How to Get There
We are a family of four and stayed here for two nights. It’s at the bottom of Aguas Calientes, close to the river which sounds so peaceful at night and the best of natural noise makers. Beds are super comfortable. Service was lovely. This is by far the nicest place to stay in Aguas Calientes.
The hotel has nice rooms but nothing great, the service in the restaurant was a bit slow (we had to serve our own wine while the staff was chatting away) but most disturbing was when we left, and asked for our luggage to be brought to the railway station. The lady at reception told us that it was already there, but when we got to the station it wasn't and with only 40 minutes left, it was pretty tight to resolve this issue as it is very difficult to change the train ticket, really poor service!
This is a very attractive hotel. It feels rich as you walk in and the service is excellent. It has very elegant decor and the rooms are nice; however it is situated beside the tracks (BTW: there were at least 5 trains between 9pm and 6 am). So if you stay here make sure you ask for a room facing the river.
The rooms are have a fresh feel, the beds in our room were semi firm, the bathroom was lined in marble type tiles. Unfortunately the water pressure was not consistent so the rain shower did not work properly and the water temperature varied from freezing cold to boiling hot, with out adjustments, during the shower. So be ready to jump out of the way if you feel the slightest change in temperature.
The food in the restaurant was elegantly presented and was well proportioned. The variety was excellent and the flavours were good, not excellent but good.
This is the time of year when the river, right outside your window, is in full force and the scene is fantastic. The hotel was unexpectedly deluxe and the food and staff really great. We took a pisco sour and a cerviche lesson given by the hotel staff, which you should not miss. The location is ideal to visit everything.
What a find! The service and attention was the best that I have had. The restaurant has a fine chef and everything served looks and tastes like it was prepared by a gourmet chef. The room was a suite which was clean and well supplied with anything that we would need. Priscilla waited on us for dinner; she was efficient, pleasant and helpful with any questions that we had.
