Back inside the Ático penthouse, you can sip a cocktail by a huge open fireplace or dine on haute cuisine. This roomy, circular space’s high ceilings, large arched windows and pillars lend it a decidedly regal air. In the evenings, you might be entertained by music from the hotel’s resident DJ.
Both couples or individuals can be pampered in the Wellness Suite, where you can book the sauna for a private session and keep your fitness up in the in-house Technogym. Whether you spend the day sightseeing or shopping, or return late from sampling the city’s legendary nightlife, retire to the elegant modern haven of your room for a restful night’s sleep. This hotel is in the Unico portfolio, whose hotels are chosen for their unique style – stay here, and see why.
Superior rooms are spacious, with high ceilings and a king-sized bed, as well as wonderful city views. The décor is elegant and contemporary, with a calming color palette of neutrals. The en-suite bathrooms benefits from a walk-in shower with massage jets.
Ático restaurant is the hotel’s exceptional dining option. From the tip-top breakfasts to the avant-garde cuisine in the evenings, dishes here offer unparalleled freshness and flavor.
Step out of the front entrance, and many of Madrid’s main attractions are on your doorstep. The hotel lies at the intersection of two of the city’s most iconic streets: Alcalá and Gran Vía. From here, you can explore the unmissable museums of the old city, like the famous Prado and Reina Sofia, plus the grand squares and parks: Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace and El Retiro. You can also rub shoulders with the city’s smart set in the nearby Salesas neighborhood, with its great shopping by day and lively bars and clubs by night.
How to Get There
The hotel overall is a great place to stay. We enjoyed our time in Hotel. The location is perfect just held between old and modern city. The building is historical and well decorated. The staff are friendly and helpful
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay it this hotel. The excellent service really stands out. The hotel is lovely and elegant. The rooms are a little small but they are so well organized you would not notice. The hotel feels like a boutique hotel and everyone there treats you like you are special - they remember your name and want to do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable.
I was so impressed with The Principal Madrid. First off - the service. The staff at this hotel couldn't be more genuinely helpful and accommodating. Top notch! The little add-ons the hotel has thrown in are very nice touches, as well - welcome drink upon arrival, evening treat with welcome letter delivered to your room, and built-in ceiling Bluetooth speakers in every room...to name a few. Then come the rooms...so sumptuous! I was pleasantly surprised by their overall size and found the beds to be extremely comfortable.Clean, modern, urban chic. I'd definitely stay here again. Worth noting for anyone who really cares about this type of thing (I certainly don't) - the hotel isn't one that has a grand lobby you walk into. Instead, there is a small check-in downstairs and the actual reception area is located on the 6th floor, an elevator ride up.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Principal Madrid and my dining experience at Atico Restaurant. It's a beautiful property, has amazing views of Gran Via, and the food is delicious! Everything is priced really well, also.
Tlking to people who spend months a year away from home it becomes important to find places to stay that feel a little bit like home, where on return visits we can feel warmly welcomed and there is a sense of familiarlarity.
You can’t do this by aesthetics and facilities alone - it is all about the people. While Principal is fantastically located, very and has all the hallmarks expected of a hotel of this kind, my biggest reason for returning time after time are the team at The Principal.
Comfortable, welcoming and non obtrusive - the staff give no sense that any request is too difficult. Congratulations to Jacobo Recarte and his team in achieving an excellent guest experience.
For people who like a familiar place to return to after a busy day you will not go wrong staying at the Principal.
