a good size and clean. My one negative is that the bathroom was a little dated, which is a theme throughout the whole hotel - it could probably do with some updating but that didn't really bother us.
Our evening meal was awesome, we had a sharing starter of camembert followed by the fish for me and the lamb for my partner which again were both very good. Followed by dessert - we had a good selection of wines to choose from as part of the deal.
Breakfast was a good buffet with lots of variety to choose from - the sausages were especially nice.
Overall I think if you're going to book it as a package as we did then it's definitely worth it.
Stayed with my wife for a two night bed, breakfast and dinner break. For us, one of the main attractions for a mini break is nice food. On the website it looked delicious. Unfortunately in reality for me it was awful. The first night I chose the lamb. Over cooked and tough as old boots. You need a side with it but weren't aware until too late. The second night I had the cod. Unpleasant with a hard boiled egg on top. (Supposed to be poached) the starters are uninspiring and the desserts were dreadful. Spiced winter cake in July? The best of all of them is to ask for ice cream. Breakfast is corporate buffet style. Untouched dry eggs under a heat lamp, usual toaster on a conveyor belt, nasty coffee. In all honesty, if we had booked three nights I would have had to eat elsewhere and lost the money. Evening restaurant staff where nice and attentive but reception and morning staff were not really bothered one way or another. Room was big enough and clean. Peaceful and quiet with a surrounding golf course. I wouldn't return.
Stayed for 1 night and the room was good as was the food, both breakfast and dinner. We spent a day in the Spa and had a number of treatments, all of which were very good.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
