How to Get There
My husband and I stayed overnight here on 17th February as a belated birthday treat for me. We were both looking forward to our first proper overnight away from our two young children. The hotel itself is set in lovely surroundings and although close to the airport it didn’t cause a disturbance. The staff we encountered were all courteous and the receptionist showed us to our suite along a maze of corridors. We stayed in the Ratho suite - my husband had upgraded us as a surprise. The room is split over two levels. The bathroom has a tv at the end so I was able to enjoy a soak in the bath and relax before dinner. The meal itself was nice. We had a mixup with the Prosecco that was part of our package but it was quickly resolved. The food was good and the staff very attentive. Our troubles started not long after we had gone to bed. Shortly before midnight we were awoken by the most awful racket in the roof space above our suite. There is obviously a large water tank directly above the room and it proceeded to fill with water noisily for the next 90 minutes. It was impossible to sleep through the noise. Being our first overnight away from the kids I was looking forward to uninterrupted sleep more than anything. It eventually stopped about 1.20am. Even then I couldn’t sleep because of the racket coming from the room next door - no courtesy shown to other guests. It was 2am before all went quiet. I was still hoping to get a good 7/8 hours of sleep but that was not to be. The noise from the water tank resumed again from 7am until 8am. I gave up on sleep after that. I noticed a review from June 2016 mentioned the same thing so clearly nothing is done about it despite promises to investigate. We mentioned the noise to the receptionist and our room service charge (£3) was removed from the bill - nothing to write home about. We were going to use the spa but the hotel suffered a powercut (outwith their control I appreciate) and not knowing how long it would be we simply packed up and left. We have friends who rave about the hotel and we were looking forward to our stay but left disappointed and tired.
This is a proper Hotel where guests seem valued as opposed just being a cash cow.Loads of staff and they are all friendly and seem happy to be doing their jobs after aa doesn’t matter how good facilities are it’s the people that make it.Hotel is traditional country house with a modern wing and a great spa which has all mod cons and has been refurbished to a high standard.Restaurant isa bit pricey but you you do get what you pay for in pleasant surroundings and good service.Lots of comfy seating to relax in.The grounds are immaculately kept and nice seating areas outside. We had an executive room which was spotless, comfy and spacious. One wee niggle we had a terrace although some have balconies but no outdoor furniture although it was Feb weather was good and could have had a wee seat outside if there had been one.
Stayed here on the 1st of February on an overnight, dinner and breakfast basis. Room was spacious and clean, bed very comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious, clean and even had a tv! Spa was lush very relaxing. Dinner was lovely - haggis, neeps and tatties are a must. Drinks quite expensive but this is to be expected. Breakfast was nice too can either have buffet or order from the menu. Overall a great stay!!
This is our 3rd visit here... Wow wow wow it's as simple as that.. This hotel is top class from the minute you walk in..all staff are fab.. Rooms are quite luxurious, food in the brasserie is excellent,,service great, food hot and delicious, The spa well ! wow again(the main reason why we come) all facilities upgraded and all working,so relaxing and chilled.. Last time we had slight issue with a banging door throughout the night and we were told we would get upgraded next time,, well they certainly don't forget and definitely know how to upgrade.. Would not go anywhere else for a spa break... 1 issue we didn't have our usual "do not disturb cat" lol😂😂
Thouroughly enjoyed our visit wife’s been many times for spa treatments but my first visit to Spa . Hotel and grounds are magnificent walled garden fantastic venue for weddings with plenty of rooms for family and guests . However one little point was the lockers first three I tried wouldn’t work was fuddling about with the third attempt when a young group of men probably footballers not big enough or battered enough for rugby players advised me that they reckoned half of them didn’t work I used one of theirs as they changed and low and behold it locked . Over all great place staff helpful and friendly without being intrusive . My advice is give it a whirl and decide for yourself how relaxed you feel during and after , we felt great and will definitely be back .
