Superb hotel but poor service.
Reviewed 6 days ago

Superb hotel but poor service. They do not have heating in the hotel. It’s cold outside
and room is too cold. First night they kept me waiting for so long and nobody came. Finally I slept. Got a cough in this cold. They offered me an extra blanket that’s all. I wasn’t on a camping trip that I was happy to just take and extra blanket and sleep in a cold room. Second day also nothing done about it inspite of calling again. Tub was dirty. Room service was done only after calling couple of times. Lights not working. Bulbs not changed. Very disappointing for the price charged.
Very poor service.

A wonderful and relaxing experience in a beautiful setting. The accommodations and facilities were in keeping with the colonial period of the area. It was wonderful seeing the zebras, giraffe and monkeys roaming the grounds. An outstanding resort.

Great location but ....

The grounds were impeccable.
The staff were very attentive.
The rooms were clean, the bathroom was the highlight of the accommodation. The mattress had started to sag on one side so it is obviously time to be replaced.
The food was plentiful, service was slow but even though food was plentiful it lacked the expected quality and taste.

THE place to stay in Livingstone
Reviewed 1 week ago

Staff were amazing, the property and room was excellent and the walk to the park was easy. It looks like a classic African hotel, but is quite new. I wouldn't stay anywhere else, because you just have to take a taxi to get to the park. The butlers were excellent, Christine and Beatrice. Although I had a poncho, I got soaked at the Falls and someone took my trousers and had them dried within an hour, no charge. Breakfast was really amazing many choices and excellent. Service from everybody I met was great and I would certainly stay there again. An easy walk to Zimbabwe side of the Falls and a different perspective. It was very quick to leave Zambia into no man's land but on the way back there was a long queue back into Zambia that took me an hour at the immigration. The immigration will stamp your passport as an exit you tell them that you are just going to the bridge and then when you come back they give you an entry stamp on a separate piece of paper to show when you leave Zambia. It's quite common for people only to get the Zam Visa when they arrive and then take a stroll on the bridge without paying for a Zim Visa.

We saw giraffe in the grounds, when we arrived but didn't see them later, so the buggy drivers took us to see them. The closest we've ever been to a giraffe. Monkeys near our balcony, zebra and Impala came by, what more could you want. An interesting starter of local worms for dinner! Crispy and perhaps not again. Bushtracks looks after the activities at the hotel and charged $42 for van from the airport to the hotel, quite an old van, but a very nice driver. I think I would do that again because there were not many taxis and I think the people at the airport might try to charge you more. I asked Bushtracks for a later departure to go back to the airport, but they reminded me it was a shared transfer so I cancelled. The hotel booked a taxi to take us back to the airport for $30. Nice taxi. We took the African Queen Sunset cruise and were very happy with it, especially the gentleman on the lower deck who spent time explaining the birds and all the other things we were seeing. Only one negative when resting in the hotel, that the constant buzz of helicopters is not so relaxing. That of course is offset by the proximity of the park. I tried to walk down to Boiling Pot in the park but as I got to the level of the water, a group coming back said there had been a rockfall. Indeed the path was covered in rocks so I gave up and walked up again. Very hard work for no reward. Better check with the rangers before you try walking down! I don't suppose we'll ever get to Livingstone again but I'm glad we did and glad we stayed at the Royal. For those of you who feel homesick for Bournemouth, and prefer something more authentic, stay at Fawlty Towers. Its on the right hand side as you drive from the airport to the hotel!

Beautiful Location and a Great Property

While we did not stay at this Anantara property we have stayed at their hotels in Bangkok, Chang Rai, Munie and Siemens Reap, so we couldn’t wait to see the property. Needless to say we were not disappointed! Beautiful grounds, excellent service, good wine and an excellent from above the falls. We highly recommend you make this a stop if you are in Livingston Zambia.
