How to Get There
Happy hour with friends is terrific. Food is good, atmosphere is the best. Big round bar...friendly staff. You can pay a set price $$ and 6 or more friends can eat and drink using the cozy covered couch area.
The bar and dining room downstairs was renovated and is gorgeous, a little pricey though..
Was in Punta Gorda for a HS reunion and stayed three nights at the Wyvern...loved it! Walk to downtown or the riverfront, rooftop pool, great harbor view from our top floor room. The restaurant was excellent as was the service. Squeaky clean! A step up from the competition in price and worth every penny. We will stay again!
My husband and I were looking for a relaxing one night getaway. We found this hotel to be very nice except for a few important things. First, the front desk clerk offered no information about the city, or even the amenities the Wyvern offers. Come to find out, the in-house restaurant was having an Easter brunch the next morning that required reservations. We were turned away Sunday morning at 10:45 not knowing reservations were required for the only breakfast available on hotel property. The second major problem is clearly not the fault of the hotel, but its’ location. The hotel is situated on very busy road that is the nearby the base of the bridge out of town. All day and all night we heard Harley-Davidsons and other noisy trucks and bikes roaring by. For someone like me, used to quiet overnights, I just could not sleep through the traffic noise. For someone from the city, probably no big deal. Next time we’ll find somewhere else to spend our $168 a night at.
Buyer beware. Hotel is next to a Mexican restaurant that blares loud thumping music in the wee hours. Not to mention, you can hear toilets flushing, neighbors coughing, etc. they do leave complimentary earplugs in every room though. Sheesh.
Hotel is $200 plus per night. They told us $50 up charge to move to a quieter area. Wow.
My wife and I had a very early morning flight out of Punta Gorda and are very happy that we chose the Wyvern Hotel as our place to stay the night before the flight. Access to the hotel from the main drag was easy. Parking was very ample. The hotel is also located only about 10 to 15 minutes from the airport. Upon arrival to the hotel, we were greeted in a very welcoming way by the desk clerk. She was very efficient and attentive. After checking us in, she gave us handy pointers about the hotel. The floors are elevator key access only. Our room was very nice and comfortable. Good views of the water from our room. After settling in we went to the Perch 360 rooftop bar and grill. The bartender was very welcoming. He mixed great drinks and did so quickly and efficiently....they were delicious. We did have dinner at a nearby restaurant and did find a great selection of restaurant types and options within easy walking distance of the hotel. We slept well and made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare. We highly recommend staying at this hotel.
