How to Get There
The staff at this hotel live and breathe customer service and they put the customer at the centre. Our stay was incredibly relaxing as a result. In addition they were ready and willing to assist with us when something has been lost (and they found it). Very honest and accomplished team. The location of public transport (bus to the cable car and metro too) was very good and the hotel shuttle was excellent. We had great Korean food incl at the dedicated BBQ restaurant in a street nearby to the hotel (none of which looked flashy on the outside). Hope to return to this hotel and highly recommend it.
First timers in Seoul and Visa holders staying for an extended period. We wrote in requesting more information on the must-dos & must-sees as well as indicated our preferences. Most people take the arrival to the property as the arrival experience only but Miss Julie Hong, the AFOM, is different. She recognises that the pre-arrival experience is equally as important given her patience and coordination of the request through written correspondences. Her service professionalism did not end there, as great amounts of detail and care shone through in the preparation of the tips and the prior requests made, all in place prior to our arrival. For that, we were really touched and it definitely made an endlessly positive mark to the start of our long journey in Seoul. The well-prepared tips are still used as a reference point/checklist when deciding on the next thing to do in this wonderful city. As the stay coincided with my friend's birthday, Miss Hong once again beautifully coordinated a birthday surprise and the execution once again was done to a T, precisely to the request. The cake was really delicious and I can't wait to have more upon our return come late June this year.
The room: The room was sufficiently sized with our many luggages and was very well kept and taken care of by Housekeeping. Even though recently renovated, it does not support the IoT function that is only available in Executive Floor rooms. But again, no biggie. The furnishings whilst not screaming a modern, updated look, were still in good condition. We were well prepared for the lack of provision of Toothbrushes and Toothpaste in their effort to conserve the environment, but more can be done to their packaging to reduce further wastage whilst maintaining cleaniness of products. The shower amenities were standard Pullman fare (C.O Bigelow), nothing to scream about but one of those that doesn't make my hair tangled after use, so that great. Shower and Bath are not separated so those with limited mobility or with fall risk should take extra care.
In-room dining: One of the best in the world, with great flavours which at least matches the higher price they ask for given the quality, care and presentation. They were very quick on our last night, sending our orders 10 minutes after, along with the Birthday amenities which was a really huge surprise and highly commendable. The staff were also very polite and sincere in their actions.
Executive Lounge: Service Friendliness was expected with Miss Julia standing out by engaging guests during meal times. Otherwise, by and large the lounge was very much self-service; which reduces the exclusive feel aside from the restricted access. Shoe-cleaning services were also provisioned overnight and did a solid job! Meals in the lounge had great offerings for breakfast (more on The Kings comparison later) which had all that I liked on display including a live egg station for simple omelette requests. The display temperature however tended to the colder side especially later in the morning. Happy hour offerings were sufficiently good for me with good variety (breadth) of alcohol on display and mixable to your preference. Wine lovers however will have to settle with only 1 offering of each type (red & white) with no champagne option; of which was not an issue for me personally but good for those who are paricular to note. Never quite had the opportunity to enjoy Afternoon Tea because more often than not we were already out and about exploring the city. We enjoyed our time in the Executice Lounge, nonetheless.
The Kings: Breakfast was subject to extra charges despite having Executive Floor access so do note; it sets you back about 12000won/pax. The fare at the lounge can be seen here as well with extended cereal options and a couple more juice options, a small halal section, dim sum delights and a porridge section. We soon realised that the fare available at the lounge pretty much covers it and the other options were not as nice, making it less worth it. Also again maybe because we went a little later, the food temperatures were colder. So it was a tad bit disappointing, and if the honey provided was the highlight of the difference, it is a bit telling. Nonetheless, everything else that we had were the same as the lounge's. The wait staff were also eagerly turning over preparing for lunch and whilst they did inform the diners, some who came in not too long ago felt a bit pressured and had to rush and could not properly enjoy their meal (I mean I get that they went in knowing the shortage of time but they could have been made to feel more at ease seeing how there was quite abit of time left before lunch hours began).
Check-in & Check-out: Both processes were adequately smooth with a litttle to work on for loyalty recognition; with excusable reasons for the lapse during both times. Both staff members were a delight and very pleasant throughout. Check in was done by Seung-Ree. Check-out was a little rushed, given another customer that seemed to require the Front Desk's Assistance Urgently, sighing and clicking loudly to signal his dismay and request for the staff to hasten which led to the check-out experience being very brief, skimping on the formalities. No deposit taken during check-in.
Concierge: Arrival was not offered assistance with luggage to the rooms, perhaps an SOP due to late night or manpower diverted elsewhere at that moment. But no biggie, the carpeted floor did however make movement with multiple bags more difficult. They were a delight during check-out, quickly getting taxis and assisted with the loading of luggages onto them promptly.
Overall: Service at all touch points were really commendable and their professionalism is like no other. With fantastic members of staff as mentioned above, they are truly the key to the success of the place and in retaining loyal guests. They've completely won me over and I look forward to staying here again soon!
Very professional and helpful staff. Excellent quality for the breakfast.
Rooms are clean and spacious, and the choice of restaurants there is looking very attractive (not tested cause timing). Great job
