Overview

A sleek hotel in Singapore's upscale nightlife district, with a fresh design concept and lovely guest rooms

The Lowdown

M Social is a designer’s dream. Mirrored surfaces, concrete walls, steeple-like ceilings are just some of the design elements thrown together to create the boutique hotel’s avant-garde appearance. It is also designed by famed French designer, Phillppe Starck. Known for his quirky interior, architectural and product designs, he has brought his brand of urban style to this riverside stay. Though dramatic in appearance, the rooms are fantastically comfortable spaces. Guests pick from alcove-inspired dens to loft-style spaces, where beds sit on a mezzanine floor above the glass-encased bathrooms. The cosmopolitan-chic rooms complement a visit to the fabulous island city of Singapore perfectly.

In the Area

Located along the Singapore river, M Social is nestled in one of the city’s nightlife districts. But unlike the boisterous, party-haven Clarke Quay (just a 10 minute walk from the hotel), M Social is located at Roberston Quay. An upscale area known for its classy drinking spots, cheese and wine bars, al fresco restaurants and array of authentic Japanese restaurants. Here you’ll be in one of the city’s chicest neighborhoods.

Great Experience - Excellent value, good location and friendly staff
Reviewed 2 days ago

I recently travelled to Singapore on a work trip and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at M Social. The location is great on Robertson Quay and the value was exceptional. The exterior Quay is pretty quiet during the day, however it comes alive at night with loads of great restaurant and bar options within 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel. Rooms are modern, neat and tidy. I wasn't completely sold on the loft style set up with the bed upstairs, however it was fine. My only one negative which is hardly a negative is that there's almost no waitstaff at breakfast. There's an automated omelette station and self serve coffee / everything. Although fascinating to see robot's taking over human roles and obviously an efficiency in terms of staff wages, however, there's something nice about being greeted with a friendly face as you start the day. Overall a great stay - very accommodating staff and cocktail hour was great whilst I wrapped up some unfinished business. I would definitely stay here again.

First time in Singapore but loved it all. This hotel was perfect. Room was on the small side but we knew that and it had all we needed. All staff friendly and helpful. It was all about location. Yes, it was a 15 min walk to MTR but this was pleasant. Lovely bars and restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Nicely placed budget breakfast
Reviewed 3 days ago

M Social is well located along the River with restaurants/bars close by. Rooms small and compact but everything you needed for a short stay.
Pool area can get over crowded as not many sun beds.
Now for breakfast, what a let down, eggs badly secede by a machine complete with shell if it even managed to put it on your plate and so slow, the choice was also very poor, the pancake machine was also very slow and results were under cooked/doughy.
Everything had a cheap budget brand taste so breakfast was dreaded. Just pay someone to cook eggs properly it would be so much more appreciated and people wouldn’t have to wait ages for a rubbery bland item that’s supposed to resemble an omelette. The tap style levers on the juice/milk were awkward and slow.

Good enough .... Nothing special though.

Location is perfect- very central and yet away from the busy main road.
Check in process is easy and the helpful staff are very keen to assist you.
Once you check in the rooms are on the very small size, we feel.
Service is good though.
There is a good breakfast spread every day.
We liked the robotic omelette maker - which is an attraction for the kids.

Lovely hotel

Stayed in an Alcove room which was small but totally fine. Could do with a book of information of the hotel and tours etc rather than just the phone that is provided as not the easiest to work.

Hotel design is lovely and different from the normal. They offer an opt out of housekeeping where you can choose a welcome drink, late check out or snack which is good for short stays. Staff are friendly and really quick to help with any issues (our door battery died and was fixed instantly). Could do with some more loungers around the pool but it is lovely there with towels provided and water. Gym is also small but useable for a decent full body workout.

The area is fantastic and would recommend going to the bar bar black sheep bar next door as prices are inclusive of tax and GST and are decent. The hotel bar is good too for a chilling drink. About 10 minutes walk to Clarke Quay which is really lively and its walking by the river thats lovely.

Would stay at this hotel again and recommend to friends. Only issue ive had is i havent had my deposit returned to me nearly 2 weeks after staying but i have only just contacted the hotel regarding this and awaiting response.
