How to Get There
We recently had lunch at the priory and were bowled over with the attention for detail, quality of food and service. We enjoyed a 3-course lunch followed by drinks on the terrace.
I have been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years and the staff delivered on all aspects of the service.
Our food was outstanding and the team tweaked the menu to match my wife's dietary requirements. The service team was attentive, but not overly intrusive. If I had to make a negative comment they had served non-gluten free bread to my wife, but quickly retrieved it before my wife had a chance to eat it.
I would happily recommend the venue for lunch, and I believe we are looking to go back and try the afternoon tea which looked fabulous
A place with a view - If you like to be in the city and at same time have a peaceful and quiet place, with an outstanding beautiful garden, a gorgeous terrace, an indoor and outdoor pool with warm water and privacy, perfect service, friendly stuff, cosy generous rooms (old chic, tasteful designed - like a journey through time), nice people, excellent food, historical ambience and still easy access to the city centre in walkable distance - then you are here in the right place!
I wish we could have stayed much longer to enjoy the indoor amenities in the habitable rooms and the neighbour villages and the theatre of bath....
We had nothing to complain. Just be aware of the low water level in the pools ;-)
Visited the Priory for afternoon tea to celebrate a friends birthday! There were eight of us and as it was a glorious day we requested to sit outside. It has to be said the setting and the gardens are beautiful. Sadly the service and food did not live up to our expectations: the maitra de was patronising, verging on rude! Customers on a neighbouring table moved a sun shade and we could not believe the way he spoke to them! The food was mediocre, with only three small finger sandwiches each! I would expect more for £46 per person!
But for us the main concern was the lack of interest when we reported a rat running around people’s feet on the terrace!
On departure he tried to re-charge us for a bottle of Prosecco that had been paid for on arrival and when I pointed this out the said maitre de practically accused me of lying!
I have written to The Priory prior to this review but had a very generic reply!
Definitely will not be returning! Far better places for afternoon tea in Bath!!
Sunday I had some friends visiting and they wanted to have a traditional british Afternoon Tea. I’d never have expected what would happen! Of course I recommend the Priory. But it was a huge disappointment. I booked the Tea at Saturday, for Sunday, for 5 people. When we arrived, what a surprise: the Concierge said that the system had only 2 reservations, and because of that, there were no more pastries left. So they could serve only 2 full Afternoon Teas, and for the rest, they proposed a kind of half tea, and presented the Afternoon Menu, for us have more options. I asked how they would charge, and he said not to worry, because he would arrange everything, and I trusted him. We ordered 1 plate of charcuterie, 1 cheese plate and a burrata. It is important to point out that they served only 3 portions of fingers sandwichs. We asked for more, and they brought just one portion extra. At the end, they charged 2 whole Afternoon Tea, 3 Afternoon Tea with a reduced price, the charcuterie, plat of cheese, a burrato, and ALSO, three fingers sandwichs portions. What a shame! It was really a demonstration of disorganization and disregard. Not planning to come back ever.
My partner and I have just returned from a two night break at the hotel and I can honestly say it was the best mini break I have ever had!
Everything from the stunning location to the fantastic staff meant the weekend did everything we needed it to.
....my partner said I looked 10 years younger from finally getting some peace, fresh air and relaxation. Thank you all at hotel for making a truly amazing weekend.
