How to Get There
Overpriced, main pool is dirty, nicer pool is advertised on website but there is a significant charge for using this pool which isn’t made obvious enough on the website. The food isn’t great either and there is a charge for every room service. Wouldn’t stay here again the hotel needs a lot of updating it is more like a glorified motel, the rooms are dark, dated and loud, the shower just dribbled on you and was useless. There is a horrendous stench as you enter the lobby which is otherwise beautiful! The staff are all extremely friendly and that’s the only part that is 5*.
Such a shame as we were on our honeymoon and have always trusted Fairmonts to be special but this was such a let down. For 2 nights the cost was over $1000 and just not worth it at all.
We have stayed at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn on two previous occasions.
We were always pleased with our stay so we came back again. We should have left it at two visits. The only positive part of our experience was the excellent concierge service. Other than that the stay was miserable.
The pool area, which should have been quiet and restful, was taken over by loud, drunk people. There was excessive drinking in the pool. Drinks were being spilled in the pool and the staff did nothing to stop this behavior. We quickly retreated to our room, only to find that at 4:30 it still had not been cleaned. Our complaints about the room and the pool went unheeded.
I can not recommend this hotel to anyone based on my experience.
This is a nice place to stay but I find it hard to believe it’s worth the rate. Arrival and checking was fine; efficient, friendly and grounds were well maintained. We got our room with complimentary wine bottle, but hardly worth drinking. We went with my sister and husband and thought we got the upgraded room from theirs, but all it was was chocolates on arrival and night before departure, other that that it was the same room.
The bathroom door trim was completely pealed off at bottom and the AC was not working. We asked to get moved to a room were the AC worked which they did but it’s bathroom also had trim with peeled paint. We ate twice at the bar place where service was absolutely terrible. The first night we were comped desserts and a drinks and thought it might have been a fluke. The second time service was even worse and the waiter/bartender didn’t do anything for us....... don’t eat at the bar there. Unless you don’t mind seeing your waiter every 30 minutes. Pool area is well maintained and the wine tasing in evenings seemed to use winery owners who are rude. Maybe it’s me or maybe that’s just how people are in wine country California, but not really worth staying here for the prices they charge.
