How to Get There
The Halo Hotel is a really nice property in a prime location with well appointed rooms and all the facilities to make your stay comfortable. Great to see plenty of plug sockets in easy to reach locations and lovely slippers.
I’m not a fan of Nespresso machines, so brought my own travel kettle. There is a complimentary bottle of water on your first day, after that there is plenty of options to buy water locally.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The roof terrace is a nice place to relax after a day exploring the city of Madrid. The rain shower was lovely and powerful, the turn down service leaves a nice chocolate and the lifts are super efficient.
The owner has created a museum in the basement displaying unique artwork from Papa New Guinea, which can also been seen all around the hotel.
The only slight problem I had was the room temperature that was set at 24.5 degrees and even with the help of staff could not be lowered. I opened the window during the day, but at night the city noise was too much so I had to close it making sleep uncomfortable. I appreciate it was winter, but every guest has there own preference for room temperature.
I had read a review where a guest complained there were no English channels on the TV, there is an option on the remote to change the language to English on a couple of channels.
I would recommend the Halo hotel as a great alternative to the larger chains, there are plenty of food options nearby.
I stayed at the Urban for a week. The location is ideal, near most of the tourist "must see" spots, the rooms are comfortable (a small detail , the slippers are the best I've ever received in any hotel), the hotel decor is interesting and unique. But what makes the difference is the friendliness and excellent service by the staff. From the doormen to the dinning room hostess, waiters and reception clerks, everybody is kind, professional and warm, and they make every effort to make the guest's stay as comfortable as possible. I recommend this hotel both for leisure and for business trips. And for sure I'll go back whenever i am in Madrid.
Great location near the musea and in the city center. The staf was very helpfull. We had an early check in, without any extra costs. We were lucky to have a dinner in the excellent restaurant. Lovely view from the roof terrase.
I stayed here whilst on business for a conference at the Ifema convention centre. The staff were all very friendly and couldn’t have done more for me and were exceptionally helpful in the morning when trying to get a taxi at rush hour. The room itself was very nice & had a good comfortable bed. The location was excellent for Madrid city centre but a bit of a drive for the convention centre. I would stay here again.
In our second week in Europe my wifes purse was stolen.we lost passports, credit cards, phones, and money. We were flying in from Portugal to Madrid, I called concierge at Hotel Urban and explained we needed a car to pick us up at airport. He refused because I would not send an email. I explained we had no phones or way to send email,I asked for manager and he also refused to help get vehicle to pick us up at airport.
I told him I wanted to cancel our suite and he said go ahead, we're keeping your money.
I called Intercontinental Hotel and they helped with everything. We had a wonderful extended stay. Intercontinental bent over backwards to help us.
Urban Hotel should be avoided if at all posdible.
