A decadent boutique property in Singapore's atmospheric Chinatown
Recently relaunched after a major renovation, one of Singapore’s first boutique hotels—opened in 2004—remains one of its cheekiest and most provocative. It bills itself as “multifaceted, daring, uninhibited and different” and proves that claim with individually themed suites with names like Lavish and Passion. The amenities are limited but stylish: an outdoor Jacuzzi, a scene-y gym called Flaunt, a rooftop bar called Breeze that serves creative cocktails and small plates, and a casual comfort-food bistro that promises “fun dining” rather than “fine dining.”
In the Area
The hotel is near the trendy neighborhoods of Ann Siang Road and Club Street, which are lined with cool shops, boutique spas, and wine bars. To further explore Singapore’s off duty side, head to Sentosa island, known for it’s golf, beach clubs, and family-centered activities, or take in the island nation’s colonial history in the posh area around Dempsey Hill, known for its traditional black and white mansions. The nearby Singapore Botanic Gardens are filled to the brim with orchids, tropical plants, and locals taking a breather in the shade.
