How to Get There
We had a fantastic stay at Chena Huts. The location is something very special and comes with all the luxus you can expect in the middle of the wildlife.
The last day they offered a fantastic romantic tabke with a honeymoon cake prepared especially for us. We will come back this is something we promised us.
We had a wonderful time at Uga Chena Huts! Food was excellent (different menu every day, fresh and local ingredients, meat cooked perfectly), Service very attentive (special thanks to Jaya who‘s done everything for us to enjoy even more), Game drive with expierienced ranger. The accomodation is just amazing; spacious room, comfortable bed, nice terrace with pool and views into the nature, where you could watch wildhogs, peacocks, lizards, birds, squirrels etc right in front of your porch. The whole resort is beautifully built and fitted into the surrounding nature, making you feel part of the jungle. The beach is beautiful, not suited for bathing though and long lonely walks on the beach not possible, but that‘s the price of being in a wildlife reserve with real wild animals. To conclude: It was an amazing stay in a great resort with friendly staff that respect and appreciate the nature!
OMG!! This is a remarkable place. Every detail is covered. The room is immaculate, the food remarkable, the service sensational, the location unbelievable. This is a must stay place, for several days. Everything about Chena Huts is top quality. The spa treatment was world class. The safaris were amazing with leopards, elephants, sloth bears, a golden jackal and an abundance of birds.
I've stayed in 5* accommodation all over the world, but I actually cried (with delight!) when I walked into our Chena Huts accommodation just outside of Yala National Park. Our hut/room was vast, impeccable and jaw-droppingly stunning. We spent two nights there and wished we could have stayed longer. The morning and evening safaris into Yala National Park were beyond amazing. We saw wildlife that we had never seen before - Asian elephants, monkeys, wild boar, water buffalo, civet cats, a sloth bear, a multitude of deer, crocodiles, mongooses, and yes, 3 leopards - not clear sightings, but we did see their spots! The standard of customer service at the hotel was exceptional, as was the food, made evermore so when an elephant crossed the beach just as we were having dinner. A magical experience all round.
My wife and I had a truly amazing 4 night stay at Chena Huts. The surroundings are wonderful and kept very clean and tendered. We attended safari's twice a day and thanks to the skills of Harry and the driver, we were very lucky to see 3 leopards, a sloth bear, elephants, amazing and colourful tropical birds of all sizes, deer, samba, wild boar, mongoose, crocodile; the list goes on. Harry was fantastic in pointing out all of the fantastic elements of the park, such as the watering holes and incredible landscape. Do not go to Yala National Park just for the Leopards or Bears (you may not see one and took us 6 safari's to capture everything), everything about the park is incredible. As for the Hotel, food and staff, I can not praise everyone enough for their kindest, support and quality of service. If you were late back from the morning safari and missed the breakfast time, they still gave you breakfast; nothing was too much trouble and even a small lizard in our room, which was way to large for my wife's liking was dealt with immediately by a ranger. I must specifically thank the following staff in the restaurant; Jayalath, Dulaj, Anusudha, Lasantha and Nalin (sorry for any misspellings) - impeccable service. To clear up a couple of comments I have read, you can go on the beach during the day without a ranger, but not at night and I advise you don't. We had an elephant visit twice and on one occasion I think he wanted to stay in our hut and around the Hotel, but he looked amazing standing on the beach silhouetted by the moon. We had wild boar, monkeys and water buffalo visit the back of our hut as well; truly amazing, but remember they are wild animals. I can only end by saying that if you get a chance to go to Chena Huts, you must, and the only reason you will be disappointed is that you did not stay longer!!
