La Residence Blanc D’Angkor
What We Love
- Get around by tuk tuk from a boutique hotel close to the Temples of AngkorCatching sight of the sunset from the hotel's pool
- How easy it is to travel to Angkor Wat from the hotel (the airport is nearby, too)
- The illustrated murals in the guest rooms of this boutique retreat
What To Know
- The tropical gardens are centered around the tranquil pool
- It's 15 minutes to Angkor Wat
- The friendly staff is all smiles
Angkor Wat, the grand Khmer structure that has towered for centuries in the heart of Cambodia is known for its otherworldly structures and fascinating mix of natural and man-made features. A stay at the peaceful La Residence Blanc D’Angkor will put you just 15 minutes away from its doorstep.
Stellar location aside, La Residence Blanc is a cosy haven and recipient of TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence. The grounds are lush with tropical greenery, all centred around a blue pool in the heart of the courtyard. Spend a quiet moment lounging by the pool and catch the sunset from a shady spot on the deck.
Inside, you’ll find each room to be chic and comfortable, the bedroom accompanied by a large balcony and couch. But what stands out is the exquisite mural that adorns the wall behind the bed. The murals are different in each room, each depicting a majestic piece of art or architecture from Cambodia’s history, bringing you closer to the Khmer culture.
How to Get There
We stayed for 5 nights at the Residence. Beforehand we had only booked for two nights but extended our stay, because we were so comfortable there.
The hotel has a nice, tropical entrance area with restaurant tables next to a beautiful fish pond. In the lobby itself, various sitting opportunitis are available and the atmosphere is very friendly and comfy. Also, the residence has a really beautiful, natural swimming pool with different heights, so we could swim or just chill with a cocktail in our hands (which btw. sold for 1,5 dollars or sth. in the happy hour).
The most remarkable thing about the residence is the service. The young staff was very attentive to what was needed and seemed to really care about our stay. There were a lot of little things that showed us the great effort, that they put in their work. In the end, we even got a 4 course Cambodian dinner for free, because we stayed there for 5 nights - it was great!
All employees at the hotel were super friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble and they went out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. Room rates were good and the rooms were clean and tidy with great aircon. I have been to many hotels that advertise free wifi which ends up being so slow it is almost unusable, but Blanc D'Angkor's wifi was great for us even at the back of the hotel (15-18 mbps upload and download speed). Breakfast was different each day, with noodle soup, omelets and a variety of three hot dishes apart from the croissants, toast, fruit, etc. The pool was a welcome addition as was the reasonably-priced room service (well, pool-service really because we ate poolside). The location of the hotel is a little out of the centre of town but this also means it is a bit of a quiet, peaceful oasis. The hotel's tuktuk drivers were excellent and told you the real price instead of trying to rip you off, which meant you were happy to give them a decent tip anyway.
Overall, a great place to stay with the people being the outstanding feature, making you feel so welcome. Thanks Dara and everyone else, we will be back.
Dara and his staff were a delight. They couldn’t have wanted to serve you any harder !!
The hotel was adequate yet needs some TLC by the owners. The pool was fine. The food we had was limited on choices but OK
Good location for town.
Come and support these people - it will get better with their hard work
