How to Get There
Calderwood Inn has a gracious manager named Jude. She made us feel welcome, gave us ideas for restaurants and area wineries to visit. She served us a delicious full breakfast each morning. They have a nice porch and several outdoor areas to sit, relax and drink wine. The Inn is an easy walk to the town square in Healdsburg. We loved their shops, restaurants, and people we met. A wonderful area to visit.
We highly recommend staying at the Calderwood Inn, if you are seeking a small inn/B&B experience The historic house is magnificent and tastefully furnished with lovely antiques and furniture. The grounds are very nice and quiet and there is a sculptured garden in the front which can be enjoyed from the porch/veranda. There are many places to relax with a book, glass of wine, etc. Our room (the Matrix) was very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom is on the small side and a bit cramped, but quite functional with a tiled shower. Everything is impeccably neat and clean and very well maintained.
The best part of our stay was the staff, especially Rebecca. We received a text in advance of our arrival, welcoming us and asking if there were any dietary restrictions. At checkin, she gave us a warm welcome and tour of the house. The first evening, we were treated to wine from one of the wineries in the group - Mazzocco - and a wonderful cheese plate of different kinds of cheeses, Marconi almonds and fresh Black Mission figs. It would be nice if wine and appetizers would be offered every evening of one's stay. It was a bit awkward during the Happy Hour when the other guests did not have the same offering. The breakfasts are truly gourmet and the best we have ever had at a B&B; fresh fruit with yogurt and granola were offered first. The first morning we had Louisiana style-andouille sausages and a fried egg on a bed of a variety of potatoes and vegetables with a bit of a kick in spicing; the second morning was blueberry pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs.
Both Rebecca and Jude, who were our hosts, helped all of us with recommendations for restaurants, made reservations and assisted in whatever way was needed. The Calderwood is part of the Wilson Artisan Wineries group and offers complimentary tastings at any of their wineries, which we took advantage of, of course!
We will certainly return to this wonderful B&B in the future.
This is a beautiful Inn in such a charming place. The staff provided us with above and beyond service, my wife and I were very impressed. While in town try to grab lunch at Barndiva as well, great food.
