South Beach party animal with a sprawling club and bumping pool scene
Miami minimalism meets Moroccan maximalism at the Shore Club. Gauzy white curtains help guests play hide-and-seek amid the sexy glow of lanterns in the Art Deco lobby, while the lush gardens, inspired by Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech, invite lounging with their low-slung daybeds piled with patchwork textiles and hammered copper trays to hold those icy caipirinhas. Upstairs, 309 rooms are ultra-minimalist affairs with clean-lined modern furniture and a white-on-white palette punctuated by an orange-framed mirror here, a kelly green sconce there. The luxury is in the details: Egyptian cotton sheets, huge flat-screen TVs, down duvets, and sandstone bathrooms that include peekaboo glass showers and fragrant Malin + Goetz products. Most people come to South Beach for the nightlife, and Shore Club sits at the center of it all with the sprawling indoor-outdoor Skybar club, the tropical-themed Rumbar, and the sumptuous Redroom lounge, a mingling of silky French antiques, glimmering beaded walls, and lacquered teak floors. When hunger strikes, head to the casual Italian chophouse, Terrazza. Also on-site: a Zen-like ocean-view spa, two infinity pools, and a swath of white-sand beach.
In the Area
Follow Miami Beach’s oceanfront path all the way down to South Pointe Park, the picturesque end of South Beach. It’s the perfect place to take in the sunset, watch the departing cruise ships, or ogle the impossibly good-looking locals walking their dogs. Throw caloric caution to the wind with the fried chicken, biscuits and other haute down-home fare at Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, a local favorite filled with pretty people getting down and dirty with bourbon and barbecue. Pick up threads and sky-high heels fresh from the runway at designer boutique Alchemist, which has locations at the beach end of Lincoln Road and in the Herzog & de Meuron–designed 1111 Lincoln Road. SoBe’s Frank Gehry–designed New World Center makes high culture hip with a theater that transforms after hours into a nightclub-style venue mixing electronica and classical music.
