How to Get There
My Husband and I recently stayed at this hotel for 10 nights. It was recommended by one of our friends who lives locally as it is not really a hotel that is promoted prominently by UK tour operators so had not appeared in my searches.
First observations is that the hotel is very stylish, beautifully designed in a contemporary style with splashes of Asian influences which is a very refreshing change from the traditional Thai style hotel. The rooms are all arranged around a central swimming pool with some rooms having direct swim up access from an adjacent lagoon. Also, it is instantly noticeable that despite the hotel being situated on a busy road in a bustling area it is surprisingly quite once inside. Birdsong is piped in around the pool bar, which also helps with the relaxing ambiance. This is definitely an area for quiet relaxation mostly suiting couples or families with very small children.
This should not deter travellers who prefer things a little more vibrant as the hotel has a fantastic beach club called Catch which is a short shuttle drive away, provided free by the hotel. Catch is a beach club with massage cabanas and excellent food from Thai, Sushi & seafood to pizza, burgers and steaks etc. There is also a Catch Kids club next door which a massive selection of activities from wall climbing, spider ropes, jumping pillow, DJ lessons, face painting etc meaning that this hotel will appeal to families with children of all ages not just couples. It is clear that the beach club’s restaurant is popular with well heeled ex-pat locals that come to dine and in the evening a DJ turns Catch into a buzzy club.
The rooms are also very contemporary and very well appointed and have the latest in technology with Bluetooth connectivity and the latest films available to watch. I was lucky enough to get a look into a couple of different types of rooms. The standard rooms surrounding the pool are larger than expected with a glass wall in the bathroom area with a private garden behind which gives the feel of a lot of space and also promotes tranquility. Behind these rooms are the Duplex’s and Penthouses which all have their own pool for those who prefer maximum privacy. It is worth noting that the Duplex Pool Suites do not get full sun during the day as they are on the ground floor so if this is something that you require it is best to book a Penthouse which has the pool on the top floor. Each of these rooms have approximately 230m2 of space which is absolutely massive and include a separate living and dining area with huge bathrooms that include ‘his & hers’ facilities. They also come with your own personal Room Co-ordinater or Butler who will give you their mobile number so you can text them to help with anything from restaurant reservations to booking excursions to just brining some ice to the room. This is a very nice personal touch and really shows that this hotel is going above and beyond in terms of guest services.
We ate in all the restaurants except the HQ which is in a different area although it again has a free shuttle bus service but we just didn’t quite make it there. All the food is excellent, very well prepared. There is a very good choice in the Pool Bar for lunches from Thai food to salads and club sandwiches. The Mexican Chili Hot Wings were very good!
The Oriental Spoon as it says mostly features Asian food but has a good choice of non Asian food with very exceptional and reasonably priced Wagu beef. This restaurant also features a regular Sunday Brunch which again seems popular with people from outside of the hotel so it is best to book in advance. This was an ‘all you can eat’ buffet affair with just about everything you can imagine including a Bloody Mary bar and a fantastic selection of Cheese, again at a very reasonable price. This restaurant also offers a Tom Yum cooking class where the head chef will show you how to make this traditional tasty dish including how to chop the ingredients. This is accompanied by a recipe, an apron and a certificate so you can take this new skill home. This was a very enjoyable experience especially as we’ve been trying to get this dish right for years!
The Palm Seaside restaurant is also very good, beautifully designed and with a great selection of food with the focus being on seafood and sushi but with plenty of other choice. A fantastic choice of cocktails perfect for sundowners.
There is also an Wine Room which we also didn’t get chance to experience however we did check the wine list and it is very extensive so I am sure that even the most experienced wine buff will not be disappointed.
I could go on and on about this hotel but the thing that stands out the most is the service. All the staff are very helpful, courteous and offer service with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble. You only need to visit a restaurant once and they remember everything from where you prefer to sit and what drinks you like.
We would like to say an especially big thank you to Yah who completely looked after us from day one and made the trip the most memorable.
Could not recommend this hotel enough and will look forward to trying out the new Twin Palms being built on Kamala beach.
I’m not sure where to even start. I’m hoping this review can help someone considering planning a destination or local wedding at Twinpalms since we could not find any wedding-related reviews prior to our decision to have our wedding at Twinpalms. Their brochure was lovely and we asked many questions via email. The team went above and beyond with answering our questions and helping us problem-solve and all in a very attentive, detailed, organized and expedient manner. After over a year of communicating via email, we arrived in Phuket. We met the team and were greeted with a delicious welcome drink and kind service including the famous Thai smile. The expediency continued as all of our requests such as needing ice, needing a steamer for my dress, housekeeping were immediately addressed. The facility itself is beautiful and we did a walkthrough with one of the coordinators. They were able to get us roomed 2 hours early and they upgraded us to their 3-floor penthouse which was unreal. Modern, spacious and stunning. We had a sizable pool on the third floor where we hosted a pool party the evening before our wedding and catered by Oriental Spoon. The dinner and breakfast at Oriental Spoon are delicious. The wedding itself went perfectly. The team was available and attentive to address all issues. Everyone involved from hair and makeup to photography appeared to be skillful. The dinner was amazing and our guests made it clear that they enjoyed their meal. We also hosted an after party for our guests at Catch Beach Club. We had a great time there as well. We could not have been happier with our wedding weekend and are so thankful for how perfect everything was. We highly highly recommend Twinpalms for your next stay and/or a wedding.
Well where to begin...when we arrived we were warmly greeted with a glass of bubbly and almost immediately felt a sense of calm and relaxation.
Throughout our stay we were treated exceptionally well - the staff were extremely professional and helpful. We ate at the oriental spoon on a number of occasions and it never disappointed! In addition to this, the shuttle service to the beach clubs were excellent and these provided an opportunity to spend the day there.
To finish it off I was given a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine delivered to our room on my birthday, which I had not announced to the staff but they had recognised the date and subtly sent over the bottle of fizz as a present, amazing!
I would definitely recommend Twinpalms for those looking for a relaxing holiday. The staff are exceptional and the design from the entrance to pools to the room quality is impeccable. We are already planning our next trip!
Lengthy review but I had to pen this. We booked in advance and paid in full. Two rooms and each one costing nearly $275.00 a night - total 2 rooms x 3 nights so paid $1650.00.
Not cheap really considering Thailand is a cheap place. Although paying this much we thought we’d be going in the lap of luxury.
We arrived around 12pm.
The hotel on arrival seemed pleasant and nice and serene which it is. Check in was easy however the management and staff seem and act as if they don’t know English at all. This is a bit strange considering all of Thailand relies on tourism.
I had trouble explaining my scenario to the staff regarding my accompanying friends unforeseen delay. Unfortunately our friends had a family emergency and could not make it for the first two nights and stayed eventually only for one night. I stayed for all 3.
So I tried explaining to the staff and requested if we could get upgraded if not compensated for the two nights that was going waste. They could not understand what I was saying - quite possibly deliberate ! My English is perfect and I work in the UK in the fashion industry and work around foreigners all the time. I was having trouble explaining a very simple scenario to the staff. It was frustrating to say the least.
Also Enroute from India I messaged / emailed the hotel desk about this scenario and till date no reply to the email has been received.
I gave up after 15 min of explaining and the staff though very polite and friendly took me to the library where they ask us what kind of smell and what kind of mattress we prefer so they will ready the room accordingly. It was basically placing a few jasmine flowers around the room and the mattress pillow choice was already default. The jasmine flowers kept in the room were not replaced again and when we were checking out had turned half black. I found it amusing. Although I have to say the rooms smelled fine.
We got our room in a few minutes and the room was not upgraded which is fine because they gave us what we booked and did not consider the situation or our request. Fair enough. Not the hotels fault. I am not a free loader and although I requested they declined.
Eventually when my friends arrived he managed to get his room upgraded after some convincing to a larger suite room however eventually when I saw the suite room it was not worth it. Just an added extension space and a sofa and tv and coffee machine.
Room was comfortable and large. Clean and functional. No complaints. Bed was one of the most comfortable ones I have been in.
Shower was good as it should be.
The one major flaw in this room and this is only an opinion and suggestion. There is no place to open your case and keep it. We had two large bags and we had to place them on the floor because there was no bench or dedicated space for the bags. It’s one of the only hotels I have seen not having this. Bad for people having bad backs.
Toiletries are like gold and sacred here. Everything has a sticker price to it. Even shaving kit and toothbrush kit is chargeable. What a joke !! There is a beach bag kept in the closet that says clearly if this is removed and used we will be charged 2100 baht.
If you are staying or booking here please bring your toiletries and a beach bag else get ready to pay.
For the money the hotel seemed a bit tight on basic amenities. I mean even three star motels offer the basics free. Thankfully we carry everything however unusual to see the toiletries placed near the mini bar with a sticker price tag.
The coffee machine in the room is a kettle and a very strange press to put the coffee. So if you like coffee in the room. Forget it. The contraption they have is ancient and does not work. Again strange considering these prices will get us nespresso machines anywhere in the world now.
Breakfast is average to good and choice of food and variety is limited. No complaints neither any exciting options. I was not looking forward to breakfast the second and third morning honestly speaking.
Staff is very nice and polite. I asked for a ice coffee and they brought a brilliant one out. Nice.
The surprising part here is only one restaurant for such a Large and expensive place.
They do have a connected restaurant called catch which is on a public beach and is about ten min away by shuttle. It serves great food by the way.
So no beach connected to the resort. There is the Surin beach across the hotel but it’s invaded by thousands of tourists.
The pool here is large and extremely good to swim in. One of the best pools I have been in. However must warn you the sunbeds are few and they go away for the entire day around 9 am. I swam only in the late evenings. I like to swim and not sit on sunbeds but a lot of people do and they may have trouble finding one.
I spoke to one of the staff to request if I could get a special speed boat tour of the islands at whatever price. however I needed it at 1 pm since my friend arrived only at 12. They said no as the tours only leave around 8-9 AM.
We made a few phone calls and managed to get what I wanted. We were willing to spend but only wanted the hotel to book it however this was also a challenge.
Overall I don’t have anything against the hotel however the lack of response from the management and difficulty in explaining a very simple scenario Has put me off and I don’t think I would stay here again.
It’s a bit far from all the action and does not have a beach anywhere near it. Is expensive by at least 30-40%. Does Not have restaurants. The bar is boring. Nothing accompanying it or nothing exciting in the neighbourhood. In short the hotel grounds are uninteresting.
The room is good and comfy no doubt and the staff even though hardly knows English is sweet and polite.
I have stayed in over a hundred hotels and am a non fussy traveler but I had to jot this down exactly as I thought.
My experience in the next city Bangkok was brilliant and exceptional.
I visited twin palms sometime in June last year. The experience was really good. The rooms were really nicely furnished, the resort felt really cosy and comfortable, and the food at their restaurant (urban spoon) was excellent. Most importantly, the service was excellent. During our stay there we were attended to in a prompt and friendly manner.
On the third day of our stay my girlfriend had an accident at the beach near catch beach club that required her to seek medical attention at the nearby Bangkok hospital. The staff at catch beach club and twin palms were extremely helpful. Special mention to Team from Twin Palms/catch beach club, who really went above and beyond to help my girlfriend and me. He followed us to the hospital and waited there till she was warded, just to ensure that we were doing ok. A few hours later, I told him that I wanted to head back to twin palms to check out so I could spend the night at the hospital with my girlfriend, and he volunteered to send me back to twin palms, wait for me to pack and check out, before driving me back to the hospital late at night. He even volunteered to drive us to the airport the next day if required!
Without his kind help, it would have been so much more difficult logistics wise. He also helped me communicate with the hospital staff to ensure nothing was lost in translation.
Thank you Team and the Twin Palms team for making our stay a comfortable one and helping us out!
