Beautiful, historic hotel with incredible service
Reviewed 3 days ago

From the moment we walked into the hotel, I knew I was going to love it. The old world charm and decor was absolutely endearing and felt all the more appropriate given the town it was located in. The staff was beyond friendly from booking online (we had to email to sort out the room situation since we booked a too small room in error and they were quick to help us out and clear up our mistake). We were given a complimentary upgrade which was so wonderful. The staff was always smiling, greeted us at each arrival and departure, were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable with suggestions and directions, and patient with the language barrier. Our rooms were impeccably cleaned and it was so relaxing to be able to sit in the parlor in front of the fire and have drinks with, again, great service. The location was superb and we were only a short walk from the main downtown area. We were close enough to hike to Mount Merkur and were just a quick bus or car trip to some beautiful hiking trails. I cannot say enough about the staff and the hotel. I would gladly stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for a charming, quiet, and romantic spot to stay.

Back in Time

The hotel is situated in a grand mansion from 19th (?) century. There is no elevator access. Hotel has paid parking which was the reason I have chosen it and walking to Casino and major attraction of the town is an easy 15 min walk. Breakfast is excellent and you can even enjoy it in their nice little garden.

Only for those who seek calm and history

Stayed there back in December only for 1 night, The hotel is very peaceful and quiet. I do not remember seeing more than 1 tenant other than me although the hotel is highly booked. The concierge does it all by himself. The parquet squeaking as you walk gives the feeling going back to the revolution era. Easy parking, close to town and casino.

- Convenient location, walking distance to down town as well as spa
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Spacious room, especially high ceiling

Cons:
- Breakfast way too simple, even not enough boiled eggs

A really lovely boutique hotel

A well appointed hotel comfortably equipped in rooms of a bygone era. We were upgraded to a room with a large corner Jaccuzi bath which was very pleasant. It took us a while to understand that the gurgling was the self-cleaning feature! We found the staff extremely pro-active and helpful. Breakfasts included a substantial buffet. Room service also worked well. The hotel has pleasant gardens, adequate parking and is a short walk from town. The sister hotel, Der Kleine Prinz, has an excellent fine dining restaurant.
