How to Get There
My wife and I stayed in this hotel during the second leg of our travel, where we intend to explore Chengdu and the attractions in its vicinity. It was definitely a good decision! The hotel staffs were friendly, approachable and went out of their ways to ensure that our stay had been fruitful and homely.
We would like to firstly thank George and Jeff for helping to arrange for a local driver and guide for our day tours to attractions in the vicinity of Chengdu such as Leshan, Mount Emei, Mount Qingcheng, Dujiangyan, etc. This was probably something beyond their call of duty and it enabled us to maximise our stay in Chengdu while saving us the hassle of planning our daily itineraries. I was personally impressed when George/Jeff’s communication with my wife had always been prompt despite them working in shifts, and at times when my wife emailed them while we were back home.
We would also like to thank Rebecca and her team (including Dorothy who checked us in!), and two other lady staffs who served us at the Horizon Club Lounge daily during breakfast and dinner. Their friendly disposition made us felt at home and relaxed, especially at times when we came back to the hotel late at night after a full day of mountain hiking. We were also pleasantly surprised when Rebecca and team presented us a lovely farewell card on our last evening at the lounge. Great gesture!
Lastly, we would like to give special mention to the housekeeping service, which obliged to do housekeeping based on our tight daily morning schedules. The housekeeper also left extra bottles of mineral water when he/she noticed my wife was taking medication. Very thoughtful of the housekeeper!
In all, we had a pleasant and unforgettable stay at Shangri-La Chengdu and we would definitely go for this experience again in the future!
Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff. In particular, Jeff Wang, your Concierage Service Leader, was so helpful to our group. He was very patient with us as we were making decisions on several different tours. He made some great suggestions to steer us in the right direction. He secured a cab driver for us as one of our tours was an all day tour. The driver stayed with us the entire time. Jeff Wang is a great asset to your establishment. It’ll be our pleasure to use Jeff again on our next trip
This is my favorite lounge in all of Chengdu. The food and staff and exceptional - particularly Chef Danney in food prep and Anita in service. They truly make you feel valued and desire to meet your every request. The friendly, professional service is something rarely found in the U.S.
I highly recommend the beautiful hotel and phenomenal lounge. And if you’re here for breakfast, do not miss the Dan-Dan noodles. And the view from the 36th floor is unbeatable.
Excellent experience. The hotel is in central city, from the hotel you can see the famous golden bridge. You would love it if you like drinking, the ‘bar street’ is only 200 meters away. The hotel is clean and spacious. The people were very helpful. One of my fellow travelers couldn’t find his luggage at the airport (Air China sucks by the way) and he speaks no word of Chinese, the people from the hotel kept calling air China and finally managed to get the luggage back. Strongly recommended.
Hard/impossible to find fault with the Shangri-La Hotel in Chengdu. Our room was excellent and in very good order and if one is slightoly higher up the view over the towers and cityscape is superb. The breakfast buffet was one of/the best we have ever had with an enormous selection of styles and flavours. It is busy but very well staffed hence not the bunfight as maybe the case in other large hotels. The staff is friendly and all spoke very good English and were polite to respond to our limited courtesies in Mandarin Chinese.
A great base to explore Chengdu and about forty minutes by car to the Panda Park. Highly recommended!
