Amazing locations and places to visit.
And all the staff in this hotel are helpful but Nilsa is the best

I booked this based on the good reviews on this site but it did not meet my expectations.

I stayed for 3 nights in room 35, a studio apartment in a separate annex to the main building.

Whilst the location is good and the furnishings are stylish I’m not sure if I would recommend this hotel/apartment due to the noise problems.

The website said the rooms were soundproof but that is not my experience. There was noise late into the night from the bar just steps from the apartment which went on until late. Every footstep from the apartment above felt like a loud thump. The door slamming and traffic up and down the stairs can be heard from the room.

The ‘double’ bed was two single mattresses pushed together.

The heating wasn’t working properly, no heating at night but would come on during the day. I reported this to the hotel and was told they were aware it wasn’t working but nothing was done about it. They really shouldn’t have rented out the room if they knew the facilities were not working.

I don’t know what the other apartments were like but I would not want to stay here again if it was in the same annex, apartments 32 to 35.

Overall, good location, stylish but very noisy.

Great property, amenities, and staff

We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Town Chambers, so much so that I'm putting in this review some four months later and I still remember the staff member that was a great help (Blair). The staff were not only very helpful, but very knowledgeable of the city, including the lesser known places to go or visit. Our apartment was comfortable, spacious, and plenty of room for my wife and I plus our 1 year old baby.

One tip - if you are walking from the train station, do not use Google Maps! It will take you up a very long staircase that is very tough to traverse with luggage. It's best to walk up the hill and around, then enter from High Street via Advocate's Close.
