Sleep like a local in Madrid at the Splendom Suites Gran Via, a 26-suite property that combines apartment-style amenities with the standards of an upscale hotel. Each suite has a cozy living area, a bedroom and a kitchen and comes with Molton Brown, Chopard or Elemis toiletries and a pillow menu. The emphasis is on practicality over style (clinical all-white bedrooms, characterless gray-tile bathrooms and pine cabinets), but elegant touches include plush velvet sofas and silver leather chairs. The ground-floor lobby features a small and welcoming reception area with mirrored walls and white marble flooring.
Bed and Bath
The suites are spacious and well laid out, with a homey feel. All have a living area, bedroom and kitchen spread across 430 to 968 square feet. What the units lack in the style department they make up for with a slew of practical amenities, including an oven, a washing machine, a full-size fridge, a coffee machine and a microwave. The bathroom is pint-size and nondescript, with just enough space for a shiny bathtub/shower.
Luxe touches include nightly turn-down service, a choice of Molton Brown, Chopard or Elemis bath products, a proper pillow menu and concierge services. Breakfast is available anytime throughout the day (a small spread of cereals, yogurt, orange juice and muesli bars) in the common room, which also functions as a children’s playroom. There’s no restaurant, bar or spa on-site, but the beauty of staying at the Splendom Suites is that you can explore the city by day, cook up a storm in the evening, and head out late to party like a Madrileño.
In the Area
Step outside and you’re in the heart of the action. The property is on a quiet street just off the busy shopping avenue Fuencarral, a block from the city’s main artery, Gran Vía, which is lined with shops, bookstores and restaurants. Soak up local life at the nearby San Miguel market, and hop from one tapas bar to the next at Puerta del Sol. In the evening catch a flamenco show at Tablao Las Carboneras, party in the gay district of Chueca or head down to the rock-and-roll enclave Malasaña for some live music.
How to Get There
I stayed here in February with a friend in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was well located close to Gran Via and all the sites. The staff were friendly and attentive. They gave us some great tips on places to see and where to eat and drink, tailoring them to our likes and dislikes. The apartment was all we were hoping for - very clean and well appointed. I'd happily stay here again.
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise, especially when we ended up on the top floor corner room! Room included a full kitchen, large closet, and balcony that we could walk around on two sides the building for amazing city views! Very helpful front desk. Amazing bakery next door for delish coffee and pastries for the morning. Would definitely stay here again!
he beds were super comfortable and the front desk teams very helpful throughout our stay. The hotel will book airport transfer on guests behalf with rates that seem pretty reasonable. The room was very clean and suitable for our family of 5. Included a pull-out coach that was very comfy compared to the typical pull-out. The hotel is very close to the city center and a short walk to most tourist attractions. The second half bath worked out well for our family.
· Shower sprayed over the top of the wall due to a crack in the shower head. The street where the property is located feels a bit dodgy and there are loads of graffiti around the hotel, which actually seems to be the case throughout Spain.
The location is 3 min away from Sol Metro Station in an alleyway. The 3 of us stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 1 night. It is not luxurious but nicely located to Metro Station Sol and Gran Via which can take you to Metro and Train stations. For the price, it's a very good deal.
Front Desk person Raul speaks English fluently gave us directions to the airport by train which was great due to the taxi strike in Madrid and Barcelona. However, be mindful that not everyone at the front desk speaks English.
Great accommodation in the heart of Madrid I would highly recommend it
Clean and tidy and perfectly equipped
It has everything you would want and more
Rooms are extremely comfortable and well proportioned
