How to Get There
We have just stayed here for a long weekend and I would like to thank the staff for a great stay, from check in to departure the service has been excellent.
The room was great, very stylish and comfortable, with a large bathroom/ wet room.
We had a garden view which even on a dull day was beautiful.
Breakfast was amazing and excellent value for money.
The shuffle/ bar is beautiful this time of the year and a welcome escape from the busy city
I will be coming back to stay and would recommend this hotel for a stay in Edinburgh
This is a review full of first world problems but nonetheless....
The hotel staff was good. The rooms nicely decorated, breakfast fine and the beds amazingly comfortable but there was, for me at least, something odd about the hotel.
Edinburgh is an amazingly historic city and the hotel, aside from the entrance is very modern. In fact I usually love the juxtaposition of old and new but in this case, it didn’t quite work.
The layout of the hotel is long; it’s essentially built on top of a modern entertainment centre- I will say there was no noise at all and it felt peaceful at all times- and so the hotel felt like part of something else, rather than a place in its own right. There are not many amenities, just a bar really, and that was built around a staircase which leads to the restaurant floor. I believe the restaurant is only open for breakfast.
Our suite had a huge balcony but weirdly there scaffolding poles built as a framework on all the balconies. I guess there must have been building work going on which we were not informed of.
Average. Not bad, not great.
Stay here 2-3 times a year normally get a nice room as I am a platinum member.
Bar and restaurant set up is a bit odd, and not the most inviting so I rarely use these facilities- much better to head out into Edinburgh for food and drinks.
Stayed here before two years ago and came back to stay for visiting the Christmas Market.
Hotel was lovely, friendly staff. Room overlooked the roof top garden. Hotel is a five min walk from the top of Princess street. No hotel parking so you need to use the Q Omni park which is good and nearby. Hotel give you a ticket on leaving for a discount.
Stayed for two nights, breakfast was included and lovely.
Room was bright, clean and airy. Snug Bar a wee bit on the pricey side but great selection of whisky.
My only moan would be that if you want an evening meal in the hotel in will need to eat at the snug bar. No evening meals served in the restaurant. We did ask and were told it was a owners decision. So we went out for a meal instead.
Other than that we look forward to our next visit.
The Glasshouse Hotel is a great place to stay in the new town. Located right above a shopping center, it has quick and easy access to restaurants and entertainment. Our room was very large with a bathroom to match it. The best part was the view! We had a straight shot at the Dugald Stewart Monument and it was magical!
There is a very good restaurant -- The Glasshouse-- that serves contemporary Scottish Cuisine, and it is quite good. The staff was very accommodating to my dietary needs and very friendly.
The hotel has a very interesting layout that requires a bit of time to get accustomed to. However, once you know your way around it you feel very much at home.
Lots of modern art found in this place. I wouldn't say is the perfect place for families but it really hits a good note with couples, single travelers, and business crowds.
