Great service and hospitality

The experience in this hotel has always been wonderful. Even though maybe this was my #50 times stayed in this hotel?! It’s my home away from home. Guest service is always impressed and the staffs are always outstanding. The hotel has the best view of the bund and the breakfast is awesome! From the moment I started my check in process until I left the hotel, I always felt the loyalty from my end had been truly appreciated. Also I would like to take a moment to recognize one of their employees, Richan Xu who works at the front desk has been extremely go above beyond of this job and helped me few times with my concerns and requests . A truly blessed young man with great attitude and professionalism. Thank you for doing a great job and hope to see y’all again soon.

Good hardware but very average software

The rooms and facilities are excellent and the view from the room over the river is great. There are ballrooms and conference rooms attached to the hotel. However, the staff are not up to the standards of other Shangri-La hotels. In particular, the front desk staff are rather slow in dealing with the customers.

Staffs are friendly (especially Celine from Housekeeping, a very helpful lady).

Breakfast is to my liking as well. I enjoyed it a lot. Selection might not be a lot but the food is of good quality.

We got a room on the 20th floor, overseeing the Pudong river and the high rise of Shanghai.

I enjoyed my stay here. :)

Location is great and convenient as well.

Good business hotel along river in Pudong
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Location: Along the river on the Pudong side of Shanghai
Hotel: 2 big wings of ~20 floors; pool, gym, shops, restaurants and big lobby with bar
Room: Mine was of good size partially facing the bund
Positives: Very good location if you need to visit offices along river (such as Citi Tower)
Negatives: Not many that I could think of but finishing and service weren't excellent hence 4 stars
Ranking at time of writing: #10 of 5414 Hotels in Shanghai

I had to visit our offices in Citi Tower and hence opted for the Shangri-la (the other hotel in the vicinity is Ritz in the IFC). The hotel is situated across from the IFC on one end and along the promenade on the other. The hotel is big with 2 towers (each having their own lobby and reception/concierge). There are several restaurants, bar and shops in the hotel.

My room was of good size with a king sized bed and a table/chair with ample space to walk around. The bathroom had a shower and a bathtub. The finishing were slightly dated but not too bad. I had a side view of the bund.

The breakfast was a decent spread of western and Asian offerings but was spread widely across the restaurant (a bit unusual in my experience). The staff was prompt but not over the top.

All in a good hotel to stay at if you're visiting Shanghai on work and have to visit offices along the river/IFC.

Lower quality than Shangri-La standards

Unlike Shangri-La standard hotels, this property is an aging hotel that needs improvements. It is still 50 minute car ride to Pudong airport.

The River-view room is basic and lacks decorations. The heat does not seem to be working. I set the thermostat to heat at 23C, and it was still chilly. TV is also old and mostly have local Chinese channels.

Door was tight and once closed, it is tough to open.

Cold outside air is seeping through windows.
