Angsana Laguna Phuket
What We Love
- The service: Friendly without being overly familiar, and genuinely patient; it’s the famous Thai hospitality on full display
- Great Thai and international offerings at casual Market Place restaurant
- The spa: An affordable and wide-ranging spa menu, with everything from scrubs and body wraps to massages and facials of all stripes
- At the resort’s heart is an enormous free-form pool
- Central location means you don’t have to worry about a stressful or lengthy drive to/from the airport or into Phuket town
What To Know
- This is primarily a family and honeymooners resort; those seeking solitude or silence will get annoyed
- The grounds are extensive, and the property is mostly open-air, so if you have problems walking or need wall-to-wall air conditioning, this isn’t the place for you
- Phuket isn’t Maui: There’s no luxury shopping here, and no glitz (which is central to its charm)
- Pack the bug spray. Phuket, like all tropical islands, can be buggy, and the resort does sit atop a lagoon
- Free WiFi
- Handicap Accessible
- Kids Club
- Parking On Site

How to Get There
It was a great stay although the weather was rainy on most days. Room was very clean but during the downpour, one of our bedroom had a ceiling leak which was attended to after a while. However, the leak became worse on our last day. Food was good but not great due to limited choices especially the BBQ buffet. Location is good although it was a bit far from Patong which is considered the tourist area and taxi fare was pricey. Overall, Angsana Laguna was well worth every penny that we spent for this vacation!
We have just returned from staying here for 5 nights, family of 4- 2 adults and 2 kids. We stayed in a Laguna premier room and were later upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite due to some issues. Highly rate the hotel, very kid friendly. Loved the pools with the interconnecting canals so you could swim from the swim up pool bar to your room further away.
Staff were very professional, friendly and polite, can’t rate them highly enough. They made us feel very welcome and made the entire stay very enjoyable, especially the staff at the suite checkin who allowed us to utilize our room for longer on our day of departure.
The premier room was nice and spacious, bathroom was very dated with a sunken bath which I doubt anyone uses. I didn’t like the bathroom. Generally the hotel is looking very tired and old but it’s kept well and it’s functional. The 2 bedroom suite was fantastic with 2 bathrooms, more modern then the older room, also with sunken baths but so much more spacious and a lot more amenities and perks.
Breakfast at marketplace was crowded and average, there was variety but it was average food. Breakfast at bodega and grill was much better, peaceful and quieter. We tried all the restaurants on site including in room dining and food is average. The food at Xana beach club was above average. Kids club was fantastic, kids loved going there and for kids 3 and under you have to hire a babysitter. Our young one is 3 so we hired her babysitters 4 days in a row, 2 hours each and she didn’t want to leave. One of the girls there Fon was so lovely with the girls and my little one only wanted her for a babysitter every time. My kids enjoyed it a lot.
Only tried the spa for my older one to get her nails done and braids in her hair. It was expensive for what it was but the ladies fawned over her and made her feel very pampered.
Rooms were clean and tidy, free shuttle bus and boat running between resorts in the Laguna and canal village which was a bonus. Highly recommend the hotel, we will be returning.
Comfortable bed and dark bedrooms
Water sports were great especially the sailing when the wind blows
Great breakfast selection although always running out of bacon
Great shuttle service (bus and boat) though boat doesn't run during rainy periods
Turn down service very good although didn't happen everyday
Numerous pool tiles broken/missing
Resort is massive and at times (Especially Breakfast) was very busy
Very expensive food / drink
Apartments showing their age. Had problems with noisy A/C, lights not working and leaky roof + general wear & tear throughout.
Poor communication during check-in
Not advised in advance about green surcharge US$1 per day and surcharge for shuttle services US$2 per day.
Mentioned prior to our visit that it was my wife's 40th and I was told they'd do a nice surprise for her. All that happened was they wrote HBD with bamboo on the bed which was very underwhelming.
Not a great selection of affordable restaurants within walking distance. We were limited to eating within the resort (Expensive) or the canal village (Also expensive and not great quality)unless we got a taxi ride
Would be useful to have a manual in the rooms to advise on all the facilities as we found the English from the lady who checked us in to be hard to understand.
Would have been helpful to know about the 2 day religious holiday prior to the day before as we weren't aware that we couldn't purchase alcohol during this time until the night before.
