Standards have slipped, but its still a good place.

It's a great hotel and we have used it for more than ten years we have seen it grow and evolve. It began as a small boutique with a nice pool catering for anyone with enough money in the area who wanted an upmarket experience.

The rooms are great, you cannot really go wrong from the basic room to the best suites, they will all exceed your expectations.

The new Tower 4 with its famous Aqua Club and Spa is really very good, however, the actual standard of entertainment varies. take for example the trumpet and saxophone players-what is that about? For my party and me, it was just a noise. Also, there appears to be a propensity by security to allow in a select number of unaccompanied prostitutes into the bar at the weekends. This in itself is fine and caters to many of the hotel's users, however for us they were just a pain in the ass. They even pursued us to the restaurant downstairs and pestered us there when we were trying to eat a quiet meal which really ticked us off. Eventually, we had to ask someone to kick them out. These same girls were happily showing off their ability to get free drinks (with vouchers) and treat the staff rather poorly which did not sit well with us at all. Essentially the hookers ruined what was otherwise a great night. We won't bother with the club again until this is fixed.

Our other gripe was the appalling level of service in the restaurant. There are loads of staff, a few customers but staggering poor levels of attentiveness. We ordered an expensive Medoc wine two glasses of XO brandy and their signature steak dish. The wine arrived after 15 minutes with no sign of the aperitif cognac (1000 pesos per glass!) Eventually we chased it and it was suddenly remembered it arrived 30 minutes later. The food took nearly 45 minutes which could only have meant they lost the order as there were only 8 people in the restaurant. The food quality was good but the experience was bad all round and meant it was hard to enjoy. Other people who had received bad service have recommended the Swiss Chalet so we will try that next time instead. This is a shame because we always felt that the experience at the ABC was a self-contained one and basically we did not have to leave the hotel for anything despite the prices.

Finally- I will mention what appears to be an ill thought out loyalty scheme. The scheme itself gives little advantages - the main ones being the ability to book without using guarantees, secondly, you get a 10% discount which is nice. There are three levels- Basic- Silver, and Gold. My and my colleagues' levels are standard. This astonishes us because we have been loyal since the place opened and have stayed at least once a year and sometimes three times a year! I raised this to a couple of the reception staff but of course, I was met with blank looks. This made us feel deeply undervalued and has begun to make us consider other options around Angeles. Happily, the expansion locally will mean that better hotels will appear over the next few years leaving the ABC as an also-ran on Fileds Avenue.

Check-in, doormen, and drivers were all faultless.

We will give the place another go in the Autumn.

ABC Hotel is a top choice if you want to stay in Angeles City/Balibago area. Spacious room, nice bathroom, good gym, welcome drinks, and accessible to everything in Angeles City. Friendly staff. I would return here when in Angeles City.

Not the best

While this might be one of the better hotels in Angeles, it is nowhere as refined and up to the standards as the hotels in Manila. Given the relative price tag, I wasn't overly impressed with my stay.

The Good
- Rooms are nice enough although very gaudy.
- Staff are generally helpful and friendly.
- WiFi is relatively fast and very reliable.
- The free shuttle is very convenient.
- Minibars are very well stocked and reasonably priced. Dining is good and reasonable too.

The Bad
- I booked a New Millennium suite directly for the sound system but no non-smoking ones were available at check-in so I had to accept an unwanted Jacuzzi suite instead.
- Water from the sink smells very questionable.
- Hotel is located a bit too far from where everything is.
- Website prices are quoted in USD although the hotel charges this in Pesos at a 2% markup to the market rate. This just seems greedy.
- My air conditioner was leaking water and I had to call to have it repaired.
- My 3rd room floor was accessible by staircase only.
