How to Get There
The hotel is in the most perfect location to explore and for night life. Breakfast at the hotel were absolutely delicious. Service personal were always available to help and at the time to relax the ambiance was phenomenal.
We stayed at this hotel with a touring group. It is very clean and beautifully appointed both in the public area and the rooms. We originally had a room on the 23rd floor which backed onto the lift area. Very noisy but when I told the reception they changed our room and upgraded us. The breakfast was very good and we ate in Mooney’s bar which was just a bar in the Irish style. Nice outdoor area for our group and nobody else there. Reasonable prices for Shangri-La. we also had dinner in the buffet for $60 AUD which was very nice. Somethings we were disappointed with though like the lobster tails which were tough. Lots of other foods were delicious and great desserts. House wine included. Staff were friendly and helpful. A nice place to stay but lacks any real Chinese ambiance. Very suitable for disabled on all floors.
Stayed here for 3 days. In hot Chengdu this was a cool oasis of clean luxury.
Staff was attentive, rooms large and well furnished. Bathroom was superb with high end toiletries. We opted for a corner room which gave huge windows that afforded views of both the city and the river areas.
Very quiet. Free bottled water every day. Asked for extra towels the first day and then automatically got them thereafter. Housekeeping was thorough. Bedding is also luxurious.
The hotel is situated next to the river with shops, bars, and restaurants all nearby.
The breakfast buffet is outstanding with an abundance of Eastern and Western choices which changed daily. The selection of fruit was over the top. Great teas and fancy coffees too.
Staff English is quite limited but adequate. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home.
If you are in Chengdu, don’t waste time looking at other 5 star hotels. The Shangri-La Chengdu is spectacular with the best location, best view, superb rooms and immaculate service. Most importantly it is the staff who made the stay so memorable, to name few, Ms. Yvonne at the Horizon Lounge and Chef Ms. Danney who is in my view the best hotel chef I have met.
This is one of the few hotels I rate as more than 5 stars!
Arrived in the middle of the night to this massive hotel where we were checked in quickly but no one assisted us with luggage to our river view club room.
Room was comfortable until we discovered some kind of sediment on the bathroom floor and generally poor bathroom lighting.
After a missed wake up call and missed turndown service we spoke to the duty manager Jason and suddenly our stay changed completely. He is excellent and highly professional and we felt like we were getting personal attention in a rather massive impersonal hotel. Thank you Jason who ensured no further mishaps occurred.
The Club Lounge is superb and the food there is wonderful. Also the staff are excellent... Dorothy and others.
Breakfast and Evening cocktails they put out a huge spread. Very worthwhile.
Overall our stay started off a bit unacceptable for a 5 star hotel but once brought to the attention of management was corrected appropriately and graciously.
