How to Get There
Following a great stay here a couple of years ago, I booked one night dinner, bed and breakfast stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival reception strangely had no note of our booking however did have us booked in for dinner? After standing about at reception we were eventually allocated a room, still awaiting an apology!
No complaints whatsoever with the room, or the spa which was as good as before. The issue we had now was the quality of the food. The last time we stayed we dined in the Ushers restaurant which has now sadly closed. We ate in the Brasserie, hoping for a nice celebratory meal. Sadly it was ruined by sub standard food.
We both ordered salt and pepper squid to start which was tasteless. We added seasoning at the table to help! Despite is both returning half our starters the waiter did not ask if everything was ok.
For mains we both ordered rib eye steak. The steaks arrived looking as though they had been cooked in a pan far too cool. No taste to them and my wives steak was mostly fatty.
Again we both left most of our main courses and this wasn't questioned by the waiter. To play it safe I ordered trio of ice cream for pudding. I've of these was blackberry and ruined the dessert. The ice cream was a strange texture, almost powdery?
After leaving most of this our table was cleared and we requested the bill. Only now did the waiter ask how our meal was. I explained it was very poor and he apologised. I'm not expecting a free meal however nothing was reduced on the bill. We signed the bill and hoped breakfast the following morning would be better. Sadly not!
Buffet food which way luke warm and uninspiring!
Time to check out and we were asked how our stay was. I stated the stay was fine but the food quality was terrible. I was asked if I wished to speak to someone but we were just desperate to leave. The following day I received a questionnaire about my stay and responded.
I received a defensive email from the operations manager which included a good will gesture of a free bottle of champagne on my next stay!
Sadly unless the food improves we have no intention of returning. What should have been a special occasion was ruined!
Stayed on a one-night dinner, bed & breakfast deal (with some champagne thrown in for good measure) and from check-in to check-out it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We booked an Executive Double room and it was lovely. Nice decor, good amenities (although a coffee machine would have been nice), bathroom area was very smart and very clean, lots of nice little touches all over (handmade chocolates!), etc. Dinner was perfect, food beautifully presented and delicious, and breakfast in our room was absolutely fantastic too. Every member of staff were friendly and helpful also. Looking forward to our next visit.
Really enjoyed my stay. Lovely rooms. Very comfortable. Well run and have booked 2 more stays .
The spa is lovely .
The hotel is located near the airport but very quiet.
The standard rooms are really good. Well equipped. In other hotels I usually book and executive room for the extras but here it's not necessary. Well worth a visit.
You need a car or to take a taxi as public transport not that near.
