The hotel is very remote, as are the rooms. Monsoon garden is around 4 mins drive to Bali tower, you can sit and enjoy the view, however seating on upper floors is not very comfortable. Also no staff came up to see if we wanted another drink, had to walk down to the bar. If you wish to go to the beach area, you have to call for transport as that is around 10-15 min drive away. The hotel say that there is wildlife in the forest and has pictures We did see a small amount of monkeys, but saw more on the journey through the mountains to get to hotel. The beach is tiny by the jetty which is actually a pontoon and had a few bits of rubbish floating and washed up, there were no rubbish bins and did not see anyone clean it. There is another small beach near the mangrove area and restaurant. There were also leaves on the floor in the tower, this is inevitable due to location, however could have been swept up, the hotel was not busy and staff weren’t either. Have plenty of bug spray as got bitten quite a few times. The monsoon gardens has a lovely pool but there are no facilities to have a snack, you need to go off site to the tower or beach. Lighting is poor in the rooms and around walk ways from beach restaurant to bus, also on the stairs areas in monsoon gardens and the tower. There is a lack of mirrors too, only one in the bathroom. We were woken by a drunken group, phoned reception twice, who phoned them. Eventually they quietened after 45 mins, then started dragging furniture around. There are activities here to do. I would only recommend a short stay though, and have beach room. Recommend to people I know probably not, return visit no. Saying that the staff were excellent and friendly. The food was lovely too.

We took a beach vila expecting to dive into the ocean each morning … Forget. You cannot swim there; to shallow and… You cannot swim by the enarby jetty, because it is too crowdy. Rooms are OK, but … they would need some maintenance. The snorkeling experience was superb though. And again: nothing wrong with the staff; on the contrary.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during my roundtrip in Bali. There is nothing much around in the area but it as a nice place to relax, in the middle of a national park. When I visited it was very dry so the trees were mostly bare. I stayed in a Monsoon suite, which was a great area, as all Monsoon rooms are clustered around a pool and each room has 2 sunbeds in front of it. The room itself was big with a really comfortable bed and - thankfully – an indoor bathroom and shower. The bathroom could do with a little upgrade, but it was fine. What was a really nice touch were the delicious cookies and snake skin fruit provided in my room and the welcome message from the team on the bed. Plenty of water as well and a refill station at the Monsoon reception. Also, so lovely, at night the mosquito net gets opened and they put a little good night message on the bed. Those little extra touches are what sets a hotel apart from others. I had all my meals at the Bali tower and the food was very good. Breakfast was a la carte and there were lots of delicious choices. Service was outstanding and really friendly. I had a massage among the mangroves which was very relaxing. I also had laundry done which was really cheap and well done with same day service. You can get around by calling the buggy which usually came quickly. There are deer in the park and lots of monkeys. The only annoying things were the flies. They kept pestering me at the pool and in reception. Come here if you want some tranquillity, highly recommended.

We stayed in The Residence which had amazing views of the bay and a private swimming pool. A double decker shuttle bus transfers you to beach, restaurant etc, as you wish. Customer service was of a very high standard, food and drinks fabulous. You could spot wild deer, very special to open door first thing in morning to see them grazing on lawn. The rock pools in beach were full of weird and wonderful creatures.

We stayed at The Menjangan with our 8 yo. The wildlife was awesome, deer, lewak, many birds, monkeys. The staff were fabulous, such great hospitality, so attentive and friendly, there were many staff around assisting at all times but not obtrusive. There was a lot of activities for us and our 8 yo to do ride: bikes, horse riding, kayaking . The snorkeling (30 min boat trip) was out of this world, we felt very safe with The Menjangan guide (Wayan) was excellent. We even enjoyed just snorkelling off the jetty. The two restaurants serve great meals (including vegan) , there are no other dining options (unless you have a car) so the cost of eating in the restaurant is worth considering but it was not overly priced. We had a room in Monsoon Lodge beside the pool, and just caught the free safari bus to the beach (there is no waiting around) they come instantly). This place was so peaceful, such an incredible experience for us and our 8 yo.

We visited this resort this weekend without having much idea except that it was a good place for birdwatching and had access to good coral reefs. However our expectations were surpassed by miles here. Amazing ambience, outstanding service and beautiful surroundings. Each and every person knew of my husband's food allergy details and made sure he was well looked after. The Bali Tower was an amazing place for sunset views and the jetty for sunrise. The other decks were also lovely. The snorkeling experience rivalled Maldives and the instructor was very attentive. The ultimate experience of natural abundance. However, a word of caution for those who want action and party atmosphere in a vacation - please don't come here. You will find "nothing" to do here, where nature lovers like us will find "everything." It is a quiet and tranquil place where you will feel one with nature.

when you want to visit the menjangan national park you really do not have many options. However, as far as resorts go, The menjangan resort (not to be confused with the plataran menjangan is not too bad. However, be sure to stay in the beach villas as the monsoon lodges or villas are really ordinary and nondescript and they are a long long way from the beach with no views at all. the pool - the only highlight if you stay inthe monsoon wings is also underwhelming. There is not much privacy if you stay in the monsoon lodges or villas as they are units stuck to each other a meter or so away from the small pool. However, the beach villas in comparison have a direct view of the sea and though the beach is not a swimming beach, the view is well worth it. breakfast is decent but I can imagine it becoming monotonous after 3 days. food at both restaurants are only okay. it is expensive by indonesian standards and we wouldn't have minded paying more if it was better. hence, we nipped next door (easy walk) at low tide to the octagon - a restaurant by plataran menjangan and the food is much better for around the same price. so, we only had 1 dinner in the menjangan resort. service is good as you would expect from bali but not exceptional. be mentally prepared for the slightly apocalyptic landscape when you arrive. the rainy season is late and apparently the dry season which is normally 6 months is now 9 months in duration. so, all you see is dry season vegetation. a tangled mess. Everything is dry and dusty which came as a shock when you are used to bali being green and verdant. Climate change is not the fault of the resort but just be mentally prepared ... we weren't and were really taken aback initially. so the lush green expanse you see on the website is taken during the raining season which is roughly from Jan-March. so, as you can imagine, you don't want to stay in anything that promises you a forest view ... . stick to sea views in this part of the world. The snorkelling to the menjangan island is superb. On our first day, exhausted from the 5.5 hour ride from the airport and the underwhelming reception and welcome we got at the front desk, plus the devastatingly dry landscape, we were wondering if this has all been a bad mistake. Thank goodness, the marine experience at the menjangan island made up for it. It did not disappoint. we booked our own private trip which was a bit more expensive but it is not necessary. If you book your own directly with the agents, it is 50% of what the resort charges. we would have booked with the resort if they had their own staff and their own team but they merely acted as middle persons subcontract it to another company - so you are not getting any advantage of a more personalised service from booking with the resort - an opportunity missed by the resort to provide better service I think. snorkelling at the jetty is so so. visibility is poor from all the boat traffic and corals are degraded. However, it is interesting enough. Just do not expect too much. we have snorkelled in many places in Asia and short of the famed raja ampat (which we have not been), the snorkelling at the menjangan island is on par with wakatobi, bunaken and definitely better than the various places we have been in thailand and malaysia. we were also very lucky with visibility which was at least 20 meters but this is of course variable. The sea was not not pancake flat but it was not too rough either. we heard it gets wild during the monsoon which will definitely affect the visibility. the sealife was fantastic. though we did not see the larger predators like we did in the bunaken or the maldives, the reef is teeming with the usual reef fish . in sum, you don't have many choices in terms of resort if you want to get good snorkeling in bali. You can go to plataran and it is no doubt a sort in the next tier ... service and environment is definitely better there. If you are interested in snorkelling, snorkelling in other places in bali is just not worth getting wet ... . So, in terms of resort quality, it is no more than 3-3.5 stars but for easy access to the island which is about 25 minutes boat ride away, it is worth the trek. I would go to the island everyday for snorkeling - if you book direct with a company like west bali explorer - you pay 600 000 per person. they provide lunch but it is pretty poor so just bring a banana or an apple or some biscuits. This is where I think the resort could have stepped up by providing better services but ... ... . hint hint to the resort if you are reading this ... . provide a hot drink and a better lunch, and your own guide, you may well deserve the commission you are making. However, if you are after a balinese experience and you are not interested in marine life, look for it elsewhere. you get much better cultural and beach life experience in other places. This place is only for those who are seriously into diving or snorkelling.

My husband and I spent an amazing 4 nights / 5 days at The Menjangan last January. From the moment we arrived at the Tower until we said our goodbyes, we felt cared for. The staff were so friendly and anxious to make our stay a great one. Our room right next to the pool was spacious and comfortable. I enjoyed starting my day with my cup of coffee out by the pool, monkeys and squirrels playing in the trees above, birds singing their morning songs. Meals at both restaurants consisted of delicious fresh food, much of it locally sourced. Having a cocktail at the top of the Tower as we watched the sun go down was magical! The snorkeling outing to Menjangan Island provided us with some of the best snorkeling we have ever experienced! It was such a fun day, with new friends. Another highlight was the bird watching hike we took with a guide (Alit?). Outstanding!! His love of the birds and his job was apparent. We even saw Bali Starlings in the wild!! How about some pampering?? Nothing like a massage on the waterfront, with a mirror placed so that when you are on your stomach you can see the bay and watch the butterflies and birds go by!! Riding the shuttle back and forth from our room to other spots at the resort was fun! You never know what wildlife you might see along the way. Finding out that we were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, staff gave us the deluxe turn-down service; we came back to our room our last night to find flowers surrounding our bed and some good-bye gifts!! We were sad to leave The Menjangan, and I will forever rate resort service against the outstanding service we received there.

We have stayed for 6 days in the beach villa. The villa consists of an spacy sleeping room plus an open-air bathroom and a veranda. It‘s about 15 meter from the sea. Everyhing 100% clean. The rooms are checked twice a day. The staff is extremely caring. The snorkeling was fantastic (corals, fish). We snorkeled from the jetty at the hotel, but did also an excursion to the Menjangan island organized from the hotel (extremely well organized).
