How to Get There
This is an historic hotel with all the pluses and minuses of one that age/design - larger rooms, no elevators, few electric/USB outlets, windows that open, but creaky floor in some of the buildings. The staff is friendly and helpful and service is impeccable from the spa to the dining rooms and bar to the bellmen. The giant king four-poster bed was huge and waist-high which made it challenging to leap into. It was also too soft for our comfort. Looked great though. Grounds are also well kept and have nice paths among the buildings with fountains, benches, and hammocks placed around. Self and valet parking available. Very popular for events/conventions but hotel was quiet even fully-booked.
My husband and I stayed in May 2019 for a late honeymoon.
The property is situated in a great location, which is only a five minute drive to downtown Sonoma, or 20 minutes to downtown Napa. It is tucked in a lovely setting, where you feel there you are in your own oasis.
The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive from start to finish. You are provided sparkling wine upon arrival at the Front Desk, and prompt, personalized check-in. We were allocated a beautiful, spacious suite. Each room is provided a complimentary bottle of red wine to enjoy as a welcome to Wine Country.
The fireplaces in the room are a beautiful touch, as you are provided with a bundle of wood and matches to enjoy a nice fire in the evening.
The restaurants on property had lovely, locally inspired menus. We particularly enjoyed the Duck Confit hash for breakfast at Santé. Each evening there is also a local winery in the lobby providing complimentary tastings which sets the setting for a lovely night-in on the property.
Overall, every aspect of our stay was memorable and we cannot wait to return!
Attended a friend's bachelorette weekend at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. Fantastic time, and fantastic service. Spa services and facilities with hot tubs, cold tubs, steam rooms, sauna, etc. were excellent, as well as the outdoor pools. The complimentary wine tasting in the lobby was also a bonus. Dinner at the Santé (in the hotel) -- highly recommend. The food was delicious, service excellent. Utilized the yoga studio and fitness center, which were clean and well lit. Staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Special shout-out to staff member Ashley Swisher, who made us feel especially welcome and helped celebrate our bride-to-be with a surprise special bottle of champagne. She was exceptional, and made all of us feel right at home, was quick to show us around the property and introduce us to all the amenities.
We enjoyed the festive Christmas atmosphere in the lobby area and all around the property. We searched for the elf on the shelf and saw the kids sending their letters to Santa. The morning hike was a real treat. All of the staff helped make our holiday visit wonderful!
This resort has beautiful “bones” however is in pitiful conditions.
My room was shabby, had many dark stains on the carpet, some tiles cracked and has a smell (old dusty smell)
Hallway is in sad condition as well.
Water pressure was weak and sheets were cheap and overworn.
Room and bathroom were large and beds comfortable.
To be fair some public spaces looked more updated (newer carpets and etc)
Given the price point I will not come here again unless they completely renovate and refurbish
