Overview

A contemporary hotel at the crossroads of Singapore’s business and shopping districts

The Lowdown

A mini-city within the city of Singapore, the Fairmont occupies two soaring towers with 769 rooms and suites. Rooms range from standard doubles in white and beige to more lavish rooms with purple accents and details inspired by Singapore’s Straits Chinese heritage; all come with balconies. The spa is one of the most extensive in Asia, with 32 treatment rooms, abundant water and relaxation areas, and a treatment menu that ranges from a sea thalasso kur (bath) to Kerstin Florian caviar facials.

In the Area

Retail therapy is serious business in Singapore, and the hotel is located right in the heart of the shopping districts. The mile-long Orchard Road, with its vast array of retail outlets and mega malls, is about a five-minute train ride away. More offbeat shopping can be found in Kampong Glam‘s Arab Street, where merchants sell camel skin bags, cloisonné boxes, and colorful fabric. Chinatown is home to great, inexpensive restaurants, especially at the Smith Street Hawker Centre.

Best customer service and In room dining

I ordered butter chicken because I was craving it one evening and to my surprise, it was delicious !!! I was very hesitant to order at first because it was kind of pricey and I wasn't sure if the quality would be good because I ordered around midnight. Maybe the chef went home, so they might give me microwaved butter chicken, but no. It was hands down, very good. I'm also a clean freak, so I would wipe down the light switches, remote control and phone when I reach a hotel. My disinfectant wipe would come off brown sometimes at some hotels, but not Fairmont. This hotel is considered quite clean. Only concern was the water pressure when we shower. The water pressure wasn't very strong, so I hope they can get that fixed for the next time I come stay. We received welcome drink vouchers when we arrived so we went to redeem at Anti:Dote. I got some guava mocktail, and it was really good. Usually people are pretty stingy with their free drinks or the restaurant where you get the free drink might not make it taste good. But no, the drinks were really tasty and the portion was enough for you to remain at the restaurant for a good hour. Atmosphere was good too.

Perfect Hotel

This hotel has been around for a long time but never disappoints. I was upgraded on arrival to a beautiful room with a stunning view. The staff could not have been more helpful and nothing felt like was any trouble to them. The hotel is in a perfect location for access to the MRT and the sites of Singapore. I will be staying there again on my next visit for sure.

Great Location and Service

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The service, room, facilities and location were all excellent. We particularly enjoyed the view from our room and being able to access the incredible underground directly from the hotel versus having to take taxis or other modes of slow surface transport. All in all we had a great time.

Very pleasantly surprised

With the many newly built hotels in town, I was tempted to try one of them but opted for the more established Fairmont and I was not disappointed. Although the hotel building is not new, the room was large and very well kept. Furnishings were tasteful and filled with amenities. I especially liked the remote controlled curtains.

Hotel is ideally situated next to Raffles Place mall and right above the City Hall mtr. I can’t tell you how convenient it is to have the train station so close when you need a rest from sight seeing from time to time. Navigating the underground malls and eateries was an adventure all on its own.

Staff was attentive and dependable. The Fairmont is certainly for the discerning traveler who wants the five star service and comfort without the gimmicky unnecessary excess.

Special thanks to Gina at the front desk who helped us through a very early arrival (6am) and late departure (midnight)!

Arrived for our first stay in Singapore and the lovely people at Fairmont upgraded us to a room with the most amazing view of the bay - must be the best view in Singapore! Great location and excellent service. Will certainly stay there again.
