PERFECT in Every Way!
Germaine F

We traveled through Scotland in July, staying at 5-star castles and 5-star properties. Roxburghe Hotel was by far our favorite for many reasons! This property closed for a complete renovation and just opened in spring 2019. A masterful renovation job was done. Our room was lovely and spacious with a 4-poster bed at the end of a long hallway on the first floor. Quiet and serene. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with interesting tile. My only issue was that the towel warmer was not working and I asked for three days about getting it fixed. (Instead they laundered my compression stockings for free since I need to wear them daily.)

The building is magnificent and the grounds are wonderful. Since the weather was fine, we enjoyed them when we weren't touring the area with our private tour guide, James Campbell of Edinburgh (see my review). I especially enjoyed the moldings in the rooms. I took photos of them because they were distinctive and up-lit. So gorgeous! The bar was relaxing and was actually a library. The living room/main sitting room was so appealing I could have spent hours in there....

The dining was simply delightful with excellent service, never pretentious. Breakfasts and dinners were superb! My only comment is they bring toast to your table before you order breakfast, and it often is not needed once you order your choice. I observed that this toast at other tables is often wasted. Maybe toast could be an ordered item in the future....

Overall, The Roxburghe was our favorite hotel stay this trip, and when they add their spa in the future, we'll surely return!

Booked a junior suite for a few nights as a treat to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary which was fabulous with a balcony over looking the gardens.
Hotel has character and is immaculate.
Breakfast was first class as was the food in the restaurant for dinner.
There are also some lovely walks around the castle grounds.
Staff were so attentive, nothing was to much trouble with a special mention to Angus who was an absolute star.
We enjoyed the overall experience so much we are looking to return in November for my 50th Birthday.

Top, Top Quality

My wife and I have just spent 5 nights at this wonderful hotel just outside Kelso.

It is superb and had everything we wanted. It’s a lovely historic building, and the staff behave completely professionally while also being very friendly and unstuffy. The food is excellent and there is a wide menu choice. There are excellent public rooms and lounges, and the quality of the furnishings is superb too. There are extensive manicured grounds offering all sorts of outdoor sporting activities. It is an excellent base for touring the Borders area, which offers a multitude of places of interest. It is truly a top quality hotel.
