Amazing stay at this island resort!
Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at Jumeirah Vittaveli in February 2019 and were overall very happy with our stay.

The resort and island atmosphere is amazing and indescribeable. We felt very welcome, cared for and in a different luxury world. Excellent service was one of the main reasons for this - the amazing staff solved every little challenge we had and did not take no for an answer.
An example was a need for an upgrade in the wi-fi connection to be availble at the beach, and a possibility to carry things with you on the bike (all guests are provided with a bike to be able to bike around the island in addition to the buggy servie). The solutions were a personal wi-fi router and a new bike with a basket in front to carry things in.

The dining experience is also amazing. You can choose between several great restaurants in addition to the main restaurant, and all with great menu varity and food quality. When you are on a meal plan you can choose to eat at the main restaurant for dinner or carry a specified amount of dollars with you to any of the other restaturants. This gives great flexibility for guests - very much appreciated, Drinks are not included in meal plans and should be payed seperately, though. Buying e.g. a can soda was very expensive (ca. 9 dollars for a Fanta) and something that affects the value for money in total.

We very much appreciated the Kids Club as well. The staff was so welcoming to our children (age 1 and 4), and the oldest made use of the great activity program nearly every day So caring, attentive and creative staff.

If you are into water sports there are tons of different acitivities as well. One we made use of as a family was the semi-submarine, which takes you to the the house coral reefs and lets the guests see coral reefs and fish through the thick glass windows. Amazing, though a little expensive as well.

All in all we can really recommend Jumeirah Vittaveli - yes, it is a little expensive, and yes, value for money is a bit difficult to see in some of the pricing, but in all we had an amazing vacation and would definitely visit again.

Travelling with a 16month old, we chose the hotel due to its proximity to Male and the Jumeirah brand. The beach villa was beautiful and spacious, and all our enquiries were met upon arrival: a cot and highchair, babyproofed pool, nappies, and open view to the sea were all there.

However the hotel is not to a high standard. Housekeeping is bad. There were rusted nails scattered, one of them inside the outdoor shower(!). I found out thirty minutes after our arrival when I saw my daughter playing with one. The dirty floor full of black ash from the mosquito fumigation was only cleaned with mop and water only after numerous phonecalls and complaints. But most importantly, the sea bottom just in front of the villa and just a few steps in the water was scattered with glass beer bottles, aluminium cans and plastic bags. We have never encountered anything like this before three steps from the sand. Very unpleasant to get in/out of the sea, and unacceptable when you choose Maldives for... the beach and sea.

During the baby’s naps we had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Twice the hotel staff ignored the sign and knocked on the door to deliver fruit which we haven’t ordered, waking up the baby.

We found the food not great, but we haven’t tried the Swarna which is supposed to be very good. The seared foie gras at the Fenesse was good though as well as the fresh lobster at MU. The in-room dining messed up many of the orders. Waiting 40 minutes for the lunch to arrive just to find out that our daughter’s food was missing and then to wait another 20 minutes, is not ideal when you have a hungry child to feed.

The kids club and babysitting service were very good and punctual.

My husband was very pleased with the scuba diving staff, he was the only diver most of the time, so it felt quite private. I had a massage at the Spa and it was very good.
People are very kind, very baby friendly and smiley but this is the case almost everywhere in Asia. Each time something went wrong, they were super apologetic but not particularly efficient.

We wouldn’t come back and we wouldn’t recommend to demanding travellers.

We stayed in one of the newly refurbished ocean villas with water slide in Jan/Feb 2019. From the moment we were collected at the airport on the boat, to being waved off 8 days later we felt welcome throughout. The Villa was simply amazing... I was concerned that needing a boat would be a pain before I went but it could not have been easier. When I called it always came within a few mins, and sometimes we just hailed it as it went past, it became part of the experience. The staff looked after us royaly and could not do enough for us and the kids. The water sports were fun, fishing trip amazing and boat out to the isolated sand bank unforgettable.Don't usually do reviews as I travel a lot but this stood out above and beyond and deserves the recognition for being outstanding.
