Overview

A chic hotel featuring Sandra Tarruella guest rooms, with breakfast, a welcome drink and late check-out

The Lowdown

Madrid is often Barcelona’s overlooked little sister, but dig a little deeper and you’ll soon discover her distinct and winning charms. The city’s variety of intriguing offerings includes a range of striking architectural sights, from medieval houses to baroque palaces. Add an ever-growing culinary scene (that’s competing with Europe’s best) and tons of art, and you get a seriously mesmerizing destination – and one that’s definitely worth a visit.
Dear Hotel occupies an excellent spot in the city center, with a seasonal Sky Pool, which allows you to admire the surrounding rooftops while relaxing in the water. The adjacent solarium is the place to be during sunset, too, over a drink and some delectable tapas. The excellent service here extends to an “anytime” breakfast, taken in the comfort of your room, which you may want to take advantage of – the guest rooms here were designed by Sandra Tarruella, so you can expect effortlessly chic design throughout.

Rooms

Rooms here are an aesthetic delight, with contemporary fixtures and fittings that nod to chic Scandinavian design. It’s no wonder the interiors here are so stylish – everything here was arranged by the experienced hands of Sandra Tarruella, renowned interior designer.

Location

Dear Hotel Madrid is located just a stone’s throw from Plaza de España metro station on Gran Vía and is surrounded by the area’s vibrant restaurants and bars. Many of the city’s most popular sights are within walking distance, such as the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor.

My partner and I stayed at the Dear Hotel for a few nights in Mid-October having read the positive reviews on Trip Advisor. We were delighted with our decision as we enjoyed a marvellous stay. The hotel is handily situated on the Gran Via with Place de Espana Metro station right outside. The hop-on, hop-off bus also stops very close to the hotel. Our twin room was spacious, clean and comfortable with all the amenities we could require. The beds, furniture and bathroom are very modern and make for a comfortable and relaxed experience. The dining suite is on the fourteenth floor and offers spectacular views over the city, and even more so if you go up a little to the rooftop bar wheree there is also a plunge pool. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and offers a wide selection of cereals, meats, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, croissants etc and there is a good choice of hot dishes cooked to order. The staff at the hotel could not do enough for us. I carelessly brought the wrong adapter plug with me; not a problem for the reception staff who promptly gave me a correct one. In particular I must mention Esther, Beetrix, Goder and Sandro (apologies for any misspelling) who were extremely helpful and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble, we were even offered umbrellas when it was raining. This hotel deserves the highest praise for what it offers guests and how the staff look after them. Thank you to all at the hotel, you made our stay a pure pleasure.
