Overview

A contemporary hotel at the crossroads of Singapore’s business and shopping districts

The Lowdown

A mini-city within the city of Singapore, the Fairmont occupies two soaring towers with 769 rooms and suites. Rooms range from standard doubles in white and beige to more lavish rooms with purple accents and details inspired by Singapore’s Straits Chinese heritage; all come with balconies. The spa is one of the most extensive in Asia, with 32 treatment rooms, abundant water and relaxation areas, and a treatment menu that ranges from a sea thalasso kur (bath) to Kerstin Florian caviar facials.

In the Area

Retail therapy is serious business in Singapore, and the hotel is located right in the heart of the shopping districts. The mile-long Orchard Road, with its vast array of retail outlets and mega malls, is about a five-minute train ride away. More offbeat shopping can be found in Kampong Glam‘s Arab Street, where merchants sell camel skin bags, cloisonné boxes, and colorful fabric. Chinatown is home to great, inexpensive restaurants, especially at the Smith Street Hawker Centre.

We spent 4 nights at the Fairmont Motel in Singapore. I would have given it 5 stars apart from the fact we were not informed that the motel was undergoing renovations and the pool and pool bar/restaurant was closed. To make up for this the motel was providing transport to and from other motels to use their pools - not the same. It should be on the website - or we should have been sent an email about this. However all the staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome. Luxurious beds made sleeping a joy. The view from the SKAI bar is amazing and need to be experienced. Great position - close to transport and shopping/Restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

Appreciate the hospitality by Fairmont, especially wanted to compliment Amin for his pleasant attitude in giving us a complimentary upgrade with a bathtub which my gal loved it (as the pool is undergoing an upgrading and my 5 year old was disappointed) and a late check-out. These kind gestures ensure our family had a wonderful stay in the hotel.

Even though the hotel is undergoing a renovation in the other tower, the sound insulation is acceptable by my standard.

Renovation in progress

Would have been good to know, at the time of my reservation, about their (mostly needed) renovation in progress: pool is closed, and breakfast is served in 2 places in the mall or in Swisshotel, not really ideal. Not also really happy with their beds, that are way too soft for my preferences.

Thank you Fairmont. We checked at 2:30 am exhausted. Our room was ready and decorated with rose petals as it was our anniversary. Great location. Thank you Chezza Pena for helping and taking care of us. You can walk most places or it's a 5 Dollar fare to every place else. A classy hotel that lives up to the Fairmont standards.

The Centre of Singapore

The Hotel, though under renovations is in the centre of everything. 2nd floor leads to a shopping mall. 3rd floor leads to a food court with various food. Shares restaurant with Swissotel where awesome breakfast lasted me a whole day of discovering singapore and Senosa resort. When Hotel staff reach out with a bucket of ice to help your pain and offer to let a member of staff help you then you feel home out of home.
