Paradise

We spent 2 nights here during our stay in Sri Lanka and it was a wonderful experience. Everything was amazing. Our room was vast and elegantly furnished with a terrace and our own plunge pool, overlooking the bush and totally private. The hotel had an atmosphere of quiet elegance and luxury. Staff were knowledgeable, attentive, efficient and very friendly.
We went on 4 game drives which we enjoyed immensely. Our guide told us about the area and the animals and even taught us how to read signs from the animals when they knew there was a leopard nearby. We saw leopards, elephants, crocodiles, mongoose, wild boar, water buffalo, monitor lizards, deer and many birds. Our evening game drives ended with sun-downers on the glorious beach.
Service at the hotel was second to none. Our room was spotlessly clean, mini bar well stocked and laundry done overnight.
The chef and his sous chef made regular visits to the dining room to chat about the meals. They sourced most food locally and it was delicious.
The massage at the spa is a definite must. We had this after a morning game drive, before lunch and it was very relaxing.
As we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, one of our evening meals was presented on the beach surrounded by lanterns and with a celebration cake!
Yes, this hotel was the most expensive we have stayed in, but it was worth every penny and we'd love to return!

Oase in der Wildnis

Terrific location in the wilderness with tasteful furniture in the accomodation! We had great gamedrives with our ranger Chathura. He was extremely friendly, reliable and able to explain the wildlife in Yala Nationalpark in a very good English. Thank you very much for the wonderful time we spent together!

Out of this world experience!

We were apprehensive about booking the Chena Huts hotel due to the price but decided to splash out for our honeymoon. I’m delighted we did. From start to finish our stay at the hotel was unforgettable. The service can not be faulted and the meals were incredible, all cooked fresh and made on site. The rooms are of the highest quality and I don’t think I have stayed in such a clean hotel before. Added into this the safari experience was amazing with knowledgable, friendly guides who retain that excitement about the animals despite having been on many many safaris. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to those looking to combine the highest luxury with safari. Special thanks to Jayalath for surprising us with a cake to celebrate our marriage and sending us the photos! The rest of the team should also be very proud of their fantastic hotel.

Stunning!

We spent 2 nights here during our tour of Sri Lanka and we wishes we had spent 4 nights. The hotel is superb on every level. The rooms are stunning, very spacious and stylish with a great deck and pool. I sat and watched the monkeys swing travel through the trees and down past our villa and could see the water buffalo arrive at the bottom of our path!
The food was excellent with plenty of choice. It was lovely to end the afternoon game drive on by the beach for cocktails - magical.
The service could not be faulted. Everyone made our stay feel very special with Lasantha giving me an excellent Sinhalese/English phrase sheet. We enjoyed so much wonderful service during our whole trip but it was exceptional at Chena Huts. We would love to return and recommend it 100%.
