How to Get There
I am currently enjoying a seven night stay at this wonderful hotel .This is my fourth stay here within four years. My last review stated the lack of a bidet toilet. I was surprised to see they added a bidet cover to their current Toto one. I am also very happy to see the KAL #6702 limo bus now stops in front of the hotel . My last stay there, I had to walk to the Dongdaemun Design Plaza to catch the bus back to ICN. This may be small things to some, but it certainly shows me the GM Mr. Cooper cares and follows thru whenever possible with comments posted here. I believe he was at Tavolo 24 one morning and took away my finished breakfast plate. I always think about trying the Four Seasons , but the price and location always bring me back here.
I only wish they would bring back the homemade Yakgwa at breakfast. Then it would be perfect.
Its more of a Japanese style hotel than a Korean style hotel in Seoul. Love the restaurants.. Roof top bar is quite nice.. Love to come and stay again if there was an opportunity. Exactly opposite to Dongdaemun square.
I really enjoyed my stay. The room was large and well-designed. The bed was too hard for my tastes, but otherwise things were very comfortable. I was glad that I upgraded to have access to the executive lounge and free breakfast. I'm not normally a breakfast person, but that turned into my main meal. The breakfast in the executive lounge was impressive but the one in the main dining room was especially so - I loved the wide array of Korean food so I could sample everything. Service was ok; I thought umbrellas should have been provided in the rooms. The main drawback, for me, was location. Even though it's right at a subway stop, which is great, it's not very close to the main tourist draws.
JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul was an awesome hotel with beautiful rooms, stunning pool and luxurious amenities.
General Manager Matthew Cooper was so gracious when he greeted us, enthusiastic about our stay. Andrew Bae and his staff was extremely nice and very helpful and cared about our comfort. Kevin at concierge was delightful and very friendly. They all made us feel like we were home.
The location was great - close to subways, buses and of course taxis. Less than 5 minutes walk to major shopping centers and cultural activities.
I would recommend this place to everyone who travels to Seoul. Thank you JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square for my wonderful and fun stay!!!
We arrived extremely early and were going to be charged the price of 2 room night had we chosen to have 1 room at 9am instead of 1pm. I have my Marriott miles number to see if there was anything to be done and i informed the lady in charge of the mairriott reward that i couldn't access my account. She insisted it was activated but i needed to activate it online. The phone and safe from the room didn't work. No refill of water. The gym is amazing but the pool service is awfully bad. No hair dryer, no swim suit dryer. No towel change. We asked for a late Chech out on 1 room as we had 3. The person who checked us in on day 1 was unfriendly and said he could maximum give us till 1pm though i unfurnished him out fight was at 7:30pm. Later in the evening last night i asked another staff and, with no question asked, he offered us a late check out for 1 room till 2pm. This afternoon, while leaving the hotel and though, it was raining, no staff helped us with the luggage though we had no umbrella. The concierge service had no clue regarding directing, shops and sent us to an extremely average restaurant though we requested them to help us book a 2 star michelin star one. I won't go back.
