How to Get There
We just spent one night here while waiting for our rental home to be ready and am I glad we chose this place
After arriving at 4pm after sitting on a runway overnight in the states for nearly 3 hours waiting for deicing, we were greeted with a fresh rum punch and a smile. We were promptly checked in and then driven to our room which was down on the beach. It was a great room! Large with patio looking right out into the bay.
The next day we had lunch down at the restaurant/bar where our server, Miss Pat made great recommendations as to drinks and food. The lobster sliders were awesome as was the fresh fish wifey ordered.
While we were only there one night, we will be back the next time we stay in St. Croix
Beach is pristine with lounge chairs and tables, and food service is great. Restaurants are also available if you want to sit down and get out of the sun for a bit! Food is a little pricey, but well worth it! There is also basketball, volleyball and walking trails on site. You can stop by for a day trip and just state to the guard at the gate that you would like to use their beach. Everyone is very nice there!
I spent two weeks at the Buccaneer in march. Though it was a work trip to the US Virgin Islands, I took advantage of my spare time to explore the beauty of the island.Awesome landscape... beautiful surroundings...
I was here with a group of almost 50 people. Their special events staff was awesome. All three beaches were amazing and the water is just incredible. Mermaid is the better swimming beach. Grotto was better for snorkeling. Snorkeling was kind of derailed by a couple of storms but we booked a trip to Buck Island and got picked up and dropped off right from the dock in front of our honeymoon suite. Make sure you do this. I have been all over the Caribbesn and this is some of the best snorkeling I have done!! The breakfast was awesome and free which makes it even better! Phyllis and Mr Maynard made our morning every single day. They did a fantastic job with our golf tournament.
We had our a/c go out while we were there. They asked me about it before we even had a chance to mention it to them. It was fixed same day.
If I had to come up with a negative, I would say the walk up to breakfast or dinner is tough. However, they have shuttles running.
The fire show on Mondays at the Mermaid was good as well.
If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to message. Amazing stay!
I will say that this resort is great for almost anyone. The only exception would be people with disabilities as far as walking. I loved walking around. It is definitely built in exercise.
The Buccaneer is a lovely resort on St. Croix with fantastic views of Christianstad. Our room was down the hill between the 2 main beaches. The rooms could use a little sprucing up and minor maintenance. But when we had an issue, they came quickly to fix it.
Being down the hill made it very convenient for the beach and water sports and lunches. However breakfast and many dinners were only served up the hill at the main building. This led to a 5 minute walk uphill for these meals, which we considered part of our workout, but others may find difficult. They will send a golf cart for you, but I have no idea who long that would take.
The food was delicious and the service friendly. Being greeted by Melrose each morning at breakfast brought a smile to our faces.
The only drawback is that the food and drinks are quite expensive.
