How to Get There
Just did a 4 week night stay. Very nice hotel. Quaint and comfortable. Breakfast was OK but kind of limited -- you have to consider they are only serving a small crowd. Proximity to the the square is great -- a block and 1/2 walk.
Pro tip: it is difficult to ship wine home these days. The Inn offers a shipping service. We asked as we where leaving and chose to use it rather than lug it thru the airport.
Stayed here for three days as part of an anniversary Sonoma County trip. We had a cozy King Deluxe room which had a large outdoor balcony. However we didn't get to use it, as the area received some much needed rain for the duration of the stay. The room was small but comfortable, including a nice fireplace to warm up. We liked the afternoon happy hour that featured wine, cheese and snacks. A nice breakfast was included each day with different hot and cold items. It's an easy two block walk to the main square where there are lots of restaurants and tasting rooms to experience. The staff was very nice.
The staff were always friendly and attentive, and it felt like a family run hotel rather than being part of a chain. We arrived mid-morning and our room was understandably not yet ready after the previous guests had checked out. Nevertheless, we were given a warm welcome, coffee with cookies, all the paperwork was completed, and were given advice and leaflets on what to do and see in the town until our room was ready. The included breakfast was excellent, and featured some unusual hot dishes, eg devilled eggs and spinach frittatas, and although these were not to my personal taste, preferring instead a more traditional cooked breakfast (ie sausage, bacon and egg), they were tasty and well cooked. We also enjoyed the daily complimentary wine and cheese at 5:00pm which included an excellent variety of cheeses and other snacks as well as ample red and white wine, and gave the opportunity to chat to other guests in the comfort of the hotel lounge or outside on the terrace enjoying the afternoon sun. The hotel is also well located in walking distance from the town centre which has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and wine tasting rooms.
It was our first trip to Sonoma and we felt like we lucked out! The Inn was great, the staff excellent, and within walking distance of the town square. They offered an afternoon wine tasting and snacks which were EXCELLENT and the lady in charge of the tasting was a sweetheart. When we get back to Sonoma....the Inn will be our first choice for our stay.
We had a nice weekend with friends at the Inn at Sonoma.
The location is OK, walking distance to the main square. We got in late, and had alerted them per the instructions, but the note of that conversation was not recorded. Thankfully the desk person called before leaving and we were able to get into our room.
Our room was not in the main building. It felt cramped and was not thoughtfully appointed. For example, the desk was really a table, therefore you could not push in the chair because the table base blocked it which took up extra space right next to the bed. And in the bathroom the sink was oval, but layed out perpendicular to the long edge of the counter (vs. normal which would be parallel to the long edge). I am short and had trouble reaching the faucet at the opposite end of the oval. This also resulted in water all over the counter every time either of us used the sink.
Food was good not great. Service was fine, but not overly friendly.
At this price point ($330/night), we will try somewhere else next time we head to Sonoma.
