It’s almost always sunny at East Bay Resort, a brand-new luxury property set among an aquatic sanctuary in one of the world’s most sought-after islands, and the retreat is well aware of the generally cooperative weather conditions. As a guest here, you’ll be welcome to borrow a kayak or paddle board, as well as snorkel gear, or dive to the depths of the Caribbean Sea and see the famous underwater wall. Adrenaline junkie? Throw caution to the tradewinds, and try kite surfing. Deep-sea fishing and hovercraft tours are also on offer.
And when it comes time to take it easy, the award-winning beaches (a one-mile stretch of the protected Cockburn Harbor National Park), just steps away from your guestroom, are a more intimate side of paradise. The oceanfront pool is its own peaceful sanctuary, with a swim-up bar, light fare and loungers with a view. There’s also surf-’n’-turf BLU Restaurant, where you can order a seafood dish, enjoy the stunning vistas, breathe in the salty sea air and listen to the crashing waves – East Bay’s a resort for all senses, as well as all seasons.
Accommodations at East Bay Resort each showcase modern décor and plush bedding, with a cable TV and a spacious bathroom. In the suites, you’ll enjoy a contemporary living space, full kitchen and large balcony as well. Beachfront suites are 592 roomy square feet, whereas the One Bedroom suites up the ante with 688 square feet for you to stretch out in. For even more space and incredible ocean views, opt for the Two Bedroom Corner Beachfront suite.
BLU Restaurant offers delicious cuisine, from breakfast to dinner, and stunning ocean views. A diverse surf-and-turf menu features dishes like white-tiger prawns poached in mango frond, lobster fettucine and chocolate-amaretto mousse. For poolside bar snacks, Splash (a reference to an ancient mermaid allegedly spotted by pirates visiting the island) serves light fare, like a tasty grilled-vegetable sandwich and ciabatta caprese.
An eight-and-a-half-square-mile plot of land that’s home to just 900 people, South Caicos is one of the most beautiful islands within the Turks and Caicos. Known for its perfect beaches, abundant sea life, magnificent diving, fresh seafood, rich history and reputation as the nation’s fishing capital, this tropical retreat is a dream for anyone yearning for paradise. The destination has plenty to see and do along its crystal-clear waters and among its protected wildlife, including water sports like snorkeling and kayaking, as well as beach-bumming on the sandy shores.
How to Get There
I couldn't figure out when Bert (the manager) sleeps, but when he does, he must be dreaming of how to make my stay better. My wife and I have really high standards for cleanliness; so much so that we always re-clean a place as soon as we get there. But our housekeeper, Fani, had the entire place spotless and sanitary every single day. My breakfast server, Sabrina, had such a sweet spirit. And at the restaurant, we looked forward every afternoon/evening to Fioreliz's smile and charm. Of course, Kira and Challenger could find an answer to every request we handed them. Down at the beach, do yourself a favor and ask Keathan about life on the island-what a great attitude! Conversations with our Driver/guides Jeremiah & Willis made us want to leave the rat-race forever!
At breakfast, the fried potatoes had plenty of pepper, just like I like them. The coffee was strong, but not bitter, just like I like it. At dinner, the seafood pasta had plenty of garlic, just like I like it. I ate the best conch salad I've ever had; and if you are a Ceasar salad snob, you will not be disappointed.
There's a small area to snorkel in front of the resort. But if you walk 5 minutes down the shore there is a buoy marking a great reef out-cropping that is like a compact little nursery for what you'll see on the snorkeling tour. I also saw an eagle ray, sea turtle, and friendly barracudas! The snorkeling tour, of course, will yield much better visibility and variety. But it was fun to just walk straight from your beach chair and swim out.
We had every convenience of home, with beautiful natural stone tile. It's a small thing, but they have those washable-style duvet comforters so you know everything is washed fresh for you. With our view, we never turned on the TV.
I've enjoyed the manicured grounds of East Bay, but the island is not mountainous and covered in palm trees like other places. The island is very unique with its flamboyance of flamingos, wild donkeys, and inspiring limestone cliffs. Everything was damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Irma, so you'll see toppled homes, and men working, tediously putting things back together. Take a bicycle to a local grocery store to get a can of soda just to get a feel for the place. Of course on an island like this, the grocery stores are very limited and expensive. The unique feel I had of the landscape is "openness"--long, uncluttered views in every direction.
Overall, East Bay is not a place to come and be distracted by DJ's and tipsy guests. It's a place of great comfort in solitude-to get to know yourself, your spouse, or an open-hearted people.
My husband and I went to the east bay resort in south cacois it was amazing the food was good the beach was beautiful and breath taking the hotel manger was very helpfull and friendly it was our anniversary we did a candle light dinner they went above a beyond to make it very special for us love the resort we will be back soon
My wife and I went here for our honeymoon and couldn't have had a more beautiful and relaxing trip. We researched the resort and island extensively and knew that it was the place for us. Quiet, beautiful, comfortable, accommodating, fun, relaxing, delicious, are a few adjectives i'd use to describe the resort and the time we spent there. The staff was wonderful, from Lincoln's poolside beverages and conversations, to Steve's bartending abilities and upbeat attitude...everyone was wonderful. The front desk was easy to work with...they even booked us a flight to grand turks for the day on our behalf. Highly suggest the Snorkel tour with Willis! Bert does a wonderful job making sure you are comfortable and enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about this resort. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay, and basically have an island to yourself, stay at East Bay Resort!
We stay at the hotel for only one night and it was so good we want to try and do this trip more often. This is the perfect place to fell free from day by day worries. Great location, beautiful views, great beach and really nice and comfortable rooms. The staff is always there to assist and do that extra mile for you. Since the pick up at the airport, the short ride to the hotel you are welcome with a smile. Definitely going back soon.
Excellent choice for our vacation! Loved the peace, quiet and isolation of this resort,we practically had the whole resort and beach to ourselves! It’s like being in a private island.
Bert who is the manager, thank you for your warm welcome and going the extra mile, you surpasses our expectations as always with the aloe Vera for my sunburn to the bottles of water during our farewell ..... just to mention a few of your kindness is greatly appreciated!
Lincoln and Kieten our pool buddies, you guys are great! Thank you for the chats and laughter by the poolside and fetching our food and drinks.
Our evening dining at Blu restaurant had to be one of the most memorable experience. Blinds up,ocean breeze blowing in your faces, breathing in that sultry salty air, gazing out at the moon and the stars in the sky(the moonlight reflecting off the ocean is exceptional) with a glass of cocktail in hand.Picture perfect!
The food is top notched, compliments to the chef. Our all time favorite are seafood pasta,Jamaican curries and the corvina grilled fish. It was lobster season, breaded lobster was really delicious. The cocktails are amazingly prepared by Steve.
The boat tour with Willis was truly an adventure of a lifetime. It is the best way to get a good feel of the island and the visual effects of the water. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!
We are eternally grateful for the experience and the fond memories provided by the East Bay Resort. That’s it! The word I was looking for to sum it all up CHARMING! Everything about it and of course I meant the people who worked and lived there too. Keep it up, we will definitely be back.
