How to Get There
Lots of beautiful nooks to relax here. Great dinner - breakfast food was pretty good - and absolutely beautiful spa. This place is really big - it doesn't have a very intimate feel - but it feels like an oasis. Loved the shower!
Hotel Casa Santo Domingo is probably the best resort I have ever stayed at. I have been back 3 times and every time I have stayed there I discover new things about the place. The hotel has ruins, history, stores, great restaurants and bars. The staff is very attentive and will to assist. Highly recommend it.
I held my organization annual meeting at Hotel Casa Santo Domingo this week with great satisfaction in all our activities by all. The 40+ people we brought from all Latin America were not only impressed by the quality and taste of the food but the fantastic setting this Hotel is. I used the Spa before the meeting and it is a must to pamper yourself in a superb setting to relax. A would recommend this hotel for any business function where satisfaction in all your expectation for a successful meeting will be insured.
I recently stayed at Hotel Casa Santa Domingo with our group from Expand Hope. We were able to spend some time with the owner, Diego, learning the history of the hotel site and his family's efforts to restore and preserve what they could from the Monastery from the earthquake in 1773. It was fascinating to hear about the history of this beautiful hotel and all the philanthropic efforts that Diego's family is part of in the community of Antigua.
The hotel itself is a true resort. There is so much to see and do from visiting the museums, touring the crypts, shopping, dining, even taking in a church service.
The Spa. The spa is amazing. So beautiful and serene. It is the most relaxing setting I've encountered in a spa environment and the treatments are very reasonably priced and the spa staff are ahhhh-mazing. Definitely an experience you don't want to miss.
The rooms have everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. The showers are rain showers and very spacious.
I hope my travels take me back to Antigua one day so I can stay at this one of a kind oasis. Highly recommend!
A typical trip advisor review is a standard commentary on the resort, amenities etc.; this review goes much deeper than the typical. This review is about Diego, his family , his social consciousness and unashamed love for his country and people.
Like a Picasso vs a box store print, like a classic Ferrari vs mass produced Corvettes, like a custom hand crafted residence vs a cookie cutter home….. Casa Santa Domingo has been lovingly unearthed and restored from under 13m of rubble by Diego and his family.
Now understanding what passion and pride drives the development and operation of this resort, there is no level of written commentary that would replace a personal experience, and I will leave it to you to conclude the level of detail put into every aspect of resort operations and customer service. It is unlike any we have come across our travels of Europe, Caribbean and South and North America.
This is not a business driven by profit but rather one fueled by passion!!
Uncompromising – our group had the privilege of spending a morning with Diego as he toured us through the through the resort and adjoining schools, which his family helps and supports.
Under Estimated – hidden behind the unassuming walls along the streets of Antigua lies a hidden treasure rich in history.
Unparalleled – if the following are on your bucket list ; stay in a 15th century monastery, have a spa experience second to none, enjoy numerous art galleries, stroll through a few museums, sample locally crafted chocolate, shop for ceramics, candles and other items (all crafted by employees of the resort) enjoy the pool side and sit in the shadows of a volcano…..
Unique – no further explanation required
