Hyatt Hotel great..Regency Club BIG disappointment

This is going to be long...but I need to say quite a few things for other guests,Firstly I want to say how beautiful the Hyatt Hotel Coconut Point was...the grounds were beautiful...It is not on the ocean...so there is no beach view...but we loved the Estero Bay views of the Bay and the mangroves...very cool...especially from our corner room...That was a great part of our trip. A couple of mishaps...The adult pool was great..very refreshing...however they are in the process of re-constructing that whole area..which we did not know when we booked this hotel...there is no mention of it on the website...I feel like there is pretty bad communication at this hotel...The boardwalk walkway to the marina where you take the included boat excursion to their private island was closed...we walked it first day, and that was pretty cool..however again...no communication from Hotel that it would be closed for rest of time we were there...we found out from a construction worker on site...we asked the front desk and the concierge about this and neither area knew anything about it...third day we were there they posted a sign about it..Both major restaurants there are very pricey...There is a cigar bar...there are many pretty seating areas in the shade...If you have kids there are many activities for them...lots of pools, lazy river for them...But again, if you were going to stay at Adult Pool...sans kids...or have no kids...check to see progress if pool is open etc...It wasn't really bad noise etc while they were working on it ...but because we had no idea when we booked it as our Adult vacation this was happening...I would check progress first as there was no posting about it on Hyatts website or told to us at check in...or any other time by the concierge...Highlight of our stay was Corkscrew outdoor pool bar and grill...the bartenders Siri, Chelsea and Chris were exceptional...Chelsea and Chris had great personal Sangria recipes...just be prepared all areas charge 15.00 for a glass of wine...the Sangria was 10.00...the food was good too...they were fun, social...and a high point of our stay...The room was pretty nice...high end touches...but the layout was nothing short of odd...the main balcony which had great views was in direct view of the bathroom toilet...we had quite a laugh at that and it was fine...but odd...on to the Regency Club...which cost us quite a bit more on our bill...I booked it thinking we could eat a small plate hot appetizer there couple of nights.FORGET IT !!...totally weird food offerings...there are not hors de ouvre or even appetizers...it was more like crudite offerings...in that everything was cold...I mean roasted vegetables that at some point were hot lol...but served cold...everything was served cold...quite weird...one hot item was offered usually a pastry puff protein thing..on a hot plate...the food in there was borderline at best...they are not set up for hot appetizer offerings...I am not sure why...they need to be...I spoke with numerous guest who said all the other Hyatt Regency club rooms they have been to had hot appetizers and food fare...it was very very disappointing...to the point of if we go back again, we would not pay for that floor...yes they did give you free beer and wine for 2 hours which people did partake in...but what else was there for them...we don't have kids...but I'm not sure what kids would have eaten there...every night same food fare...one hot plate pastry puff thing...and everything else was cubed cheese pieces..cold roasted vegetables...a salad..a plate of pieces of bread...a bowl of humus but no pita points or chips for it...odd...and a bowl of salsa...I'm not sure what you did with that..ok on to the breakfast time there...the standard pastries..cereal..juices...hard boiled eggs...a hot protein item on that same one hot plate..but no hot eggs, no bacon, no sausages, no waffle, no pancakes...was totally weird to us...especially since many guest told us that was not the case in the Hyatt Hotels they stayed at on this special floor in places like Chicago, Boston, NY etc...If we go back, and we could we would not pay the large increase in price for this club room..it was not worth it at all...Included in the resort fee...was a semi-private island with a boat trip there..about 15 or 20 minutes and quite cool...the captains in my opinion are quite gruff..especially to one very hyper annoying kid..but he was a KID..come on...they were quite hard on him...and I totally get it if it was a security thing...like don't fall overboard, which I believe it was...however and I will address this in a few...they were a bit lax on other security issues...So no walkway to the marina, it was closed with no notice at all about it until after it was done...so now you have to take the Hyatt trolley to the Marina..okay but its on a time schedule so you have to be sure to be at front of hotel to catch the trolley and then take the boat which is a half hour after the trolley arrives which leaves you in the hot sun and heat under an overhang to wait out actually getting on the boat...they make a big ordeal about making reservations for the boat to the island ...and you definitely have to make that reservation or you will be left at the marina by the boat captains...the island boat ride is great...love that ...the island itself is nice...its a diversion that breaks up the day but obviously nicer in the spring and fall...in July its like baking in an oven..yes you have a chair and umbrella...but in July there is zero breeze...we didn't last long...and we missed the boat back by minutes...our fault...but another hour there because of that...So we decided hey next day lets just do the boat ride as that was way cool...and just come back and not stay at the beach there...so yes we made reservations...and yes we took the trolley to the marina...and the two of us waited 25 minutes in the heat for the captain to tell us they were not taking just riders that day...that I would have to spend an hour on the beach and then they would take us back...wait...what??? you can't tell me I HAVE to spend an hour on the beach in order to take the boat ride back...we had reservations ...just didn't want to bake on the island for an hour..just wanted to take the boat ride there and back...so it takes them 25 minutes to tell us that...so basically we are abandoned at the marina...we head to where the trolley takes us back, and thats a half hour wait...so we decide to walk the long walk back via a hot asphalt road because the boardwalk walkway is closed...we saw no trolley while walking back...so not only did the captain decide we couldn't get on boat as a rider because they had to take back some Hyatt employees who were at a breakfast...vs. taking a paying Hyatt guest...he didn't even call for a trolley to take us back...oh and wait...his iPad wasn't working so he had no idea who had a reservation and who didn't...the whole clicker count was strange too...they count people on and off boat for safety reasons...but couple of times they were off on count and had to redo it several times...its so they don't leave someone on the island after the last boat...okay...hmmm....anyway after our long walk back to hotel, we cut thru a dirt road and went under a fence to get back to hotel as the road was unbareably hot...immediately asking for the Hyatt manager to explain to her the ridiculous situation that happened...Carrie was the manager and she was the most professional, smart and understanding person...she was quite shocked about the whole thing, especially the part of putting an employee over a paying guest to get on the paid for in your resort fee cost...she rectified the situation for us in a satisfactory way...and we appreciated her immediate response...Again...communication is not very good here...I feel like if there are issues at the Marina with guest not getting on the boat, the captain can make a phone call to the trolley to pick guest up vs. them sitting in the blazing heat for a half hour til the next trolley...quite a few mishaps...thank you for the Hyatt manager and the Corkscrew bartenders for making our trip wonderful...despite the very non deserved treatment from the boat captains, and the no hotel communication between the outside area and the inside staff about important things at the hotel...and the whole Regency Club debacle...Would we go back...maybe if they get the boat thing worked out...and fix the Regency club food situation...

My wife and family have stayed at this Hyatt several times, but this visit was the first in five years. It remains in very good condition, and is an excellent resort for a family. I have stayed in many other Hyatts ( and their competitors), and have found few four-five star hotels any better at combining luxury and comfort for the adults with fun for all ages, in an environment where the kids are clearly welcome. Highly recommend this resort for a family vacation.

Smells bad not very nice

This place smells like an air freshener to the point that it’s toxic! Hard time breathing once I leave my room.

Not very willing go to help. The shuttle quit running by 730 and nobody could give me a 1 mile ride. They offered to get me a car service. Thx. I can do that myself! No customer service at all. Won’t make it back here ever.

Fun water slide options for the kids. Nice variety of pools. The Lazy river raft ride is relaxing for all ages. Super breakfast buffet in open kitchen environment with caring kitchen staff . Fantastic dining at Tarpon Bay

Beautiful place to spend with your kids, water slides, lazy river and more. But I need to make a remarkable mention about Venus Bustamante and the rest of the staff, Lucero and Ashley...at the Hyatt Regency club lounge for being able to accommodate our diet restrictions and being super attentive and kind. My son really enjoyed his birthday.They deserve a special thanks.
We will be back
