No stress indeed!!

Amazing hotel it looks just like sand castles! The pool is good but not as big as it looks in the pictures. Spent most our time at the beach, windy, but it was just right! The sea was actually pretty warm once you got past the waves!

The love the fact that they have cats around the hotel and they’re actually safe to pet! I fell in love with the black one with the slightly crossed eye and have named him felix ( please look after him)

The food is good, it is constantly the same but people need to understand that they can’t grow food on the island so everything gets shipped over, so that’s probably why it’s near enough the same every day.

It’s very chilly at night so do bring trousers and a jacket. The entertainment is very good, but I really did dislike when the English pitch perfect singers were doing entertaining for the night, weren’t good at singing and pretty annoying.

Staff are always friendly, always singing and dancing with bottles in their heads!! Just want to say thanks the Serifo for being the best glass collector, always dancing and wanting to chat!

Amazing holidays!
Massive hotel, close to airport but no moise, animation team and staff absolutely top notch (they are the friendliest people ever), gorgeous beach and sea, nice pool, all day activities, lots of food and no stress!
For the tours I did quad bike to santa monica and albeit difficult to drive it's so worth it!A taxi to sal rei for a reality check is a must as well. Walks on the beach are totally safe and beautiful!
Only suggestions for the hotel would be to make it more acessible for disabled people (no lifts and huge ramp), to have more traditional food, shows and live music, so as to not be so "european".

Great relaxing holiday

Hotel transfer was really quick. We had to wait an hour for our room .. however we requested a quiet upper floor room and that’s what we got so maybe that’s why the wait. Hotel rooms cleaned every day and cleaners always leave their own personal touch bless them. Very quiet and unlit as rooms are away from main activities. Can see why people say beds are uncomfortable but we found them fine, however if you do struggle I know you can ask the hotel for a mattress topper.

Lots of stray cats roaming around hotel but they didn’t bother us. Some are really friendly and try to jump on your lap. Lots of stray dogs barking on the beach and they are not so friendly.

Beach is amazing. So soft and the sea was warm. The waves are strong.. my partner loved them but they knocked me off my feet a few times

Could not make up my mind about hotel staff - some were friendly but some were extremely rude. The manager was very pleasant and the Riu animation team are brilliant fun and work really hard.

We thought the food was great. There was plenty of variety but can understand if people think it can get a bit repetitive. You can eat breakfast and lunch in either the main restaurant or at the pool. Dinner is just served at the main restaurant so can get busy. However there are snacks at the pool constantly throughout the day. There are speciality restaurants but you have to book in advance by 3 days so we just about got them in to our holiday.

Bars are great, my favourite being the swim up bar which had a great atmosphere with loads of places to sit. However, it’s right by the beach so it seems like a tunnel for the wind. I loved the cocktails but I came back with a husky voice which I believe is from the cheap alcohol. Wines and beer on tap in restaurants throughout the day.

The weather was lovely.. clouds can be deceiving so wear lots of sun cream. It is windy but when the sun is shining it’s fine. We had one miserable day in the week we were there but didn’t stop us going outside it was just colder than the other days.

The spa is great too.. really quiet during the day and plenty of daily/weekly offers on treatments so don’t book until the day you want one. Go to jacuzzis and sauna before 4pm if you want a quiet time.

The only thing that has let this place down massively for me is the amount of kids especially around the pool area. Children should really not be allowed in the swim up bar. Would be good if there was an adults only area. Also, no iron in room and when I rang reception to ask for an iron they wanted €50.

Overall a fabulous holiday and we would return. I’d recommend only if you want to relax as not much to do, we did not leave hotel.

Honest review

I stayed for 10 nights from late May and paid approximatey £950, which in my opinion is not worth the money. That being said, at the right price and with a few improvements, I would return to this hotel.

The hotel is about 5-10 minutes drive from the airport, which is ideal. Can’t say I noticed a flight come in or out. Upon approach to the hotel, the first thing you notice is a hotel being built beside it... no idea how we didn’t notice any building noise, but we didn’t. Cue isn’t that long and you are met with a nice orange juice by the quality staff.

The staff are all fantastic. I honestly can’t fault any of them. Very relaxed, happy, professional people. The only member of staff I thought was a bit off, was the manager who on occasions publicly criticised certain waiting staff and members of the animation team. Nothing like a good power trip.

The room. Some people have said they need updating. I don’t think they do. They are decorated in a traditional African style. As usual, you’re double bed is more like 2 double beds pushed together, making one huuuge pretty comfortable bed. Free safe and air con. The wardrobe is more or less in the bathroom, but this isn’t a major issue. Rooms were cleaned to a high standard each day, with bed towels and bed clothes changed upon request. TV had plenty of British channels, including a Comedy film channel, an Action film channel and Sky News.

The grounds are huge and there is a lot of wasted ground. The gardeners appear to work tirelessly and in all honesty, they make the place look beautiful.

The pool is good. As many people have mentioned there are a few tiles etc missing, which should be rectified straight away, as people do actually appear to be injuring themselves on them. The sunbeds are what you would expect.. if you get up early you will get the good ones, near the pool/bar etc but if you are up late, like we were, there were still plenty of sunbeds to go around.

The beach is brilliant. Plenty of sunbeds, nice and breezy, watching the nice view of the sea is quality.

The entertainment staff are good. Not pushy at all. Good range of activites including, beach volleyball/football, french bowles, darts, bingo, water polo and plenty of RIU Fit classes. There is the usual song they play constantly that will irritate you eventually but it’s all fun.

At first the food is ok, gets repetitive and then eventually puts you off eating. On two occasions I got chicken - medium/rare, which put me off completely.

Much like the food, the drink at first is ok. But after a few days it’s very difficult to drink any of the alcohol.

For the price I paid, I would have expected better food and at least some premium drinks. Budget seems to be focussed on quantity of food and not quality. I would hate to see the waste bins of the buffet restaurants.

The “speciality” restaurants are nothing “special” and in fact are just a different setting for eating the terrible food on offer.

The entertainment is actually pretty good. Pacha nightclub is decent for a dance if you stay up past the shows. The karaoke bar, underneath the main bar is a good night, if the right crowd are in.

Please improve the food and drink!! If this is done, I would have no issue in saying that this hotel is a 5*! Food and drink make the holiday, if the food and drink are terrible, it is likely to ruin, what should have been a quality holiday.

Trips - I would highly recommend the Catamaran afternoon cruise and the romantic sunset dinner.
