Beautiful meal

Our first night in Guatemala and an amazing meal. The dishes are stunning in appearance . Started with salads which are small and not typical . Mine with corn, hearts of palm and dressing artfully placed on plate . The sea bass with yucca , squash purée and I think chayote was equally beautiful . The yucca bits were almost gnocchi like . The squash purée was sweet and the fish was perfectly done . Many at our table also enjoyed pasta which was a large amount . The venue is also amazing it is steeped in history and I think I may need to come back in daytime to truly appear the old walls of the monastery . Wine was good thought they did run out of our selection quickly

Vacation and Wedding trip

What else can be said about Casa Santo Domingo other than this place is pure magic.

My boyfriend and I were in Guatamala for a wedding that was to be held at Casa Santo Domingo. Our stay in Antigua was just under two weeks and half of that was spent at another hotel nearby. When we checked in to Casa Santo Domingo, we were floored.
The grounds are lush and well maintained, full of life and majestic greenery. The care and respect paid to the original foundations of the ruins is apparent in every minute detail of the hotel.
The concierge desk was helpful and warm, catering to our every need. We happened to call upon them more than a normal hotel stay would require, unfortunately, yet they never made us feel anything other than cared for.
An incident with a fireplace in another room lead us to calling them in the wee-hours of the morning. Immediately, without hesitation, a person was sent up to help us. They offered us another room for the evening in order to have “a restful nights sleep” the day of the wedding. Being in the wedding party means a long day ahead and I felt like they understood that.
The day after the wedding, we spoke with the concierge about the smoke incident. They were kind and understanding. We were called shortly after, offered an upgrade and told that the previous night was taken off the bill. (!!!)
The upgrade consisted of the best room in the hotel (136!) a spiral staircase leading up to a private rooftop with a jacuzzi bath tub, and a walkway that lead to a private entrance to the spa which was free of charge with the room.
The hotel spa is beyond beautiful. A must-see.
The hotel offers a free shuttle to an art garden on top the near mountain. A lovely windy short ride later, you can walk for hours around this amazing place full of hidden art and installations. The restaurant at the end is DELICIOUS, and also part of the hotel so service is magnificent, just like the view.
The hotel bed turn-down also provides slippers, a lavender pillow spray, and mints. They also turned the tv on to a light jazz station with no picture and the lights on low when we returned our first night. Wow. Talk about ambiance...
This is also the cleanest hotel I've ever seen. Absolutely. Spotless.
If you seek luxury and relaxation, with a healthy dose of historical charm, please believe me when I say this is the best place for you.

The wedding was something out of a Disney movie. Every tiny detail was well thought out, everything you saw was splendid from every which-way you looked.

Also, Antigua is safe— it’s people and culture are beautiful, plus the food is superb.

I have to add that the kind concierge person that helped us was a huge part of why we loved the staff here so much. I hope he reads this! Thank you!

Wedding and Reception -- UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Wedding in the church was beautiful, reception in the grand salon was AMAZING. Flowers and candles everywhere, beautiful dance floor, chandeliers and flowers for every table, outstanding food. Cannot say enough about the quality and service.
