How to Get There
Villa's are nice big rooms with sun deck and welcome plunge pool, not real villa's. Spa was super. Verele is nice oriental restaurant. On the contrary you will find no "peace " at the buffet restaurant unless you do not mind people coming for dinner in shorts an flip flops combing their hair at the table. Casual dress code should be a minimum.
We had a three night stay here as a couple at the end of our tour of Sri Lanka. I actually wanted to cry when we had to leave it is so gorgeous.
Every single member of staff we met from the wonderful reception to the moment we left were without exception brillilant.
The hotel is perfectly situated on a quiet stretch of beach a few minutes outside Tangalle, we were unable to swim in the sea during our stay as it was quite rough and we are neither of us strong swimmers. Some people did swim however.
The main reception/buffect area is lovely, clean and neat.
The rooms are set in blocks along the beach and there are small villas further round the headland with small pools. We had a superior sea view room which was perfect, on the first floor, very spacious with views straight out to the beach and sea, the glass walled bathroom meant you could take a bath whilst watching the sea! There is everything you could possible need in the room with good quality toiletries and a proper coffee making machine.
The pool is wonderful too, clean and warm with plenty of sun beds. It was busy during our stay but we always managed to find a sun bed.
The breakfast buffet is exceptional with every kind of food you could wish for from porridge to a full Sri Lankan breakfast including a fresh hopper section and the best omlettes we've ever had.
We had 2 evening meals in the buffet restaurant, both very good with plenty of choice and lots of very fresh food on offer. The last night we ate at Il Mare the Italian restaurant on a cliff above the beach, again exceptional food and service.
A special mention to Nuaman who is the block 5 concierge, he greeted us at the beginning of our stay and couldnt have been more helpful.
There are comments on this site about the cost of food and drink at the resort, yes it is expensive but this is a 5* resort and you get what you pay for. The experience is worth every penny.
This is the best hotel, we have visited ever, Situated next to the ocean, very pretty architecture, large rooms with all facilities, two refrigerators, tea, coffe afd lots of complimentary water. Very good breakfast and dinner buffet, kind staff and pretty surroundings. We have enjoyed our week here around the pool and on the beach, absolutely nothing to complain of ( except the background music in the restaurant😏 ) May I suggest hand desinfectant in the reataurant.
Service, along with the stunning views make this resort a lovely place to stay. Personal concierge helped plan our stay to make the most of our time in Sri Lanka with a variety of local experiences to choose from.
What a wonderful resort. We cannot say how much we loved our stay here. Bedrooms are big and spotlessly clean with you beautiful views. The whole resort is a delight to walk around especially with the resident nature guide. There are three restaurants to choose from our favourite was the Italian the Ychef was always available to help with food choices and he made a wonderful Tiramisu at your table. The Asian restaurant came a close second.
We do have to say a Big Thank you to Dilan the resident manager, Sayuri Guest Relations and Nilanka deputy restaurant Lmanager for making our stay so memorable.
In fact everyone of the staff were really friendly and helpful.
We will definitely return to what we consider to be one of the best hotels we have experienced in our extensive travels.
