An urban garden oasis on Singapore’s purpose-built resort island of Sentosa

The Lowdown

With a lush garden setting and glorious views of the South China Sea, the extensive Sentosa Singapore offers guests the kind of tropical-island-resort experience that’s usually hard to find within 30 minutes of a major urban center. Its features include 174 large guestrooms, an extensive spa, and restaurants that include the award-winning Cliff, where meals are served on dining platforms over verdant jungle. Although the full-service resort offers plenty of activities on-site (mountain biking, tennis, petanque), it also provides free shuttles to downtown Sentosa Island for shopping, dining and drinking.

In the Area

Sentosa Island is Singapore’s resort playground, and home to recreational facilities including two golf courses, the Universal Studios Singapore amusement park, a variety of beaches, and nature-based attractions like Mount Imbiah, where the impressive remnants of a British pre-World War II embankment remain. The island’s 50-plus dining establishments range from casual beach bars like the Bali-style Bikini Bar to upscale eateries like Joël Robuchon, an outpost of the famous French chef’s empire.

An awesome experience at the Kwee Zeen!

Had a Sunday brunch here. The food was fresh and tasty, and the service was outstanding. Chef Jennifer had great recommendations, and she was really friendly towards all the guests. I would recommend friends to come here to enjoy the food and ambience.

Dinner with family

Not sure if my previous review got through... so thought I’d leave another one.

I visited the Kwee zeen to celebrate my son’s birthday. Good place.

Plus: nice ambience with great view of the sea
Food was good, beef bbq, sting ray bbq, crabs was delicious.
Great server. John was excellent. Friendly, helpful, unobtrusive. He assisted in making our evening fun.

The alfresco dining area was a little dark. Some candles on each table would be helpful.
The location is a little bit obscure.
The price is a little steep; if not for the vouchers I have I might not visit.

We arrived at Sofitel Sentosa island from a direct flight from Gold Coast to Changi Airport short taxi ride

Lovely property nice welcome from staff we had checked in online the day before and our room was ready.

Very nice room and the location in the peace wing beautiful luxury room high standard very clean and comfortable on third level overlooking the gardens and water features
The room also had its own coffee maker lovely touch

There is a wood staircase pathway to the Sentosa beach area near the pool area and it was easy pace walk early morning to enjoy the area and its attractions

We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast each day lovely variety at the food stations and the staff were great very polite and helpful

We had dinner on first night at the Cliff Italian restaurant with views out over the South China Sea
Lovely service from the Manager Italian lady at front of house apologies did not have the ladies name

It was awesome meal shared plate eye fillet steak and roast vegetables rustic Italian style with really nice Italian red house wine chilled to perfection for drinking on a Singapore balmy evening

The second night we went to the Garden restaurant by golf buggy with staff member Diva top man we had a wonderfull salad pick your own from a range of greens fruit and veggies it was quite different and we choose chicken and sea bass very nice choices lovely red to enjoy the quiet evening dinner was again sensational

Chua shuttle driver was also worth a mention he was great value for the free trip to vivio shopping centre and the information provided made our Sentosa experience so much easier

We had pre dinner drinks at Le Bar chic and casual located by the pool area another great spot to relax each day

We love to stay at Sofitel worldwide and Sentosa was the best value hotel we have stayed to date in Singapore outstanding base to enjoy the Lion City

Five Star Sentosa

I stayed two nights at this resort. The wow factor starts with the amazing grand entrance & foyer & continues throughout the hotel. Comfortable rooms with enough space & a well laid out bathroom added to our stay. A huge, luxurious pool to laze around made better with a poolside bar! Very friendly & helpful staff.

Good stay but customer service not consistently up to 5 star luxury standard

We stayed for a night with our 3 years old child to celebrate my hubby's birthday.

Special arrangement request - They offered complementary birthday cake and special top up rate for upgrade. Despite my request to provide complimentary breakfast in the top up package, we were rejected. However, few days after my request, I received offer from e upgrade program for an even more attractive top up rate with complimentary breakfast. This was obviously very confusing to us. Moreover, it proved that the customer executive did not sincerely offer us a special top up rate and the system was lack of communication to convey this information to the staffs.

Check in - I would give most credit to the check in staffs, Lana and Amirah. Lana was experienced and able to answer all my queries immediately without checking the guide. She chatted to my son while I was doing the check in. She offered free upgrade to us for the fact that we were there early and we brought along young toddler. There was no record that we had complimentary breakfast but once I showed proof to Lana that the package I opted for inclusive of breakfast, she had no further question and immediately update her record. Another staff, Amirah remembered me by name and greeted us when we checked out. This is what customer service should be. I am not saying for the free upgrade itself but it's the sincerity, considerate and flexibility that make a happy customer. Special thanks to Lana.

Late check out request – Although we booked the hotel via ACCOR and we should have the option of late check out and it was mid of the week during exam period but our request for late check out was still rejected as the hotel explained it’s fully occupied. We had no choice but to place our sleeping child on the sofa of Le Bar. This is unacceptable as we were never rejected for late checkout request especially with a young toddler.

Le Bar – The middle age bartender is a very fatherly man who greet us well and chat with us when we were having our drinks there. He made us feel welcome and comfortable in sitting there long with our sleeping child.

Room wise - fantastic room with great greenery view. Bed is the most comfortable bed ever. Parking is also accessible to our Prestige Suite.

The Garden Restaurant – Called the restaurant to request cake for my hubby but the staff wasn't experience to answer even simple question like whether the cake is complementary or not. The slow cooked chicken and wasabi seabass were cooked to perfection but we were a bit disappointed with the presentation of the chicken as it was beautifully decorated previously but now they didn’t put the effort on decorating the dish. We were served by a fantastic lady waitress who chat with the kids and even offered ice cream when they were out of patience on dining table. My child fell asleep during dinner, she was so sweet to provide blanket and offered us to move my child to lie on a bench.

Breakfast at Kwee Zeen – Entry to the restaurant was not so pleasant as the staff couldn’t find our room number in the list and questioned us for another room number which was very weird as I did not know there would have another room number. Decent variety of breakfast inclusive of western, local, Chinese and Jap. View of outside sitting area is great and the air is refreshing.

Swimming pool - water was surprisingly warm after a rainy day. However, there is no kid pool cater for young toddlers.

So Spa - we can't comment much as kids below 18 not allowed to enter. Kind of wasted since we had complementary entry to outside facilities of So Spa.

Kid club - small but enough to entertain kids for 1 to 2 hrs.

Overall, it was a good experience staying there with such a beautiful environment and few wonderful staffs with heart-warming service . However, we did not feel the customer service is consistently up to five star luxury standard from all aspects. We still look forward to go back if the customer service can be more considerate and consistent in the future.
