Overview

The Review

There are beach vacations, and then there’s Bora Bora. Here at the Pearl Beach Resort & Spa, bungalows sit on stilts man feet above the crystalline water of a pristine lagoon. But when you can go for a swim from your very own private deck, you start to wonder: “Who needs a beach?”

{“type”:”img-inline”,”src”:”/static/images/product/properties/2277/prop-57733-1338990914-full.jpg”,”width”:”275″,”caption”:”This family-friendly resort is the stuff of tropical dreams.”}That’s not to say that the resort’s beach is anything but spectacular. Rows of palm trees dip lazily over calm waters from a powder-soft white sand beach. You can take up residence under one such palm, frilly umbrella drink in one hand, book in the other. Or perhaps take a nap amid the lush tropical flowers surrounding the curving freshwater pool.

If you manage to rouse yourself, play tennis or mini golf on-site, borrow snorkeling gear or a kayak from the activities desk to explore the lagoon on your own, or visit the dive center or marina to arrange sailing and scuba excursions. Land-based exploration comes from four-wheel-drive island safaris and guided hikes up Mount Pahia (followed by a massage above a lily pond surrounded by coconut and bamboo at the resort’s Manea Spa, of course).

But the real challenge here is picking from among the 80 bungalows. Do you want to perch above the lagoon in a bungalow on stilts with your own private deck leading into the water? Or maybe you’d prefer a beachfront view with your own Jacuzzi? Or the lush seclusion of a garden villa with its own private plunge pool? Tough choice, but pretty much the only trouble you’ll encounter in this paradise.

My second visit - yes it's that good !

I first visited this resort in 2016 and since Bora Bora is such a remote location and also quite expensive, that was going to be a 'one off' visit. However it was such a wonderful experience I just had to return, which I did from 1 to 7 Nov 2019.
The resort is just as wonderful and spectacular now as it was back then. Also I cannot praise the staff highly enough as they are also first class.

Maja the Best Babysitter in Bora Bora

Thank you so much for babysitting Kai during our stay in Bora Bora. It was great for us to have a few hours to be alone, with some relaxation and snorkeling. The moment I saw Maja at the door with her big bag of toys. I knew my son (30 months old) will be in a good hand. Maja managed to convince my son to play in the sand who is scared of sand. She was professional, caring and responsible. Highly recommended!

Words cannot describe the beauty of the place: perfect location (mountain view), clear and amazingly blue water all around you, friendly staff and beautifully maintained resort. We reserved a garden bungalow and luckily our was already updated: everything was stylish, brand new and decked out with flowers! We arrived from the main island (spent a few days at another location) via the free ferry departing from the Chancelade-base in Faanui. (FYI: Every taxi driver knows how to get to the Pearl Beach ferry-base.) Upon arrival, we were seated, greeted with nice refreshments, cold towels to freshen up and got amazingly beautiful flower leis. The receptionist gave us a schedule of events at the resort and, hidden in the package, were two little bags containing a black pearl in each bag. (How fitting for the Pearl Beach Resort!) Our bags were delivered to our bungalow (no dragging of luggage). We were ushered to our bungalow by the receptionist. I wish I could describe the smell of flowers in the room and how beautifully everything was arranged for us. Attention to the smallest details from how towels were arranged and presented with palm frond ties to flowers even in the bathroom! Just amazing! A cold bottle of champaign was waiting for us on ice with a personalized message from the hotel manager. The evening turn down service is very classy, too! Our maid was a sweet and hard working lady.
We chose the Pearl because of its location knowing that we might be offered one of the older bungalows (pre-restoration), but we got lucky: ours was already redone. I think the garden bungalow is a fantastic deal because you get a private outside garden with your swimming pool and seating area. (By-the-way, during the bungalow's renovation the outside shower was moved inside. A good choice indeed. While in the shower, you are surrounded by glass and it makes you feel like you are taking a shower outside, yet in total privacy, with no way for anyone seeing you! What an amazing design!) The resort will be closed from December for a few months while the over the water bungalows are getting renovated. (There is no way to hide that kind of construction from guests' view.) Prior to reserving the garden bungalow, we knew that we might encounter a bit of currently, on-going construction, but with the exception of seeing one crane from a distance, the resort has done an excellent job hiding all signs of building-related activities. While in the resort, we heard no hammering or any other disturbing noise. As a matter of fact, we have not even heard any of the neighbors in any of the neighboring bungalow. Due to a very clever lay-out/design of the resort, you enjoy a lot of privacy and the resort never felt crowded. We found the equipment in good repair (we used the resort's free kayaks). The water is very-very clear around the motu and we saw a lot of fish while we snorkeled in the "choral reefs nursery". We walked around the property a lot, we could not get enough of the amazing view of Mount Otemanu. Can't say enough good things about our experience, it was just magical! The buffet breakfast was great and offered more than what you can eat in one seating. The view from your buffet table will be a view to remember! Upon departure you will be offered a lei made of shells - how thoughtful! We did not encounter any mosquitoes - the tradewinds are constantly blowing with no chance for the creatures to land on you. Plug-in mosquito repellent is provided in the bungalow. - Do not think twice about booking this place. Worth every penny! I can only imagine what it will be like after all the renovations are done.
