How to Get There
The walls have a very unique effect on photos which makea it Instagrammable. Very clean, smells good, with complimentary water, mini bars and coffee, very friendly staff and welcoming. Thank you for a lovely stay.
For Singapore, worth the money, great location, easy to get a taxi or Grab, easy 10min walk to Lavender MRT station for easy access over the island, also shops and food places to eat.
Great staff at all hours.
7/11 across the road and a number of hawker centres around for good local food.
Staff friendly and helpful. Room was small but ok, room was clean and the AC was good, nice touch of having a small selection mini bar for free and replenished each day, also a nice felt toiletry bag to keep and take home.
Tip for hotel, have a diet coke option in the mini bar.
Tip 2, pay tv and other tv channels, tv was limited.
For industrial chic, I would highly recommend this hotel in Singapore.
I usually stay in more expensive accommodation when in Singapore but prices were through the roof at the beginning of my last trip and so I thought I would experiment with more budget accommodation. The Hotel Yan did not disappoint. Well priced, small, clean but modern ("concrete industrial") rooms - I booked the slightly more expensive "Superior Double with Balcony" and would do so again. Double bed seemed a bit short which was fine, since I was alone on this trip. Will likely be cozy for 5' 10" / 6' or taller couple.
On the one hand it is a bit off the beaten track, but on the other hand, since everything in SG is easy and close via transit, this is a good base from which to explore the city. A pub (which I didn't try) and cafes down the road; a typical outdoor food court kitty corner across the street; a temple right across the road (beware the bell); and Jalan Besar Sports Centre just a few doors away, replete with soccer stadium and public pool.
The lobby looks trendy but doesn't really seem to offer any services; although I only hung out there briefly. The in room "complementary minibar" is a tiny fridge with (in my) case 2 cans of coke, 2 small M&M bags and BBQ chips which were replenished every night. All good, unless you expected free flowing beer and spirits in which case you will be disappointed.
Again … good value, safe, comfy but small … nevertheless seemed to be good value IMO.
