M Social is a designer’s dream. Mirrored surfaces, concrete walls, steeple-like ceilings are just some of the design elements thrown together to create the boutique hotel’s avant-garde appearance. It is also designed by famed French designer, Phillppe Starck. Known for his quirky interior, architectural and product designs, he has brought his brand of urban style to this riverside stay. Though dramatic in appearance, the rooms are fantastically comfortable spaces. Guests pick from alcove-inspired dens to loft-style spaces, where beds sit on a mezzanine floor above the glass-encased bathrooms. The cosmopolitan-chic rooms complement a visit to the fabulous island city of Singapore perfectly.
In the Area
Located along the Singapore river, M Social is nestled in one of the city’s nightlife districts. But unlike the boisterous, party-haven Clarke Quay (just a 10 minute walk from the hotel), M Social is located at Roberston Quay. An upscale area known for its classy drinking spots, cheese and wine bars, al fresco restaurants and array of authentic Japanese restaurants. Here you’ll be in one of the city’s chicest neighborhoods.
How to Get There
I was suprised with it room design. Is a comfort hotel for traveler to have a rest after long day journey of working or holidaying. The cafeteria staff is very nice and perform professional service. The location is strategic and easy get to others places in singapore.
We loved our stay here. The staff were friendly and happy to stay help. We had two different groups travelling together and the staff put us in rooms next door to eachother. We enjoyed the pool and the beds were comfortable. We found the windows for walls for the bathroom a little odd- there are blinds but it lights up the whole room at night if someone needs the bathroom. Be warned that the nearest MRT is a bit of a walk but the vibe in the area makes up for it.
Its a bit shallow I know when in a Philippe Starck designed bedroom to focus on the bed! Indulge me please as on a 24 hr stopover between Australia and Scotland good rest was very much appreciated. In a fabulous location at Robertson Quay, close to restaurants, bars and the river this was an easy and relaxing place to be as a solo traveller. Can’t wait to return. 4 stars given as I didn’t find the restaurant too welcoming.
I suggest you read several reviews of this property to get a full impression. Yes, the rooms are small but very trendy and funtional. Great for solo or couple travelers. Some have an outside patio with a chair that makes for a nice plant filled view, even if it's too humid to enjoy it all the time.
I found the bed to be high quality and all the amenities to be very nice. The room layout is funtional but the sink being not closed off may crate issues for some couples.
The restaurant was very good and has a good but a slightly expensive buffet. Try to get a deal that includes breakfast if you can. I ate a dinner there as I wanted to stay in one night and the selection was good and the preparation was creative with good sized portions.
The staff was way above average which is key to me. Very helpful, happy, friendly and efficient.
The hotel location is the best for me nestled right on the river in Robertson Quay and very close to a bunch of good restaurants and coffee shops. It's right there without crossing and bridges or walking any streets and thier restaurant, Beasts and Butterfly I think it's called, sits directly on the river pathway.
The price I was able to get, was very reasonable when compared to the area. This part of Singapore has less tourists and more locals and is situated right where all the ex-pats live, so they feel is more like a community than a tourist hot spot. I'll be back for sure.
I'll be back, you can count on that.
Clean, tidy room with spacious restaurant for breakfast that comes with variety of choices. Using the robot to deliver the free drink voucher was truly a great surprise and new experience to me. Only drawback was I woke up in the middle of night searching for missing pillow. Hope the hotel can provide a long square pillow rather than a smaller perfect square size pillow to ease good sleep.
