It’s almost always sunny at East Bay Resort, a brand-new luxury property set among an aquatic sanctuary in one of the world’s most sought-after islands, and the retreat is well aware of the generally cooperative weather conditions. As a guest here, you’ll be welcome to borrow a kayak or paddle board, as well as snorkel gear, or dive to the depths of the Caribbean Sea and see the famous underwater wall. Adrenaline junkie? Throw caution to the tradewinds, and try kite surfing. Deep-sea fishing and hovercraft tours are also on offer.
And when it comes time to take it easy, the award-winning beaches (a one-mile stretch of the protected Cockburn Harbor National Park), just steps away from your guestroom, are a more intimate side of paradise. The oceanfront pool is its own peaceful sanctuary, with a swim-up bar, light fare and loungers with a view. There’s also surf-’n’-turf BLU Restaurant, where you can order a seafood dish, enjoy the stunning vistas, breathe in the salty sea air and listen to the crashing waves – East Bay’s a resort for all senses, as well as all seasons.
Accommodations at East Bay Resort each showcase modern décor and plush bedding, with a cable TV and a spacious bathroom. In the suites, you’ll enjoy a contemporary living space, full kitchen and large balcony as well. Beachfront suites are 592 roomy square feet, whereas the One Bedroom suites up the ante with 688 square feet for you to stretch out in. For even more space and incredible ocean views, opt for the Two Bedroom Corner Beachfront suite.
BLU Restaurant offers delicious cuisine, from breakfast to dinner, and stunning ocean views. A diverse surf-and-turf menu features dishes like white-tiger prawns poached in mango frond, lobster fettucine and chocolate-amaretto mousse. For poolside bar snacks, Splash (a reference to an ancient mermaid allegedly spotted by pirates visiting the island) serves light fare, like a tasty grilled-vegetable sandwich and ciabatta caprese.
An eight-and-a-half-square-mile plot of land that’s home to just 900 people, South Caicos is one of the most beautiful islands within the Turks and Caicos. Known for its perfect beaches, abundant sea life, magnificent diving, fresh seafood, rich history and reputation as the nation’s fishing capital, this tropical retreat is a dream for anyone yearning for paradise. The destination has plenty to see and do along its crystal-clear waters and among its protected wildlife, including water sports like snorkeling and kayaking, as well as beach-bumming on the sandy shores.
How to Get There
I wanted a break from mass tourism and the Turks and Caicos was was my salvation.
We flew from Toronto to Providenciales then spent the afternoon at Da Conch Shack before taking a twin engine to South Caicos (over 20mins of turquoise seas) where we were taken to East Bay where we checked into our suites (yep, suites with kitchens and dining rooms).
star filled skies, great service and warm sea breezes. My happy place!
Going back to work will be tough but that’s next week’s problem.
I RARELY leave a review online, however I can not let it go unknown how wonderful the east bay resort in south Caicos is. My husband and I visited for our 10 year wedding anniversary and left our kids at home for the first time in 5 years. We were looking for a relaxing time and most of all QUIET from all the noise of our 3 and 5 year olds.
East bay resort surely delivered. It was quiet, beautiful, and amazing from start to finish. Burt and his staff certainly take the time to make sure their guests are taken care of.
Jeremiah picked us up from the airport without issue, even though our flight had been delayed over an hour!! He waited for us there to make sure we got back to the resort and were taken care of.
We will definitely return! (Rarely does my husband say he will return to the same place twice, as he wants to explore new places if we have the chance, and this is the first time he said he would definitely go back again).
Thank you again east bay resort for an amazing and much needed quiet and relaxing vacation.
This was my first time visiting the island, and from the moment I touched down to the airport, we were taken care of thoroughly and with care and love. The rooms were clean, spacious, and accommodating. Loved the washer, drier, and dish washer features. The balcony overlooked the beautiful beach, and sunsets were amazing.
We were able to spend time both by the pool in the awesome swim up bar, and then on the beach on the wonderful beach lounge chairs. The breakfast comes with your stay, and it was one of my favorite meals. Any time we ate dinner, we were blown away by the meals prepared. If you are looking for quiet and peace, you never have to leave the resort. But there are also activities and excursions too-my favorite being exploring the island with scooters. I have never met a kinder more helpful staff in a resort, and I cannot wait to return next summer!
