How to Get There
We stayed at this hotel while in Edinburgh and were very pleased. The room was very spacious as we were given a suite upon check in thanks to my wife’s status with Marriott. The location is perfect for seeing the sites in Edinburgh. The staff is excellent and extremely helpful. Our concierge was very knowledgeable of the city and made our visit a real treat!
this is our 5th time here and the 4th in this suite room number 81
its right on the end with a nice big balcony
huge living area, sofa huge bed shower and bath
tv swivels so you can watch it in bed or the sofa
we spent 4 night from Friday until Tuesday checking out
they have a new front entrance looks sleeker than before
we were checked in by Dorjan a lovely chap made us feel welcome
you have to actually visit here to believe what it holds as special
go for a 3rd floor suite if you can then pop into the magnificent roof top garden
it is so serene and quite but beautifully kept
nice walk ways and seating to relax with a drink and take in the surroundings
you will forget you are in a city centre hotel
after being out around town it was a joy to come back to our room
with the bathroom well away from the bed sofa tv area
it is great for the midnight water break : )
you won't disturb your partner
plenty eating places in the Omni centre too and the playhouse is right next door
the play fair pub is also great value for cheap eats
its about a 12 min walk from Waverly all downhill too
for a special occasion you cannot fault the hotel
some suites look onto the rooftop garden the others have city views most with large balconies to sit out on and take in the views
just a warning a lot of building work is going on until 2020 opposite where J Lewis shop is so just be aware of that
This hotel is situated in the heart of a busy capital city. It is in an ideal location for shopping, eating and visiting tourist attractions. The hotel room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and courteous. I would certainly visit again.
The hotel is in an old building in a nice position in the center of the city. It is easy to walk around and there is a very beautiful view from the top terrace. Everyone working there was very kind, but in general the rooms and architecture of the interior is not the best. The bar is in the middle of a corridor with no windows, the breakfast room is downstairs and not easy to find, and the room was organized in a strange way, the bed in the middle, empty on the back, not the best in my opinion. So some hits and misses during my stay.
Currently at The Glasshouse for our visit to Edinburgh. An interesting mix of past and present, the chic loungy vibe of the property starts the moment you step off the busy sidewalk and in to the reception area - which happens to be in what appears to be an old church. The rooms are all on the 3rd floor and the adjoining modern glass building. Our suite overlooks the street with the hills and the water in the distance. The only downside is currently the construction of yet another mega hotel which also occupies the view. The outside noise is eliminated quite well by the multi-pane glass windows. Continental breakfast is offered on the 2nd floor. Eggs are extra. Coffee and toast take a while to be served. Not sure why. Hotel is about a 15-minute walk located across the bridge from the Royal Mile and the must-see tourist attractions. Not a problem for us as there is always something new to see as we trek back and forth across the bridge. Old town area also a short walk away. Service so far has been great.
A nice diversion from hotels located in the busier areas around the museums, university, and Royal Mile attractions.
