Lovely Hotel - Great Location - Friendly, Helpful Staff
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I had a lovely stay (alas for only one night). Comfortable, clean and spacious room. Great location - within safe walking distance to the entire old section of town AND right on the promenade next to the beach. I wasn't planning on staying in Mazatlan and I wasn't, to be honest, expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised all around and would definitely go back and stay at the Casa Lucila!

Great stay with great views

My husband and stayed at this hotel for two much needed nights of rest. The hotel gave us an ocean view room on the 2nd floor. The room was huge with a balcony lookingnover the ocean and malecón. Our room was a king bed room with deliciously soft and comfortable bedding. There’s a mini refrigerator which they stock with complimentary bottled water and soft drinks. There’s also a TV, WiFi and a coffee maker for coffee to enjoy in the room or on the balcony in the morning.

The bathroom was just as spacious; walk-in shower with all the amenities needed to wash your body and hair, soft towels, honey body and hand lotion (I believe the products are made locally) and bathrobes to use during your stay.

We had breakfast on the outside patio each morning and it was delicious! The menu offers a variety of fairly priced omelettes and egg dishes, plus fruit plates, fresh juices and alternative milk options like almond and soy milk for coffee and tea.

The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were traveling with two surfboards and two mountain bikes on our car, and the bellman assisted us with storing them at the hotel. When it was time for us to depart, the surfboards and bikes were waiting for us on the curb and again one of the lovely staff helped us.

This is a wonderful hotel to stay in. Staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Thank you all! We certainly needed these two days to rest and recharge before the long drive to Puerto Vallarta! We hope to return again soon!!!!

Amazing Service and A Wonderful Vacation - A+

My girlfriend and I stayed at Casa Lucila for 5 days this last week and it was a perfect vacation in every way. The hotel staff was incredibly nice and helpful and the accommodations were super comfortable. The hotel is clean, drinks are delicious, and the pool area was the best place we found to enjoy a beer and the beautiful sunsets.

There are tons of great places to eat within walking distance of the hotel and we felt safe walking around the historic area of Mazatlan. We were overjoyed to stay here versus the golden zone after heading up that way for a day trip :)

We can't wait to come back next year!

A lovely, quiet boutique inn.

Casa Lucila was the perfect base for our recent 4 day visit. The location is ideal - unobstructed ocean views & the constant sound of crashing waves without the chaos of being inside the "golden zone" tourist area. Immediate access to beach is not a priority for us, but there is a nice beach area only a block away. Plazuela Machado (the heart of Centro Historico & home of many restaurants & street vendors) is an easy 5 minute walk.

Casa Lucila is spotlessly clean. The staff are all unfailingly accommodating. The restaurant serves all meals and provides room service, although we only had breakfasts there. Any negative comments, by comparison, are minor. I thought some decorative accessories or local artwork in our rather minimalist room would have been a nice addition (although it's possible that the humidity & other ocean-related conditions may affect that). Also, I would have appreciated better lighting for reading - other than the ceiling light, there were only 2 night-stand lights with minimal light-span.

We would stay at Casa Lucila again without hesitation.

Lovely Low Key Boutique Hotel by the Sea

My husband and I just returned from a week in Mazatlan and we stayed at Casa Lucila for 4 days. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is beautifully set on a bluff overlooking the Pacifc just a 5 minute walk from centro Mazatlan - the old, historic colonial center. The hotel is immaculately clean. Our room was very spacious and so was the bathroom (all rooms have showers only I think). We had a terrace too. The hotel is small and quaint and quiet and private. The public rooms are really cheerful and beautifully appointed. We loved eating breakfast on the terrace (weather permitting - it can be windy) or inside in the restaurant. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh and amazing. We loved the wait staff - they were so friendly and helpful. We had lunch only once and drinks only once - but both experiences were terrific. The front desk staff is lovely too - they will fill any request. On the top level is a tiny pool with a few comfortable lounge chairs. My only request is that the hotel gets an umbrella or two for those of us who wish to lounge out of doors but out of the sun. We heard that the hotels owners, Conquita and Chris, has just sold out to a hotel chain. I hope this doesn't effect the quality and the personal touch that is offered.I travel a lot and thus I feel very comfortable recommending Casa Lucila. It's definitely the most luxurious hotel in town.
