Great location, friendly staff, disappointing room
Reviewed 1 week ago

The location and staff are excellent. Like many hotels in the center of town, Hotel de La Parra has a issue with noise, both from the street as well as from within the hotel. The bathroom was disappointing: the plumbing is subpar, leading to sewage-like smells. The smell isn't overwhelming, but it's best to keep the bathroom door closed at all times. The shower had some mold (not much), and had a constant drip.

The pool area was quite lovely, but the water was slightly cloudy, which kept me away.

Despite these complaints, the hotel's location and wonderful staff make it a good value. The front desk was more than happy to arrange transportation for us to the airport, which came in handy as our departing flight was at 7:00am.

Lovely Hotel~Great Location & Value

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Boutique de La Parra for a week. We loved the location, a stones throw from the Zocalo and the markets. The rooms were very clean and the staff was over the top friendly. A nice surprise was that the food was also amazing! It was as good as the high end restaurants. Rogelio was our waiter. Very friendly and knew English as most of the staff did. We had a very early flight and the man on duty came quietly to our room at 5:15 to help us with our luggage. We will definitely stay here again. Can’t wait to return to Oaxaca !

Day of the Dead

Our fourth stay in this quiet, cozy and clean property. My wife and I were warmly welcomed by the hotel manager, owner and his mother - as has been every time we visit. Half of the staff were the same from our visit in January and the cook, as usual, went
grocery shopping for the farm to table dishes of our choice.

Lovely stay

I've just stayed five nights and very much enjoyed this hotel. As noted, it's centrally located and less than a block to the Zocalo, so you're a walk away from many attractions and restaurants. Due to the courtyard design, it's surprisingly free of street noise. Beautiful pool, garden, and shady area. The breakfasts have been excellent, although with only one waiter (who is relatively new), service was a bit slow. Staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. One of the receptionists arranged a therapist for an in-room massage and it was one of the best massages I've had. My room (105) has been slightly disappointing because it's dark, with windows opening to the hallway, so I've kept them closed due to privacy. But I'm not here to stay in my room anyway, plus the ceilings are very high, so it's not like a cave. The daily housekeeping has been completed around my schedule, so no complaints there. The king bed has been incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was adequately appointed. I would return here, but reserve a different room if possible.
