Situated directly on the beach at Great Bay, Holland House Beach Hotel has 54 guestrooms that have a simple, beachy aesthetic: pops of lemongrass and mauve, hardwood floors, flat-screen TVs and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that open up to spacious furnished private balconies. Walk straight out onto the sand to the hotel’s private beach loungers, where attendants are always on hand to bring you a refreshing cocktail or a bite to eat. The Ocean Lounge Bar & Restaurant mixes Caribbean and European cuisines into mouthwatering surf-and-turf. Signature dishes include roast rack of lamb and mahi-mahi and caviar. For extra R&R, the hotel can arrange in-room massages and aromatherapy treatments. But if you’re looking to flex that plastic, step out the hotel’s front door and you’ll find yourself on Philipsburg’s main shopping street.
In the Area
Pop your head below the ocean’s surface with Sea Trek, a helmet diving tour that takes you to see colorful fish and sunken shipwrecks without the need for diving certification. Another unique way to explore the island’s coral reefs is on a tour with Coconut Reef Glass Bottom Canoes; the company also runs a surf school and snorkeling tours. With 25 miles of trails, and itineraries ranging from mountain treks to shoreline strolls, St. Maarten is a hiker’s paradise. Start at Loterie Farm for guided and self-guided hikes.
How to Get There
Was recommended this by friends and was not disappointed, excellent location on beach with use of hotel facilities about 20 minutes walk from cruise terminal.
There are slightly cheaper alternatives for sun bed hire but at Holland house could change and shower, comfortable loungers and some drinks included in the price.
We got to Holland House on the day that they opened the 4th floor for the first time after the hurricane. It was great! The newly redecorated rooms on that floor are beautiful, and the staff at the front desk was very friendly and happy to help when we had a problem with the bill.
There are plentiful beach chairs, and the buffet breakfast is plentiful and very good.
Stopped in St Maarten on a cruise ship & really enjoyed sitting in this upmarket hotel beach bar. Nice service & great rum cocktails for $8.50 each. Great views too. Well located on Front St beside other bars, eating places & duty free shops.
We checked in to Holland house yesterday and our A/C was not working. We were going to get a new room when the Manager override the desk clerk and made us stay in the assign room because they were going to fix it. Got it fixed for 8 hours and now it is out again. Now they are going to move us just as we were getting ready for dinner. Offered to comp our dinner for the evening which we accepted. Front desk just called back and we are not getting dinner comped because it is Valentine's day. They said they would comp tomorrows dinner but we are going somewhere else. Not good. Today we spent 4 hours on the beach in front of the hotel. We did not have one server come to us in the 4 hours on the beach. When I went and tracked a server down and placed my order she left and never returned. NOT good. The bar staff is great however.
Visited 3x coming off the cruise ship. Great staff at the bar so we always stop there to have a few drinks. Spoke to someone who had stayed and they said rooms are on the smaller side and basic however they enjoyed their stay.
