How to Get There
We stayed here for 5 days in November. We had a suite with a river view. It looked out on the Bund and the Pudong skyline. Absolutely stunning views and the perfect place to watch the light show each night.
The mattress is starting to sag in the middle, but I still slept fine. The breakfast was great and included with the room. Combination of eastern and western options - toast, yogurt, dim sum, charcuterie, salad bar, congee, curries, etc. Nice way to start each day.
They stock the room with free water bottles each day, which was really nice since the tap water here isn't drinkable. The bottles are on the small side so they are perfect for throwing in a purse and heading out for the day.
I do wish there was more English speaking staff, but it was manageable with good ol' fashioned body language and the Google Translate app.
Also, I wouldn't want to tote luggage here from the metro. The closest stop is at Yuyuan Gardens off Line 10. The second closest is East Nanjing Road off Line 2. Both are at least a 10 minute walk.
We chose this hotel for our first visit to Shanghai based on past reviews. The location gives easy access to the river walks and ferry and our room had a magnificent view over the Bund. It is about a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station and a similar walk to Old City God Temple Snack Street. The concierge was very helpful in getting us tickets to the acrobat show and with ongoing advice. the breakfast range is good and the dining area pleasant. The only problem during our stay were the night roadworks immediately outside the hotel but there was not anything that could be done to prevent that and the hotel at least advised us about it.
This hotel is at a great spot for seeing the Bund in Shanghai. It is across the street from the walkway along the river and also directly across the street from the ferry that will cost you $.50 per person one way (thus only $1 for a return trip) to cross the river to the financial district. Ask for a river view and a room high up. The night view is fantastic. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. It isn't the cheapest around, but it is at a better spot. The hotel staff are pretty good with English, which is a real plus. You can ask for a map of Shanghai at the check in desk on the 3rd floor. When you arrive you take the elevator to the 3rd floor for check in. Then you take another elevator up to your room. There are 2 restaurants on the premises. We only ate at the one near the 3rd floor lobby and the food was excellent. Breakfast was included and was good, only the food wasn't very hot. If you ask for a freshly made omelet at the grill it should be hot. You can store your luggage there if you are checking out early and need to get your luggage later - they don't charge for this. They will also call for an Uber taxi if you need a transfer to the airport. It costs about 200 to 250 yen as of Nov 2019. I got a taxi on my own from the airport to the hotel and it cost me 350 yen.
