Beachfront boutique on St. Maarten, with a lounge bar and restaurant, beach attendants and a private balcony in every room

The Lowdown

Situated directly on the beach at Great Bay, Holland House Beach Hotel has 54 guestrooms that have a simple, beachy aesthetic: pops of lemongrass and mauve, hardwood floors, flat-screen TVs and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that open up to spacious furnished private balconies. Walk straight out onto the sand to the hotel’s private beach loungers, where attendants are always on hand to bring you a refreshing cocktail or a bite to eat. The Ocean Lounge Bar & Restaurant mixes Caribbean and European cuisines into mouthwatering surf-and-turf. Signature dishes include roast rack of lamb and mahi-mahi and caviar. For extra R&R, the hotel can arrange in-room massages and aromatherapy treatments. But if you’re looking to flex that plastic, step out the hotel’s front door and you’ll find yourself on Philipsburg’s main shopping street.

In the Area

Pop your head below the ocean’s surface with Sea Trek, a helmet diving tour that takes you to see colorful fish and sunken shipwrecks without the need for diving certification. Another unique way to explore the island’s coral reefs is on a tour with Coconut Reef Glass Bottom Canoes; the company also runs a surf school and snorkeling tours. With 25 miles of trails, and itineraries ranging from mountain treks to shoreline strolls, St. Maarten is a hiker’s paradise. Start at Loterie Farm for guided and self-guided hikes.

The owner and manager of the estate are extremely welcoming and friendly. They are down to earth and lovely people who are passionate about people and customer service. The accommodation is really is and probably on par with 5 star standards. The bed is really comfortable and the shower is amazing. They also have DSTV which is great. Incredible value for money!

Great place!

The obviois choice if you are heading to Philipsburg! Extremely friendly staff and an amazing atmosphere in the lounge overlooking the beach. Good for both business trips or a relaxing weekend on the beach.

Ate lunch here before relaxing on the beach. Rented an umbrella and 2 chairs from here as well...best deal on the beach! Lunch was very good but pricey. Staff was great, nice atmosphere and gorgeous view!

Holland House lunch - very refined.

We came here for lunch during Carnival. Lovely staff, great food. I had the salmon tartare and veggie flatbread and my husband had a great red snapper dish. My salmon tartare needed more pita, but that's easily fixed. Great group of people here, very beach chic vibe.

Good if bath bub is furnished

I stayed at this hotel for one night. This hotel is located at center of Philipsburg at Dutch side. At front side, it faces to busy street and at backyard, it faces to beautiful beach. It is regrettable that there is no bath tub. Town is small, and I walked town in every nook and corner. And I took micro bus (2 $) to Marigot at French side. Breakfast is included and I enjoyed it with seeing sea. After C/O, I asked to arrange a taxi to visit Holland and French Boundary Monument and Maho Bay Beach on my way to the airport. This beach is very close to the airport and the sigh of "Danger" by Jet Blast is standing.
