Chic beachside resort with modern Thai-style suites and villas

The Lowdown

An intimate resort geared toward honeymooners and other travelers in the mood for romance (but also catering to families), Sala Samui has just 69 rooms, of which 53 are freestanding villas with private pools. The staff emphasizes privacy and personalized service, and romantic dinners for two or barbecues can be arranged on the beach or in guests’ villas. Thai and international chefs prepare meals in a variety of laid-back restaurants overlooking the 80-meter white-sand beach, ranging from the Thai favorites at the Beach Restaurant to Mediterranean delights at Pangaea, while a beachfront wine cellar houses an array of bottles from around the world. The spa, redolent with the scent of therapeutic flowers and spices, has four air-conditioned couples treatment rooms and four open-air salas (pavilions) that appear to float on a lotus pond.

In the Area

The island of Koh Samui, or Samui as locals and regular visitors call it, has a history that spans more than 325 years. It was discovered by backpackers several decades ago, but since the 1990s it’s come into its own as a sophisticated enclave of excellent spas, dining, and nightlife. The Big Buddha Temple is its most famous landmark, and the 12-meter-high golden deity is visited by devout locals as well as tourists. The hotel can also arrange private long-tail boat tours to the Five Islands to see caves, beaches, and bamboo houses perched on high limestone cliffs, on islands that were until recently completely inaccessible to foreigners.

Best service you can imagine

After our rather hectic Holiday in Phuket we looked (actually my wife did) for more private and tranquil hotel in Koh Samui. The Sala Samui was a perfect choice.
Generally spoken, I think you have a different atmosphere all-together in Koh Samui compared to Phuket so one have to choose..
Well, we have chosen well.
As always, "the bricks and the rooftops" doesn`t make the hotel but the people do.
And they made all the difference.
Jazz from Spa/treatment was a person to remember with her friendly smile and warm welcome but especially the whole staff from beach restaurant. What an attentiveness from all of them, starting from breakfast until the dinner service. Of course one will bound more to certain persons because of chemistry and personal liking but they were all brilliant- professional, friendly and approachable.
I`m not aware of the process of hotel choosing their staff but it is obviously working. We may find some better or more attractive deals but I can tell with highest confident that when we are coming back to Thailand, Sala Samui is on the top of our list.

Best resort of Samui, excellent food and service

Sala samui is a perfect resort, the staff was always happy to help and made our holiday super special. The breakfast menu a la carte which is included in your breakfast plan is worth as a Michelin star restaurant.

Beach white and clean, massages on the beach affordable, the spa is also excellent as well as the gym and the pools. A must to reserve hotel if you go to Koh Samui.

The BEST holiday at SALA

My husband and I stayed at SALA for 5 nights, from the minute we were picked up from the airport to the minute we were dropped back nothing was too much trouble for any staff member. We stayed in a garden villa pool which was absolutely stunning (would definitely recommend) see photos 😍
We would 100% recommend anyone going to Koh Samui to stay at this hotel you will not be disappointed!! Breakfast was fantastic!! One night we had dinner on the beach which was amazing, gorgeous food and views! We both had a treatment in the SPA which was one of the best massages I’ve ever had! All of the staff were so friendly and helpful and just couldn’t do enough for you!! For a fantastic holiday make sure you stay at SALA!!!!

This is our 10th hotel in the last month traveling around Bali and Thailand. There are some great hotels we have stayed at. But the Sala Samui exceeded all our expectation and more. We spent most of our time ate the fabulous pool. Had a section you could relax back in the water like a lounge chair. Black lap pool is surrounded by beautiful water lily ponds. Beach is right there. The pool guys are very attentive spreading your towels on the lounges and bringing ice water. Also bring fresh fruit in the afternoon. Breakfast buffet is delicious. Too many great things to tell you. They do mix up the side dishes one day to the next. Honey on the comb dripping into a container was so wonderful. Free breakfast all day long. At restaurant or in room. Extra special touches. Pick the fragrance of lotion and soap in your room. We were physically challenged by the stairs to the balcony and the management was immediately able to accommodate us. No hassle. Definitely book a villa, so with the money. Nice gift shop and library with computer. My one and only critique is the toilet paper holders. Pretty, but useless. Toilet paper roll comes off every time. Easy walk to various street restaurants and local mini market. The hotels on Koh Samui are fabulous that we stayed at but this one by far I would fly the 20 hours to go to again. Amazing, awesome, fabulous!!! They give you a letter telling you that if you book through them next time you receive many benefits. Just have to show the letter. Mine is going in the safe so I don’t loose it :)
