Missing tiles

Am due to do in six weeks and have had an email to say pools will be refurbished during September 2019 due to finish on 31/9 day we fly so great. They will drain one pool at a time and repair it to cut down on inconvenience- hope this helps anyone who is worried about going due to this

Family Holiday

Stayed here as a family of 4 in 2 rooms for a week. The transfer from the airport is great-literally 5 minutes but given how close it is you don't get bothered by the planes at all. The check in was very friendly and efficient and we got 2 great rooms 2031/32 which had views looking out to sea.
We've stayed at the Touareg before and the rooms have the same look and layout. The room was clean and the maid did a good job every day.
The food selection is good and I'd recommend the Asian themed restaurant (one of 3 speciality restaurants they have). A wide choice was available for breakfast, lunch and evening meals.
The pool area, as everyone says, does need attention and has loads of tiles missing and we saw people who had cut their feet. The beach was great and the sea much calmer than on the south of the island where we've been before.
Every member of staff we came across was friendly and helpful and really seemed to care about the guests.
Would happily recommend this hotel.

TYPICAL SPANISH 1970S PACKAGE HOLIDAY

Just returned from 2 weeks family holiday with two teenagers, 14 & 18.

Hotel is rundown, the communal areas look fine (apart from the pool....) but the rooms are old fashioned and tired.

The rooms do not have electronic door keys, just standard front door key. We were told by a rep to be very careful with belongings as there is no record of who enters your room.... our door had to be slammed and held with force to lock it, if we didnt double lock it, it wasnt a tight fit. The wood around the lock looked like it had been gnawed at by angry dogs!

Everywhere was clean, cannot fault that, bit of a smell from our bathroom but nothing major.

Beds are like what I can only imagine are issued either in prison or at an overseas army base - horrendous, lumpy, creaky, thin. Bedding v poor.

There are 3 al la carte restaurants, the African and the Cape Verde restaurant were pretty much identical and not far off from the main buffet. The Asian was the only one where it felt different, fresh and lots of choice. There is no table service other than being shown to it and then its just a help yourself buffet again.

The main buffet was basic at best, 2 weeks or the same food every single night was painful. I get that its all incl and its a buffet, but I have stayed in plenty of hotels where the buffet is very varied and even hold themed nights. Food was tasteless and regularly saw boxes of frozen food just thrown into the fryers. If you have any dietary requirements, good luck!

Entertainment was really good, amazing job by the animation team, great costumes and lots of effort. Always well attended.

After the show the entertainment area is like a ghost town, it took us a week to find out that there is a kareoke bar underneath the hotel reception and a few people go there, but other than that its a quiet place past 10pm.

Quality of drinks are poor, very chemically and any cocktails so so sweet or tasted like chemicals, found it very hard to enjoy.

Trips - there is no such thing. They of course arrange trips but its literally a trip for the sake of it, there is NOTHING to see. We went on a full day tour of the North of the Island, village after village, they look the same, nobody about, nothing to see, just nothingness.

We hired a car and a private driver in the hope of seeing something authentic, but as helpful as he was there really wasnt anything to show. Its like the surface of the moon.

All the staff in the hotel are great - no complaints, very pleasant.

Corridors are really noisy from 6am onwards.

The gymnasium is 18+ they are very strict with this, which is a shame as it does not interfere with the spa.

The swimming pool is in such bad repair I am convinced 50% of the pool is missing tiles. Lots of cut toes.

Definitely needs a bit of TLC. No element of luxury at all.

WIFI works fine throughout.

If you want cheap and cheerful and you have young kids then I would say you would be fine, anything over that, not so much.
