How to Get There
My wife and I spent a week on the island in June 2019. The June weather was perfect! There was no bug problems on the island. You eat your meals outside and we never had an issue with bugs. Very enjoyable. We stayed at both a sunrise and sunset bungalow. Very private, very well maintained, stocked with yummy homemade cookies, water, beverages, etc. Food is very good. The chef does a great job! Breakfast was my favorite. They do miss on not having snacks available, such as nacho's and chips, etc. You pay for beverages.. Tea is free! We took the tour of the neighboring island. Well worth the visit. The snorkeling is outstanding! Very very good! This is not a loud, partying place. Nice, quiet, easy going.. room service is also very good. Air conditioning worked well. Spa was very nice.
The big negative was getting there. We booked the plane service. Here's the scoop.. The plane doesn't fly you to Royal Davui (like sea planes we've taken in the past), but instead takes you from one side of the main island to the other, saving you a 3 hour drive around the island. BUT, in most cases than not, they cancel the flight at the last minute due to weather. Then you are stuck driving hours! Then the boat trip to the island was rough... rainy, not good. Boat could be better. All and all, it was a very nice experience. Highly recommend a few nights!
Our room over looked the beautiful waves that danced on the beach. Our deck had a private pool that was amazing. The food was only surpassed by the freindly staff. The banna bread is a must. Thanks to Venture Fiji - Keiley and Keith for the great recommendation and guidence in making this trip exceptonal
Royal Davui was without a doubt one of our most memorable stays ever. Right from our transfer to Royal till we left the island.. We stayed in the Sunset Pool Suite and it was absolutely stunning.. Saw some beautiful sunsets and sharks from the room itself and views of the endless ocean.. The heated plunge pool works out amazingly when you come back from a snorkel / dive.. Love the fact that you can have your meals in the room or at the restaurant.. Food variety was absolutely amazing.. Each day they offered multiple choices and they have a whole separate vegetarian menu as well which had so many options for me and all were absolutely delicious! My husband couldnt stop raving about the non-vegetarian food either.. They also were always willing to make any non-vegetarian dish on the menu, vegetarian for me if it were feasible.. The spa is fantastic and Lena was great! Bought a lot of Pure Fiji products from the spa (absolutely great for your skin!).. We went shark diving twice and cannot recommend this enough! The sharks swim so close to you like 20 - 40 of them and its one of the best experiences we have had.. Both our dive instructors - Ape and Sunia were absolutely amazing and made us feel extremely safe throughout.. Really enjoyed the entire vibe of the resort - the welcome song, the farewell, their nightly activities which are always a lot of fun (especially the Kawa drinking ceremony - have to hear all of them sing, its mind blowing). At the same time, this place can be so secluded and private if you want it to be and stay away from all the activities. The snorkelling just off the beach is breathtaking and one of the best we've ever seen.. So much coral (no bleaching) and full of life.. Everyone - the staff , the guests always seem happy and smiling.. John and Cathy are definitely doing an amazing job managing the place and it reflects on how happy everyone seems at the resort.. Special mention to Mac who makes the best cocktails and the service staff - La, Kimi, T, Sevu who are all so amazing and sweet.. Sorry if i have missed anyone.. Thank you once again for an absolutely magical stay and one that we will not forget for years to come.. Hope to be back soon..
