A lovely, comfortable room with the most fantastic breakfast!

We really enjoyed our stay

Lovely place, amazing food, fab staff

We stayed for a week here as my retirement treat. The aim was to relax, enjoy fine weather, food, accommodation and all these were fulfilled. I somehow think the weather was not managed by the hotel staff but everything else was. Every single one of them makes you feel good. Greatest care taken in every detail. The breakfast is as much and more than you could ask for and so delicious. A range of choices for dinner ( the roast cod with shellfish so yummy), daily specials and a very good wine list. Good range of gin too :). The room was lovely with a view to the the sea and such a comfortable bed. Tip: ask how to work the shower, it's great but confusing... We will definitely return

Wonderful weekend away
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Husband and I decided to do a weekend away with our 11 week old baby. The Gannet and its staff were fantastic. Made us all feel very welcomed from the start. Restaurant was surprisingly good and we ended up eating there every single night. Plenty of breakfast choice. Hotel and rooms spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend this hotel if you fancy a nice and relaxing stay away in Cornwall. We will certainly come back again.

Lovely hotel, fantastic staff

The title says it all. This is a lovely hotel, albeit not in the prime beachfront location of the main Carbis Bay Hotel. You do get full access to the spa and facilities on the beachfront though, about a 10 minute walk away - which is lovely and currently undergoing a rather massive upgrade - and the treatments are some of the best we’ve had anywhere. However, as mentioned in an earlier review, it IS quite a steep hill leading down to the spa (and back up again! phew), especially the back path; the longer, road route slightly less so. The less able bodied may find this a struggle, but when you book to stay in St Ives, you expect hills, so I doubt many visitors would have a problem with it.

The decor at The Gannet is new and comfortably modern, and our room was pleasant and spacious, with lovely Aromatherapy Associates toiletries. The restaurant, bar and sitting areas have a nice ambience, the cocktails are great, the restaurant food is great, breakfast is great and all the staff we met throughout our stay were very friendly and incredibly helpful. Not sure how else I can sing its praises; everything there is done well and the entire service is cohesive and organised.

One word of warning, bathrobes are not provided in the rooms, so unless you fancy flashing both the drivers in the car park and the people enjoying drinks on the raised outside terrace, should you be allocated a side room as we were, take your own! The reception staff were kind enough to arrange for us to borrow a couple of robes from the spa during our stay, but I don’t know how feasible this will be in high season.

All in all we would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Great hotel

The Gannet was beautifully decorated the rooms were beautiful beds really comfy, food amazing..... but the receptionist Dawn went out of her way to help us and make our stay really enjoyable, she was great
All of the staff were friendly and helpful and polite my only negative was that the plates were taken away too quickly( I still had food in my mouth) but that is my only negative
Beautiful part of the country and having access to the Carbis bay spa their sister hotel was really lovely too
